For this blog entry, I'd like to open up the comments to all of our members (and anyone out there who'd like to join in). Please share your websites - be they SEO-related blogs, niche e-commerce sites, AdSense-funded publishing sites, or anything else. Feel free to provide a brief intro if you'd like, or simply list the URL.
Readers, including myself and the SEOmoz team, will do our best to take a quick visit to as many sites as possible - hopefully we'll find a few we love and can't live without. Maybe we'll provide a quick hint or suggestion, but at the least, it's an easy way to get some free website traffic, and a fun exercise to see what our readers are optimizing.
p.s. Please don't share sites that are NSFW and remember that SEOmoz comments support the <a href=""> tag, so you can use anchor text (though all comments are nofollowed).
p.p.s. Yes, you can share multiple sites, but please don't go overboard with splogs or sites lacking in real content.
UPDATE: Obviously, trying to visit and provide even quick comments is a massive undertaking. I'm doing my best, though, so please be patient. It would also help a ton if those who've submitted their sites would take a look at, review and provide insight for others. A little give-and-take is a great thing.
Yeah, Link Spam on the Moz. Honestly, I am only dropping my site in here because one of my competitors has this in his profile. I know that with Penguin this will not be the most effective of links, but at least I can cross it off my checlist :)We offer Spanish SEO services, as well as a site that translates the best English language blog post from experts like AJKohn and Ross Hudgens into Spanish. We call it InEs, short for Inbound Espanol
Thanks for the opportunity.

How fun, thanks! I am the co-author of the book "SEO: An Hour A Day" and run a companion website for my consulting biz, Gravity Search Marketing. We're newly incorporated (actually an LLC) but have both been providing SEO services since the late 90's, which I believe makes us old-timers.
Our site offers SEO articles, interviews, "Ask the Experts," book excerpts and links to other SEO resources.
All the very best,

Great book, I love the examples and the whole right brain, left brain approach, very unique. Thanks for raising awareness of the plight of the hydroplaning monkey. Good luck with your studies.
YourSEOPlan is a cool site. I love the worksheets and answers to questions. Great for learners. I would work a little on the layout of the site, but otherwise it's nice.

Hello,
Here is my site (it's called SEM Basics). Here is the home page and here is the blog. We are still working on the site (new site design, finishing up the tutorials, adding a resource page, etc.), but you can at least get an idea where we are heading. Also, it may be worthwhile checking out the blog tomorrow when I plan to post a full review of WordZe, a new keyword research tool (in the likes of Wordtracker, etc.). This will also give you a sense of where I am heading with the blog (i.e., the type of posts that I hope to be making in the not too distant future). Until then, be well.
All the best,
Moshe
I run an Ecommerce website Orange mobile shop .I will appreciate any feedback.
Thanks, Raina
Hello SEOmoz!
Just ran across this blog, and it's definitely been added to my daily reading list.
I run NICOclub.com,the largest Nissan / Infiniti site on the web.
We offer accurate tech info, friendly and supportive forums, industry news, discounts on parts and accessories, Classified ads, enthusiast events, and a true sense of community.
Stop on in, I'd love to see some feedback as we're always striving to be better!
Hi,
I found this blog today and immediately subscribed. Then how could I resist commenting on this post with a chance to get some critique from the experts :)
Here's my site: https://www.10yetis.co.uk
...I somewhat nervously await a possible reply...
Jilly, I like the clean look and how you called out your phone number so clearly. Maybe adding links in the content to your different practice areas, i.e. viral marketing, design, would help.
Hi Jilly,
Just took a quick shufty around your site. The meta des. tag could be a little more keyword heavy, and a little longer. Personally, I'd go for something more like
"Specialists in viral marketing and public relations in the UK. 10 Yetis make marketing simple. We are a fun friendly company where creativity is embraced"
The site seems well structured, with good solid coding, so no worries there.
You've started to get a fair number of inbound links (3-400), so that's going well (as I'd hope, given that you're a viral marketing company!).
However, I've noticed that you're not in Yahoo! directory or DMOZ. Submission to both of those would be a good idea, along with other high-weight directories. https://www.seocompany.ca/directory/top-web-di...a pretty good list, if you need some ideas.
The other thing I'd look at is keyword density - could do with being a little higher on phrases like viral marketing(2.04 % atm), public relations (below 0.60%) and similar things.
Hope this helps a little. Take care and good luck!
Pete
Thanks to Pete and David,
That's awesome, I'll get implementing those changes right away!
I keep coming back to see if Rand has updated anything and I must say that is one of the coolest avatars I've seen. Your site looks thorough but you may want to emphasize your services (bold or something!) so that people don't do what I did and wonder what "10 Yetis" is. Maybe incorperate it into your headline like "Welcome to 10 Yetis the UK's best Design, PR and marketing firm" instead of listing the services on the next line in small type.
Anyway, cool ass avatar.
Hi, My site SEO News (https://www.seo-sites.com) is the aggregate of all the best SEO relates sites. Currently you can read around 30 SEO News / blogs at one shot. Hello! I'm not qualified to comment on your SEO, but I want to contribute. I love your idea and your basic design is nice and easy to navigate. I do think your font makes the site look a bit too low-budget or homemade, and a different font choice would class it up a lot. I'm not sure why, but I just don't like the way it looks, especially on your tabs. Nice graphics though, and best of luck with the business.
I'll add 2 sites. Blog on a Stick My personal blog covering my Firefox themes to the weather and more. BloggerDesign My blog on blog optimization, usability and other blog stuff.
BloggerDesign looks like an interesting site. Especially good for beginner bloggers. I've bookmarked your site.
Thanks. I have a lot of knowledge and I'm really trying to get it all out. ;)
Hello, I'm going to add 2 sites,
Investing Sensei This was a general investing blog at first then I decided to start focusing on investing in the video game / interactive industry.
Personal Blog I have been trying to make monetize this blog forever. I average a 100 uniques a day and tried several things from in text adsense adds to amazon affiliate links. (Still in the amazon trials.) Most traffic comes from natural search engine listings in Google and wikipedia.
Hi,
I'm an avid fan of SEOmoz and am very interested in hearing your comments on one of my sites. The site is SilkQuit.Org, a quit smoking support site which has been around now for 11 years. Thanks to adsense and some SEO effort the site is now self supporting. Thanks in advance for your comments and advice.
Hey David. Wow you are a pioneer. Great product. Some of the numbers on the site are shocking.
I'm new to the SEOmoz world but soaking it all up so that I can help our sites out.
I write two blogs for the company, ConstructionDeal.com, with matches contractors to homeowners for remodeling and repair projects.
One blog is for the Homeowners:
https://www.ConstructionDeal.com/blog
And the other is for the Contractors (although people say it's pretty effective for all small businesses):

