As you may have heard, SEOmoz has moved offices (woo hoo!). So we thought it would be nice to take you on a tour of our new digs. We're quite proud that we outgrew the old space and needed a bigger place. Please follow along as I take you on a tour of the new office.
We are just a block from Pike Place Market, and within walking distance of Bell Harbor which is where SMX Advanced is held. We have the entire top floor! But let's look at the good stuff... the inside.
First, as you first step out of the elevator you may think, "Wow, this really is a cool space." But then...
You look down at your feet and exclaim, "Wow! I feel the need to breakdance!" [busts a move]
Next, as you make your way through the Operations department (who used to sit in a back, very dark corner) you too will be in complete shock at the sunny, openness of the space. Just like this guy:
Holy big, bright awesome room batman! Yes we even have a meeting room called the Batcave [see below]. (Ok, the bat cave is a bright, sunny, room that does not resemble a bat cave in any way. But that's ok, cuz we have a bat cave. damnit.)
Oh wait. What's this?! Crepes, yes my friends. On "opening day" at the new moz office we had a crepe guy! "I'll have one with nutella, strawberries and bananas please."
But seriously, we really have a lot of work to do. See, we're working! Well at least Ben Huff is (the dude on the left). :)
Nevermind. Oh look we also had fruit (and mimosas ehem), we're not complete pigs you know. Remember Phil [dude on the left]? Last time you saw him he was wearing his PJs. #justsayin
Have I mentioned that Rand has an office... with a door... that he can close! This probably isn't overly exciting for most people but for the developers who used to sit right outside his office (aka his desk) and listened to every phone call, webinar and Whiteboard Friday... let me tell ya, they're cheering today.
Plus we have 5 meeting rooms now. We used to have one. Again... now there are F I V E. I was late to a meeting earlier because I couldn't find Thunderdome. I thought it was in Spider Skull Island, but apparently those are different. heh. Boys named our meeting rooms if you hadn't guessed that already.
Rand in sheer shock:
Plus really, who could resist having this right outside the window:
The only downside to getting a new office is that now we all have this silly dress code.
Wonder Twins... Activate!
If you're going to be in town for SMX Advanced, we'll have a few office tours set up. The dates/times will be announced soon, and we'd love to show you around in person!
Thanks to my husband, Rudy Lopez who provided the amazing photos (all except the obvious snapshots).
I told Rand I wanted to check out his office for a sec, and his reply was, "But I don't have a privacy curtain on my door yet."
Dude. W.T.F. Guy has a door on his office for 40 minutes, and suddenly he thinks he's eligible for nookie during work hours? SIMMER DOWN, FISHKIN.
P.S. - I shouldn't admit this, but one of those cars outside Nordstrom? Totally mine. Expect to see it there often. </AchillesHeel>
*plugs ears* la la la I'm not listening!
Just reading that gave me Cooties.
ROTFL. Hey Dr. Pete, no backs, no takes, no gives!
LOVE IT! I do think you guys need to plan your shoots a bit better, though. Photographic evidence over time suggests that all anyone does at SEOmoz is eat. My visits only support that theory.
I want to build a Situation Room, but my wife won't let me.
I've an idea for you Dr. Pete. Put a sewing machine in the corner, and call it the "sewing room". Then you take up the rest of the room with your gear.
PS - Was nice to hear your voice today (albeit faint)
Personally I would call the meeting room the Inquisition Tribunal
When there is a scheduled meeting in the Batcave, does Rand turn on the Bat Signal?
Yeah. So this is nice. I hope you have London time on at least one clock...
When the Distilled crew moves in, we'll definitely have to get that set up! They'll get their own post too.
Distilled is moving in too? And you expect to all get work done? :P
Nice office seomoz!
The Death Star sounds like a place for some black hat meetings.
I so want to have a meeting in the Death Star.
I don't! The ability to destroy a planet (and its authority) is insignificant next to the power of the Force.
If you only knew the power of the Dark Side. Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father. :)
Actually, the Death Star is insignificant next to the awesome power of the Rebel Base! Even Darth Vader had the power of the force, don't forget.
Super jealous, loving the breakdancing how-to.
Don't forget "Castle Greyskull" if you need to name any more rooms :)
Man. Great. Where can I apply as r2d2?
I used to work in an office where the meeting rooms were named after... um, bulls. Like, male cows.
Yup, your meeting rooms have way cooler names. Now I wanna name the rooms in our new office when we move!
Also, congrats to Rand on the door, that's a big step :)
haha what?! That's a horrible way to name meeting rooms.
And your message to Rand just made me giggle outloud. We're all so proud!
Well it makes sense when you consider that we shared office space with a um... dairy genetics company.
I think that should probably clarified as "Distilled US". I don't think Will, Duncan, Tom, Rob, and the gang are commuting from London :)
:P I think you commented on the wrong thread dude. :)
LOL - Whoops. Apparently, I think all of Dawn's comments are interchangeable :)
Hahah, nice :)
Yeah, I meant Distilled US. Regardless, I anticipate much silliness when those two crews combine.
@Dawn I was wondering what kind of company would name meeting rooms after bulls. My best guess was an AI company? That what you meant by "genetics"?
Yep, AI. I was trying to dumb it down for those not familiar with the inner workings of the dairy industry :)
A friend's office lets employees bid on naming rights (good for one year) to each of their conference rooms as part of a holiday charity fundraiser.
I am in awe at the true geekiness of the new offices. Gutted I won't be at Advanced to get a tour - hopefully I can make it out soon.
Wow!! Congrats to you guys...
The office looks really lush!!! Love the bust a move floor, and the meeting room names, my goodness, you guys are hilarious!!!
One block from Pike place? You can probably hear the fish sales guys yelling!
