A month and change ago, Rand concluded in his Analytics vs. Competitive Intelligence article that among the major competitive metrics (Technorati, Alexa, Compete, etc.) , the number of Technorati links a page has is the best (or more appropriately, least sucky) indicator of a page's actual traffic.
Frequent SEOmoz reader Joost de Valk recently built a handy little tool for Firefox that shows both Technorati rank and number of links when you open a page. It's currently built as a Greasemonkey script rather than a full-fledged extension, but the install is pretty simple. While the data it provides (via an unobtrusive little top-left popup) is somewhat handy, you better be quick: it vanishes after three seconds. Hopefully he can make it hang out for a little longer when he upgrades it.
While this probably isn't anything life-changing, it's worth checking out if you're curious about Technorati rank/link data for pages you visit.

Great tool! Can you make it as a firefox extension?
Planning to, going to work with the Technorati guys on it...
Add me ( https://technorati.com/faves?sub=addfavbtn&add=https://arjudba.blogspot.com ) to your favourites. I will add you.
Thanks.

Excellent Joost - thanks!
Will bookmark it in a few places for you... :-)
Thanks for the tip Scott and the neat tool Joost!
As I understand it, the number of blog linking is also key to technorati's ranking.
Any chance you could include this figure as well?
Kellerblog - the best way to increase links in technorati is to create content that other blogs will link to. Then seek out other blogs that would be interested. Get involved and let them know what you're doing.
I think posting in forums will also increase your technorati links. But it won't increase the number of blogs linking to you.
Hi Thomas,
it was a pleasure to write it :). Of course i can show the number of blogs as well, the latest version does this, so if you update, you should have it :)
I'll be happy to make it stay on longer, upped it to 25 secs now.
What's the best way to use my time increasing links in technorati?