This thread kinda makes me think it might be cool to have an online elimination contest ala Dancing with the Stars with a few judges and several webmasters building sites on a weekly basis.
Well focused, Joel, and a really good start. I've been working with clients in the real estate space (mostly commercial for the past few years), so this is relevant stuff for me. I'd be looking for in-depth writing from you personally on a lot of the issues on the site.
For example, the tid bit on HouseValues.com - seems like an excellent jumping off point for you to write something about the company, its background, and why YOU think they're dropping out of the game... or is this just a blip and do you think they're going to pick up again? I see some comments that shed a little light on what those in the residential real estate industry are thinking about them. Capitalize on that interest and feed your readers more.
I think with more indepth research and commentary on the news of the day, you'll get a lot more readers from the residential real estate market flocking to you daily.
Thanks for the opportunity, I hope I'm not too late. I've got a small site which just went from a 5 in google to 4 (not sure why). I would love some tips and feedback on how I can improve it:

When I get tired of running on registration requests just to monitor some random page, I thought it’s time to do something about it. That’s how Page2RSS was born. Since then I find more and more uses for that site.
Rand,
Urgent!: My girlfriend is really busting my chops about this one, as I put her in the sandbox with the rest of the web kiddies.
Here we go,Marcell - Professional Makeup Artists .
Not sure what you can do to help, but I did remember you ranting on in one post ( Rand's gone nuts) on how it wasn't wise to spam you and you could make or break a site, so if you could cast some of your divine wisdom my way it would be greatly appriciated. ;-)
Thanks
I run a niche e-commerce site for Helly Hansen apparel www.hellyhansenusa.com. We have bricks & mortar stores in Minnesota and Chicago (soon!) as well.
There are three main challenges with starting an e-commerce store from scratch. 1) Shopping cart 2) Database (catalog) 3) SEO
I'm quickly learning about SEO and am about to start with Adwords. I'm still filling out the online catalog, which has been a major undertaking for a small developer, especially when trying to tie-in to a bricks and mortar operation. The shopping cart software is an important choice and has long term consequences.
Wow... so many people came out of the shadows
Two more here: I run an SEO and Webdesign blog, covering tools and other stuff, and i run a site on CSS3.
Hi, this must simply be the post with the most comments you've had ever :)
Anyway, I run a web development blog called Friendly Bit (https://friendlybit.com) where I write about front-end stuff. I try to keep it simple and easy to read. Works pretty well but doesn't bring any money I'm afraid...
My wife and I run a web site focusing on live theatre in the Washington DC region. It started out as a podcast, and I realized that we weren't giving the search engines enough content to index. So we went back and transcribed all of our podcasts. It is definitely helping, our page rank is up to 6; and we're ranked higher on many searches that used to go to one of our competitors. The site is ShowBizRadio at https://www.ShowBizRadio.net
One of my plans for the Christmas break is to add in a better Google Sitemap maintenance system to combine the different systems (WordPress, Dokukwiki, home grown databases) we're using to maintain the site.
I have some suggestions for sites to look at.
https://www.myadsource.com/ Created to give publishers the ability to provide an online marketplace where consumers can search online ads, as well as, all print classified ads.

