- Technorati - popular tags & popular searches all on one page
- Flickr - popular tags
- Del.icio.us - popular tags
- Yahoo! Buzz - shows top search terms and rising trends (though it's certainly somewhat filtered)
- Google Hot Trends - shows a smattering of current trends in search (though this data appears more filtered and less representative than Yahoo's)
- eBay Pulse - top searches and stores at eBay
- AOL Hot Searches - as with Yahoo!, both rising stars and bright-burning constants appear on the lists
- Lycos Top 50 - as above
- Ask.com IQ - as above, but organized by vertical and category (which is very cool)
- Amazon Popular Tags - the tags with the most usage today
- Amazon Bestsellers - the bestselling products organized by category
- Amazon Movers & Shakers - products that are on the rapid upswing
By themselves, these pages can be a fantastic resource for a search marketer trying to find trendy content or high popularity search phrases to target. However, if there were a resource that aggregated all of these sources into one location and enabled one to see the popular searches from the past, maybe even make it available in a CSV format, that would be truly handy, right?
Ask and ye shall receive:
Our latest, completely free tool highlights popular searches from all of these sources, making your brainstorming tasks even easier. There's obviously a lot of uses for this data, so we've also made it available via CSV and given you the ability to go back in time (though right now it only goes back a couple weeks).
Please test it, play with it and let us know what you think!
BTW - I'm in Ashland, OR with Mystery Guest this week, looking at potential wedding locations for next summer, so email & blogging will both be quiet slow. However, Rebecca Kelley returns from a long trip this week, so look forward to more of her presence (along with the rest of the mozzers) while I'm away.
Talk about a good source to "Illustrate the rising trends and consistently buzz-worthy terms and phrases online" Rand :)
Once again the MOZ hit the spot !
Would those trends differ from a region to another? North America vs Europe? From my little experience I would expect them to change, but perhaps it wouldnt be that much of a difference. And in the case it is quite different , did the MOZ team think about going even further, with adding regional context?
Or perhaps an Europe based SEO firm should think about all this =P
Fred - regional context would be fantastic; do you have any specific alternative sources in mind.
Well being in north america not really.
But i'll look around :)

This is the message it gives when i open the https://www.seomoz.org/popular-searches page
globusinternet, I get the same message. Seems like the tools has been moved to another location. Great idea however!!
Rand,
I used to live in Ashland. It is paradise and I miss it so very much! I couldn't think of a better place to get married, or live and run my own business. If you want to go on a great little hike, just drive all the way up to the top of Park Street (off the main road, Siskiyou Blvd. not far from the center of town).

Up, up and away you go... 35 minutes to spectacular views of the Rogue Valley and the Siskiyou.
Enjoy yourself, and thanks for the new tool!
The tool looks great. Should help in brainstorming new ideas for most anything from blog posts to new products and services.
SEomoz once again leading the pack!!
Doesn't work for me either?!
Doen't forget that https://labs.google.com/sets?hl=en&q1=backup+software&q2=data+backup&q3=copy&q4=dvd&q5=cd&btn=Large+Set
Great new addition Rand.
Could be interesting to see
Either way, great to see another new and interesting tool made available.
And more challenging, but if you start building up a database with all this data, the ability to enter in a search term and get a trend strength rating back that gives a sense of how popular or trendy that sepcific phrase is based on frequency, recency, and cumulative mentions across these databases.
The Idea is Good but could improve it by creating a report where you will show the MOST POPULAR´S, there should be the Top X trends (technorati, flickr, etc...) without categories, just the TOP
Nice tool. It would be nice to see some trending from week to week or month to month, etc... Also maybe a top 50 instead of just top 10. I want to see more!
Good job offering the free tool though. You guys/gals are the best. ;)
Hi Rand
Great posts. Do you know any tools where I can compare two big Sites rankings, links ?
Thank you
Suresh
Good stuff - I've been meaning to do something with trend data for a while now and maybe with a nice easy CSV I can have a bit of a play. Thanks guys.
I also hadn't come across the Ask IQ pages - that's really useful - I like the way they categorise it. I wish Google would make something more than trends available.
very interesting, I don't know who some of these people are or some of the terms people are searching for but this is a great way to see the trends. I also like the top 10 from all sources. Have fun wedding location hunting.
Great Tool for popular search terms & Trends. Thanks for nice post.
Another winner from SEOmoz. Thanks everyone. Good stuff.
Another cool tool but would be even cooler if there was some way to categorize these different tags - to tag the tags as it were. For instance if just wanted to see music related trends.
Thanks, this is another great tool on top of the other fantastic ones that you offer. It is really nice to see a top 10 list from all sources.
Rand, I thought you switched hats and went to work at MS..
He, He, just kidding..
Okay I am of to China on a slow boat tomorrow.
Osaka Shinghai 3 days two nights. Let's see if I can get SeoMoz behind the global firewall...but should be okay...
I have my Sony Ericsson mobile and will take some nice pictures, upload them to my server and post a link to you guys so you can see what is the trend in China.
Rand, how about Atlantis for a wedding location? King Neptune himself can reside over the ceremony...
