Complete Shysters

Typically, the more reprehensible firms who claim to perform SEO services have some pretty below-the-belt tactics and even more unscrupulous methods of convincing poor site owners to pay for their services. However, today, I found a post over at RealEstateWebmasters that takes the proverbial cake. I'm forced to take the full quote as it reveals the disturbing details of the pitch:

This new company contacted me today and claimed that they used to design algorithms for Google and Yahoo. They use this "new" method of doing SEO. What they did was to create a couple of dozens of sub pages (one page wonder) and optimized these pages instead. On the page, the top fold is a flash screen with the words "click to enter". So they made it look like a home page. But the bottom fold contains a nav bar with 2 dozens links and a KW optimized content for each link page on the nav bar. Each of these link pages look exactly like a home page (flash page top fold and same nav bar and optimized text at bottom fold). They showed me their results in all 3 top engines and the results were pretty good. They also claimed that they have their own automated algoritm to test the search engines' "flavor of the day" so they could adapt daily. What do you guys think of that?

This kind of malarkey just doesn't belong in our industry. Let's hope the company name gets outed so we can add this shyster to our lists.

p.s. The "shyster" image comes from the Super Mario Brothers series - special thanks to Nintendo.
