An exceptional thread at SEW - SEO World Obsessed with Sandbox - reveals some of the techniques that top SEOs use to avoid the sandbox issue at Google. The most common and well-received of these was the use of subdomains for hosting new sites. The idea is to create new websites as subdomains of well-ranking and well-liked sites.
Other interesting theories are floated on the thread, including an excellent idea about the sandbox's origins from Dave Hawley that the sandbox is, in fact, Google's SEO filter, edsigned to trip up those who would attempt to 'manipulate' the SERPs. The theory will be tough to prove or disprove, but is definitely worht considering for any SEO launching a new site.
Finally, on the topic of the post's title, I mentioned that if I ever solve the sandbox, I will release the information publicly. Other members chide me for this belief, including one who suggests that releasing the information publicly will just lead to Google creating a new filter to replace sandbox, forcing us all to start from scratch - a Brand New Day. Personally, I'm ready for it.