Hey There,
I run two sites currently, there's Better Than Crabs which is mainly my "personal" type site but lately I've been focusing a lot of my photography (band work) on it and it's ad supported -- or trying to be.
The other blog I run I just launched last month but became tied down with something else and made the horrible horrible mistake of letting it dwindle a bit now. I'm kicking myself for it too. I think it's a good premis though: I'm A Mac .com. It's trying to be a site for switchers to Mac (which I am), any suggestions on it are greatly appreciated. I'm also looking for some people who wouldn't mind me linking to them -- info on the site.
Rand:
Long time listener, first time caller.
I run a niche design retailer, Design Public, and have subscribed to your RSS feed for a while . . . I'd love to get some SEO feedback on our site -- thanks!

This is one HELL of a way to get people to comment! Sheesh! Ok I'm dropping my links.
I need a freshie web 2.0ish designer to redesign my personal SEO Consulting Blog and the horribly templatized SEO corporate site.. (damn the nofollow).
Pretty soon I'll be coming out with the official site for my boutique yet well-staffed search marketing firm and some of our other divisions, so I may have to come and append to the post later.
A few of my clients help men & women to kick the habits. Drug Rehab & Drug Detox are the game. Definitely a good cause, but just a piece of the pie.
I'm serious about needing some creative web 2.0 style designers. Not that this should be a job board, but hey there are alot of people on this post!!
BTW I like your steez too, SEO trickster :)
Hi Rand and the rest of the SEOmoz Team!
I just touched down in the Cayman Islands and SEOmoz was one of the first sites I had to read as usual. ;)
Here's a pic from the suite! My first time here and the scenery is beautiful. I thought Hawaii's water was blue... can't wait to get on a wave runner and tear up this gorgeous blue water.
Enough about my lil trip, here's my blog for those who haven't seen it yet:Kineda - Entertainment, Pop Culture and Lifestyle!
We're trying to get an SEO related blog off the ground at theorganicseo.com. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Rand,
Can't miss such a great offer! As I started blogging I eventually had to deal with SEO and your blog has given me a lot of support...Thanks a lot!
Anyway, here is my blog. Please also take a look at the tools section which has a couple of other web sites I have built.
Thanks, Yan
Here's my blog for Morgret Designs. I've recently started consulting for a few small clients, and have not yet developed a company page.
In my blog, I'm not trying to repeat the breaking news of search engine happenings, as it seems that is covered on many sites already. Instead, I'm trying to give my perspective on events, websites, and techniques.
I welcome comments regarding the content of my posts. Are they too shallow? Need more links? Fewer links? Do I seem to keep fairly on-topic?
I've read the responses to other posts, so I have some more targeted questions - or maybe a list of topics for a future blog.
What is the current blogging etiquette? I've searched, and only find article a couple of years old. When I have time, I'm adding the blogs I read to my blogroll. I'm thinking of adding links to the firefox extensions and freeware programs that I use. Does this look pretentious for someone just starting out?
How narrow should I keep my content? Again, I'm new at this, so I'm trying to figure out where I'm going with things. I don't want to be too scattered on topics, but if I go too narrow, I'm going to have to reach to come up with something fresh on a regular basis.
In the future, I will look at migrating from wordpress to my own domain. I started on there as I wanted to get a feel for blogging first before making a decision on features and platforms for hosting on my own server.
Thanks!
Hi Keri,
A few thoughts for you: 1) Fill in the "About" section 2) Nice post on click fraud - left you a comment 3) Blog what you want to blog about to find your niche 4) Who's your target audience? 5) Answering #4 will help you keep "on-topic"

