No intro, just right to the content:
#10 - Jane's been on vacation for two weeks and we've gotten a bit behind with Q+A.
#9 - It's the two slowest weeks of the working year (apart from Xmas), and the dev team is buckling down (as per Seth's advice) to shoot for our October launch.
#8 - You shouldn't be reading SEOmoz, you should be watching the Olympics! Between Phelps, Bolt & Luikin it's already been phenomenal.
#7 - The (sold out) SEOmoz Expert Training Seminar is this week, so we're busy giving out SEO advice in person.
#6 - The dreaded writer's block.
#5 - Stupid, addictive Tower Defense.
#4 - The last two weeks (Interview with Nate, Link Graph) of Whiteboard Friday should have built up some idiosyncracy points.
#3 - Polymeme is sucking up time (OK, not too much, but it is a pretty cool site).
#2 - Blogging (or reading blogs) never makes the list of happiness predictors. What does? You're gonna love this.
#1 - I'm getting married in 28 days.
Want to turn the lemon into lemonade? Try authoring a killer YOUmoz post. There's no better time to get published. :-)
BTW - Why isn't there HTML code for ordered lists that reverses the list order (from highest number to low)?
When HTML 5 are launched you will probably be able to reverse your listings:
https://www.w3.org/html/wg/html5/#start0
https://www.w3.org/html/wg/html5/#reversed
Yeah but I don't think it will be backwards compatible with old browsers
Can I just say how much I love the fact that three people have down-thumbed this post which, essentially, says:
Those downthumbs are amazing - really makes you appreciate what people mean by community...
Those people were just bitter that I'd been on vacation.
Mawidge. mawidge, is what brings us here together today...
Hey Rand, please don't forget about the poor bastards that live outside the U.S. and cannot come to the advanced seminar. Please oh please record it! I'm thrill to learn what you guys are discussing right now!
Cheers!
You do realize we expect a full blown report of the wedding with Mystery? ;)
Actually, you can do a reverse ordered list in HTML. It's a bit of a pain, but all you need to do is set a value attribute to the desired list number for each list item.
It's not valid under strict doctypes, though.
Have fun at your wedding! Don't enjoy the bachelor party too much!
Oh. And there's good information about the proposed HTML 5 reverse options at https://blog.whatwg.org/reverse-ordered-lists
Congrats on the marriage Rand. I think you just start with 1 and then go to 2 and so on if you want the list to appear in reverse order. o.0
#1 is a crap excuse Rand :) I'm getting married in 12 days and I've been posting like a mad man :)
I'll bet your fiancee loves that :)
Heheh everyone has it's own thing to relief the stress ;) Mine's coding :)
Since I am new around here, it just gives me time to catch up on all the other great SEOMoz posts I need to consume! :)
I'm back now and there's nothing like holiday to reignite a passion for SEO ;)
I'm actually sort of glad to be back... there is only so much lake swimming and sunshine one can take. Yeah, that sounds plausible.
Do you feel passion for blogging after returning from the vacaion? Are you crazy? All I can think after vacation is that I need to go for another one... :)
Yeah, I was sort of trying to talk myself into it ;)
But it's good to have high speed internet and cable TV again!
Welcome back Jane!
I have seen a reverse numbered list, and you'll laugh or cry (or both) when you hear how it was done.
Item # 10 was done by having an ordered list with the first 9 items set to display:none, and the thing to show as the tenth item.
Item #9 was done by having an ordered list with the first 8 items set to display:none, and the thing to show as the ninth item.
Item #8 was done by having an ordered list with the first 7 items set to display:none, and the thing to show as the eighth item.
... and so on.
I jest ye not.
Remember, receptions are for drinking, dancing, and all around debauchery - NOT Tweeting!
LOL. How much would we have to pay you to get you to Twitter "ZOMG geting married!!1" from the altar?
Someone up there mentioned an online course, I also think that would be sweet. I've been taking the SEMPO Advanced Online Advertising course and have been finding it quite informative (and handy to do on my own time ... oftentime staring at a computer screen after work is the last thing I want to do after doing so all day!) Being in Canada here there usually isn't much opportunity for courses. Although I should send that article to my bosses about spending money ... they'll be so unbelievably happy if they sent me away for some cool conferences (and I have the research to back it up now ... thanks!)
Speaking on Canada ... not much reason for us to watch the Olympics. Too bad Phelps wasn't Canadian ...
Congrats on your upcoming marriage!
Dont worry...Bruce Clay has made up for any light blogging this week. How does he continue to come up with so much content? Data overload.
great...im addicted to tower defense now :S
"No intro, just right to the content:"
Is that not an intro? ;)
"I have no position on that."
Wait, isn't that a... gawd, never mind :)
Congrats!
Good luck on the married life. It's the best decision you'll ever make :)
Your Oct. deadline means increased value for us schleps and I'm already in Seattle for the conf. Can't Wait!!!!
I would try to write some Youmoz content but I'm on vacation around the conference this week in high anticipation of what genius content the rest of you push out. :)
Cheers!
@trontastic
On the plus side, maybe I'll have less to distract me from the reams of PPC ad copy I've found myself writing.
(Heh - who am I kidding?!)
It's doable with CSS and a bit of PHP coding (essentially, you move them around), but yes, it'd be nice to have a proper way of doing it.
I think Rebecca is going to be snowed under approving and editing those posts that are already in the queue cause peeps like myself and Rand and Will twittered and appeal for more...
This is just going to add more - wicked, bring them on - I often find hints of brilliance in youmoz entries...
Edit: Crap - deleted first :(
Good luck with your big day!
Aaah I bet you WISH Bolt was american ;-)
I'd love to be able to see it as well? Does anyone know if it is available online? That would be a cool feature I would definitely be willing to pay good money to be able to engage in the seminar online.
It will just give me time to go for the seomoz articles that are on my todo list and finally finish the redesign of one of my sites. The first one that I redid (all in CSS), following the SEO beginners check list, has paid off - it is now the top of google organic search for several keywords.
Rand, congrats on the upcoming marriage! :-)
