Via del.icio.us - CrazyEgg, which hasn't yet launched, will be providing a service that allows websites to install software to track mouse movements, hovering & clicks. Below is a sample from their site:
While this isn't quite as useful as the eyetracking studies that monitor where users look, I think it will help to reduce problems in information scent and improve usability. I'm certainly planning to install it at SEOmoz as a trial once it launches.
Open Cube already has a mouse tracking program that works really well. I have been using it for about a month and we are now implementing it on a clients web site. Go to opencube.com and check it out. It is incredible and you can try it for free! I have to admit after a month it is very interesting observing the mouse movements of our web site visitors. It is amazing how many people use a mouse to read a web page.
Just to let you know, clickdensity has launched (with demo, free trial), that also does this heat-map, usability type stuff!

Unlike Crazy Egg that likes to advertise first and produce a product second, MapSurface actually has a Beta that has more features.
This looks really sweet! I'm going to do some testing on high CTR sites :)
Rand, Egol, We'd love for both you guys to test out Crazy Egg. Just contact me at info at crazyegg.com - We've been eager to get more Internet marketers involved with Crazy Egg!
I am salivatin' for this.