Well, there's 14th Colony. I've got a redsign in progress.
One of the greatest one-page sites is Fabrication Unlimited which is about to be expanded. I'm a bit sad about this as the single page has outpermormed many big sites.
Everything else worth sharing is pre-launch ATM but there are some terrific sites coming including an SEO resource for professionals. Very niche, very cool, and extremely useful! And a DIY site I'm working on with my dad that I can't wait to get going!
Ha! I replied to myself. Well as long as I don't answer it's ok, right?
Anyway Rand, you don't want to miss this site about link strategies. So much to do...
I have been reading SEOMoz for a long time and would like to thank everyone for the terrific, educational, posts. Keep it up. I just got done setting up my personal blog, theNapkin: https://www.thenapkin.com any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
My newly started Naples Web Design Firm also has a site at: https://www.webdesignid.com it does need some help though, we plan on a redesign within the next year!
Thai Scans is what you would consider a NSFW site. However it is not at all explicit but rather tasteful. Hopefully you can give it a visit?
Rand,
Thanks for the opportunity to not feel like a black hatter!
I have been in the SEO industry since the Florida Update and now publish much of my thoughts on my blog Build a Better Website. I read your posts with great regularity.
I would appreciate any feedback from you, and anyone else for that matter, about my blog.
Thanks, pittfall
Hi Rand!
I came across your website a few months ago, and became a feed reader the very same day. You've got a great resource with just the experience and wisdom may of us are looking SEO-wise. Thanks!
As for my websites, I guess the only one worth showing so far is my Personal Development Ideas blog which I've been maintaining since January. I'm currently working on a major rework/redesign of it, so any advice would be great!
All the best!
Hi Rand, I'm part of the "anything else" group of readers. You can stop by when you want a break from making suggestions everywhere else. Just for the eye candies. :D

Thanks for all you do!
Kudos on starting that Thursday Thirteen meme. I still see those two words in bold on the Technorati tags page most weeks.
Thanks, TagMan. It certainly exceeded what I thought it would do - so much so that I gave up the traffic on my own domain to let it have more room to breathe. :)
Hi Rand,
this is my Digital Camera Site.
Enjoy.
Thrive is my business site, which will be getting a much needed makeover soon. Ross Hill is my personal site which just got a makeover :) There are a bunch of others around too, like CoverHunt but they are feeling lost and forgotten I'm sure.
Hi Rand,
I've been checking SEOmoz for a few months now as I'm always interested to learn something new. I've created (few months ago) and are running a dutch website, Roku Verhuur van Bouwmaterialen for a customer (small rental firm). This website is created with SEO in mind, using only validated code (HTML and CSS) it should also do well for accessibility (WAI). Please let me know what you guys think of it. I find CSS offering great posibilitys in programming, so just check it out and let me know what you guys think of it.
I also run Koopstad Sittard, a dutch website about shops, shopping and events in Sittard (Netherlands).
Hi Rand,
Great Page Strength Tool. It gives allows me to direct my link building. My site ArticleOnRamp.com is my first attempt at building a site from the ground up. I am a ColdFusion programmer by day, and wanted see if I could make it as a Webmaster and SEO. Four months later, the site is building up traffic and links, so I must be doing something right.
Best Regards, Jason Bartholme
Hi SEOMozzers! I hope I'm not too late to the party, but my biggest website is Unreality TV, a UK reality TV blog. We've been growing steadily over the past year to about 300,000 pageviews per month, and we're looking to expand. Any sage advice appreciated!
Also, I'm doing a little bit of tech writing over at Interweb World.

Hi Julia, if you have a specific question about your site, I encourage you to consider posting it in our Q&A Forum at https://moz.com/community/q/ask. If you are looking for a online marketing company to audit your site, you may want to take a look at our list of recommended companies at https://moz.com/community/recommended. The Moz group on LinkedIn and the job board on Inbound.org are also places where you may be able to find a good consultant to help you out. Best of luck!

