A month and change ago, Rand concluded in his Analytics vs. Competitive Intelligence article that among the major competitive metrics (Technorati, Alexa, Compete, etc.) ,  the number of Technorati links a  page has is the best (or more appropriately, least sucky) indicator of a page's actual traffic.

Frequent SEOmoz reader Joost de Valk recently built a handy little tool for Firefox that shows both Technorati rank and number of links when you open a page. It's currently built as a Greasemonkey script rather than a full-fledged extension, but the install is pretty simple.  While the data it provides (via an unobtrusive little top-left popup) is somewhat handy, you better be quick: it vanishes after three seconds.  Hopefully he can make it hang out for a little longer when he upgrades it.

While this probably isn't anything life-changing, it's worth checking out if you're curious about Technorati rank/link data for pages you visit.
