- Refreshing will only re-fetch data that is missing, not data that is inaccurate. If our tool is reporting 3,000 backlinks but clicking the Yahoo site explorer link reports 4,000 - the tool will not attempt to fetch this data again if you issue a refresh request. Also, don't assume our numbers are inaccurate because they don't match what site explorer says. Yahoo's numbers go up and down constantly, so what our tool sees and what you see when viewing through your browser may differ from day to day.
- Don't go refresh crazy. I avoided adding this feature for a long time because I was concerned it would consume too many resources on our server and bring the overall quality of reporting down. We've added an extra server today, however, and I'm hoping the extra hardware will allow me to keep this feature open to the public. Please be courteous and don't refresh every report you run a bunch of times, I'm going to keep this feature open to the public as long as our server can handle it. If it becomes too much I'm going to restrict it to premium members only.
- If you haven't read the Page Strength FAQ, please do. It'll save me from having to answer a few hundred emails.
New Page Strength Tool Feature: Refresh Report
Tools
The author's views are entirely his or her own (excluding the unlikely event of hypnosis) and may not always reflect the views of Moz.
I've added a feature to the Page Strength tool that allows you to do a hard refresh of the data in your report. If you run a report and data is missing try refreshing it and it'll look for factors that were missing and attempt to fetch them again. Please keep the following in mind:
Nice tool! Very good for competitive analysis.
Matthew - Wow! Amazing tool. Once i signed up for your Blog I decided to test my site's Page Strength. I got mostly accurate results but Alexa rank did not appear. Maybe that is something you should look at. I also found that my Page Rank didnt appear. Anyway great work! :)
Having a few issues w/ the tool not recognizing my site in the search results.
Still very nice though.

Great job, Matt! It's a great feature. You guys keep making SEOmoz a great resource/community for SEO professionals. Keep it up!
Glad about the new server - I've had a few things unavailable recently, so this is great news. Congrats. Thanks again for the great tools. I use them all. A lot.
You totally rock Matt, and thanks to Rand and Gillian for the new server. No matter what was said the last couple days you guys are awesome, thanks for the great tools.
Quite nice! One thing I noticed was the DMOZ listing. I've tried over and over and over again to get my site listed on there and it's never worked. Any ideas? I feel as though DMOZ is dead.
If yahoo hasn't picked up your dmoz link, neither has the page strength tool (in other words, check yahoo)
When it comes to DMOZ read the guidelines and submit your site once and forget about it. You either will get in or you won't. It's a nice link to have, but it's not going to make or break your site.
Is DMOZ dead? Yes, no, maybe. Does it really matter? It's one site among many. The web, SEO, your site, will survive with or without it.
Matt--Thank you. I used your keyword tool to analyze two terms in my field and I learned a lot. I was able to solve a few mysteries and get two good ideas on new keywords to go after.
Thanks Matt for improving an already great tool. Hopefully you'll be able to keep the refresh open to the public.
Thanks Matt!