Hi Rand,
I realize this post was made in 2006 (wow 6 years ago!) but I thought I would add my website. It has been a passion as well as a business and even at times a huge debacle. https://www.themmazone.net/
Take care,
Tony
@thacker I did a quick look at your site. I really liked the way you used keywords in the URL. I believe you can make better use of title tags on product pages. Some secondary keywords would be beneficial.
Thanks

Hi,
This site is great I want to include my site <ahref="www.allpropertymanagement.com" rel="nofollow">All Property Management</a>
I'm especially interested in information pertaining to the addition of a blog or forum on our site. Is it worth the effort?
Thanks for the info. We just added a blog to our site. I'll include the URL below.
Our question has been how close to the homepage should the blog be? We have been very concerned about keeping our site as clean as possible and mininmizing any text or links that could distract our users from the sites main task. This task being to allow property owners to find a property management company that suits their individual property needs.
To be truthful,I have to say the only reason that we added a blog was to get more quality inbound links. I really don't want to sit around and blog all day. But we are unclear on how to best use the blog. I'm guessing that we should add a link on our homepage to the blog and begin discussing more property owner concerns.

Hi Rand,
I am in the process of rebuilding my site. I would be thankful if you could please comment on www.ucertify.net
My blog stinks. I just don't have time to work on it, plus I don't know how to use wordpress properly.
https://myinsuranceanswers.com/blog/
by the way, I'm glad I found this place :)
Rand,
I had never intended for my first comment here to be self serving, but it's hard to pass up an opportunity to have you visit my site. The site is:
YellowHouseHosting
nut it's being redesigned at the moment. I'll direct you to the blog directly since the content at least will still be the same even if the look around it will change.
TheVanBlog
In the interest of not being completely self serving I'll try to help out with some comments on for the few sites above me.
burtf51 I wouldn't say your blog stinks. I won't pretend to know much about insurance so I won't say anything about the content itself. With the design I think a little more color would be good. Maybe instead of having the headings for the posts be the same color as the header a different color could be used. Even those little splashes of color can go a long way toward making the page seem more visually interesting. Also the headings in the navigation (pages, blogroll, etc) are hard to read. The gray is a little light and gets lost against the background. Splashes of color in the nav headings would work well.
vashistvishal - I think your blog looks good. The highlight effect in the header is a nice touch. I have a thing about sites not being centered in my browser since I have such a high resolution so if you can center the site it would certainly please me. The images and the graphs make each post visually interesting. I see you have the del.icio.us and digg links. Why not add a few others.
Roger - The site itself looks good, but I noticed a few things. When I tried to go to the blog the link either seemeed to be broken or maybe you haven't gotten the blog up yet as I see you're still rebuilding the site. Based on your page titles it looks like your focusing all your efforts into trying to optimize your home page for everything. That's really hard to do and the title on the home page reads more like a very long list of keywords.
I might suggest something more like:
IT Cerification Preparation Software | uCertify.com
on the home page and then use the specific test on the individual pages about each test. Definitely make all the page titles on the site unique. Since many of your pages seem focused on a specific test I would use the test name as the main keyword on the page so a title for an inner page might be:
N10-003 Network+ PrepKit | uCerify.com
or something like that. I won't prentend to much about IT certification and don't know what keywords would be best to focus on, but hope that helps.
Well hopefully I was able to make my first post a little less self serving and a little more useful to some others here.
Check out https://www.rrove.com tonight (11/13). We will release a new version of our social bookmarking service for places tonight. More info at https://www.rrove.com/blog.
Hello Rand,
You have a great blog & I get alot great ideas from this blog.
I have a site: www.1234pens.com that deals with promotional pens. I wanted to ask you how can I get more traffic? It ranks well in google, msn & yahoo under the keyword: promotional pens but I dont get enough traffic.
Thanks & if you ever need any promotional pens for SEOmoz let me know...
Hi Rand,
Nice! I really like what you write. You have linked to my blog a few times, it is: JimWestergren.com
It is an article type of blog, mostly about SEO and link building and a training ground for link baiting. I have a lot of sites but I can also mention my SEO FAQ that never took off and my Swedish SEO forum that is going good.
wow 260+ comments!
I am Chris and I'm a Sagittarius. :)
really though you've seen where I contribute. Thanks for this cool idea though some fun sites to check out so far.
OT: Hey Chris, I'm an AQNT shareholder. Is everything ok there (if you can comment)?
I am a shareholder too and I feel everything is just peachy...for real. Obviously I cannot go into detail about my thoughts, but I am very excited for the future of this company.
Take care TagMan and my call is "hold" :)

Hello Rand, I have been running this SEO blog, Unofficial SEO Blog, https://www.unofficialseoblog.com for nearly a year now. The blog has been receiving decent traffic but now I am looking to move the blog to the next level. Hope you can suggest measures on how to market the blog more aggressively.
Navneet
good job, Navneet
I've bookmarked your site.
I run Recommended Web Tools. A website design tool review and resource website aimed at beginners.
Thanks for your balanced approach and for the cool Keyword Difficulty Tool :-)
We maintain our company website - we specialize in industrial web design and search engine marketing! We just launched our new site, so forgiveness please if something is broken!
Love the blog here, we have it added to our Google Reader! I look at it everyday!
Amazing post, so many useful nuggets in here.
I run a Midlands (UK) based search marketing & website conversion consultancy. The emphasis is on getting the client's site converting visitors to sales/leads before investing in traffic building.
Recently updated the site and any feedback would be magic.