What a nice office! Congratulations w/ the new address!
Also, I love the humor a large company as seomoz uses in its office (and posts sometimes)! That really makes you a great company (apart from all the great insights :))
Ok, that's it for my compliments! Keep up the good work!
Wow, the crepes corner is really stilish!
Awesome!
Totally looking forward to hanging out at the Mozplex in June :-)
Awesome new office!
Congrats to the officers of Moz!
Congratulations! You have one nice space there!
Inspiring office :)
Why IS it that so many people in San Fran wear The North Face clothing?
I was amazed to see so much of the stuff when I was over there a few months ago!
Jeremy.
lol, step 3 in the break dancing diagram looks like bowling pins and what happens if you attempt to follow the directions
Hi Rand
The SEOMoz office looks great. We the SEOMoz fans deserve a trip to SEOMoz Office Tour in the coming months/years. Hope one day we will get a chance to step inside it.
Congrats once again
Congrats Guys,
I'm not jealous I swear!
Rob
If you're in Seattle during/around SMX Advanced, sign up to take a tour of the new office! https://seomoztour.eventbrite.com/
Awesome, congrats really nice place, Martin Lieban
Wow! Incredible office!
awesome offices! :D
Love the new space. But I don't think I could handle staring out at Nordstrom Rack all day & not feeling the urge to check the shoe racks to make sure I'm not missing out on the daily sticker color sale!!!
I jealous of the comfy chairs you all have! I wish I had a comfy chair at work :( Congrats on the new digs!
it is so beautiful, i like the style
Yay for wonder twins!
Wow, so awesome! SEOmoz has come a long way from the basement office underneath Safeco / UW up on Roosevelt where we were in September 2006. Can't wait to visit ;)
i go by that street all the time. I'll have to stop in and say hi!
Big office with lot of creative decor! Really inspiring for the budding seo professional.
Love the new digs! Congratulations on the upgrade everyone!
[hums "Movin' on up" from the Jefferson's as he types]
Well, well, well. That explains the echoing we heard today on the webinar. I was just kidding when I opined that it was due to lack of furniture :-)
Really nice digs gang. After surviving your growing pains in the old office, you are all being amply repaid.
The only one's I feel sorry for are those that had to endure the old office but can't enjoy the new (Jane, Lindsey, Nick, I'm talkin' to y'all)
Congrats on the new space!
Love the conference room names/logos haha
Lookes great!
Gotta love the meetingrom "Hall of justice"
:-)
Congrats! Love the open environment and how it breeds collaboration!
Yeah, I'm jealous. Congrats on the new digs!
exciting...congrats to you all !
Tony
Awesome space! My little firm is very jealous!! Good work guys!
ugh I need to find a way to intersect my current salary level with that sort of laid back environment. =/ The people I work with get more corporate by the second. Our dress code policy is longer than the constitution (no joke). And mimosas or bat caves? yeah.. never gonna happen.
Nice! I almost got that Theadless T-shirt (How to Breakdance). Now I'll HAVE to get it. ;) And super awesome names for the rooms. Who usually gets the Batcave meeting room?
Well it is next to Rand's office...
umm.... so where is the current opening / jobs page again ..lol ;)
M.
Dibs! Suckas...
Congrats! Sick space!
See you all in a couple of weeks!
I'm seriously drooling...
I have just gotta cave across here in Scotland, its full of bats mind you, so I could be right at home where you are. That's it, my minds made up, I am going to work my ticket to Seattle increase your population by one - if you'll have me, plus you do need someone in the office that wears a kilt, and if my new friend Will Critchlow is coming too, you can be entertained with mini Scotland England games in that massive main office! Now can I bring some OnelineXcellence to the USA?
Fantastic office. I'm jealous :)
I am so jealous of the meeting rooms! What a great idea! Wizard of Moz is killer too! The offices are beautiful! Congrats!
5 meeting rooms? How many of you work there?
Aidan sheds a tear...
Seriously though - nice digs you got there guys are we paying the Mozzers too much in fees...? LOL
Awesome new place, the Batcave is definately the superior conference room!
- Jason
Probably the coolest looking offices I have ever seen, you lucky devils!
Gret looking. Congrats. I feel I am there now. The "Wizard of (M)oz" Rand looks cool and great. Nice photos shared Jennita.
I liked the lesson 10 break dance especially. Eager to give it a try. Lol
Upward and forward! Congrats to building more awesomeness... Cheers, Jon
Congrats guys. The office looks fantastic! Love the fact that it's so bright and spacious.
Jennita - Are those meeting room walls sound proof? Bring your daughter along so we can have our sing-a-along date. "Wish I could be, part of this wooooorld."
Yes! We've been testing out the soundproof-ness and amazingly the meeting rooms are great. We'll definitely have a sing-a-long at SMX! My daughter loves it here because there's so much room to run around. haha
Jen, is that your daughter in the yellow shirt/smock/dress thingy in the pics above?
yep! That's her. :) I should have also posted the pic of her with Roger. She loves that one. :)
When I finally make it to Seattle, I'm taking Roger out for drinks. If you and your daughter are available, we'll make it a foursome at a juice bar.
All you need now is a non-cardboard robot in the entrance, and you've basically got the best office ever.
Umm,we're working on that
First of all a suggestion just for you Jen: next time try Nutella crepes with bits of dry orange... it's the Nirvana of Nutella lovers like me.
Second: the offices are great, but the name you have chosen are - for a movie geek as I am - the best (Batman, Star Wars, Superman, Mad Max)... I just miss something referred to Star Trek ;P
Enjoy the new offices... and I hope one day I'll be able to make the long drive to Seattle and visit them in person. The opportunity to share a day with you all would be enough to fligh 10+ hours from Spain to Seattle.