Okay Well Freebie advice is always fun to get, so even if I have to supply my email and stuff, so be it. Funny how I got to this page by reading a Daggle blog about Stonehenge that just happened to be accompanied by one of your staff. In any case, we're a new niche e-commerce site that was misbuilt (from an SEO standpoint) by a company that probably took on more than it can chew with us. It's presently being take apart piece by piece to fix it so Google can see beyond 2 pages and the 100,000. The domain is www.sitesandphotos.com. Thanks for the offer to help. You're on my RSS now =)
May be too late to the game here, but I'd be interested in your (and anyone else's) take on OmniNerd. It's a Slashdot-like site with lots of high quality articles and news submissions. Still somewhat small...just over 500 members.
Now that's some amount of comments.
Well, here's my blog on improving the Web. We are open from 9 to 18, though we'll open for you any time. Welcome :)
P.S. That's some past-posts-RSS-reading, too ;)
Hi, thanks for the opportunity.

Hi, I've been a fan of the SEO tools here and have learned plenty about this industry. Thanks for such great content.

I have a personal development site that I would love to get some feedback on. Self Improvement with Travis Farnes. Thank you.
Another late entry for you Rand but the site is only just launched... :-)
Yclick.it is a blog that looks at the design of the persuasive elements of websites - how real websites persuade visitors to become customers.
We just launched it today so we're only kicking into promotion now. The aim here is really to get it out to people in the blogosphere and hopefully get some good discussion going which is when it will become a really useful resource.
Yclick.it is very interesting - intuitive... psychological... Looks like it is just starting out because I couldn't find many posts on the blog but will be interesting to watch in the future. I've bookmarked it.
Thanks Kulpreet! Great to get good feedback on it. Yeah, it's only starting out - I think it will create some interesting insights. The goal now is to get it out to people and get them involved. The more people interested with experience of the area the better it can be.
Am I too late? I just found your site and think it's brilliant. I wonder if you wouldn't mind taking a look at mine, Enterprise Nation.
It's an online magazine, providing information and inspiration for people who work from home. We've had some reasonable hits but need a lot more before we can launch some new interactive features with confidence.
Google is flooded with "get rich quick working from home" schemes that I think hinder our rating. It would be great if you could take a look at our site and advise us on what else we could be doing to drive traffic to our site.
Hi San,
I really like the design of your site. Personally I find the font a little difficult to read, but the rest of the site is very welcoming. Good layout, good colours, good titles and captions. Is the site specifically related to the UK only?
Hi Kulpreet,
Thanks for your comments. Glad you like the site! I couldn't check out yours (broken link?), though it sounds interesting.
The site is aimed at homeworkers in the UK, yes - at this stage. But once we start to develop community tools we'd like to go global.
If you don't mind me asking, was the purpose of the site quite clear to you when you visited?
Hi SEOmoz and blog readers,
I'm one of those bi-monthly readers that's late to the game...
Thanks for all of the info you guys share. I've gone on a self-directed SEO crash-course to help promote Leader's Studio, a leadership development community for young professionals that I've recently launched. We've got a small team of some of the very best leadership experts available sharing their knowledge through a blog, a forum, and weekly webinars.
I appreciate what you all are up to and hope some of you find Leader's Studio interesting!

I run an SEO firm called 97th Floor and our blog.
It is cool to see everyones sites suprised on how many are offering seo services.
I blog at Hail the Ale!, a blog about beer. Been reading for a few months to pick up some tips. Thanks!
Hi Rand & Entire SEOMoz Team.....
I love SEOMoz site. I am reading each & every post of SEOMoz blog. I have learnt a lot from you guys. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for bringing such newsworthy site for the seo community.
I have recently started a blog (https://www.seo-ebook.info)for giving information for SEO EBooks & other seo resources. This is just a beginning for me. And i will do very detailed posting for each seo book very soon. I will update it with more seo books information.
I want to make SEO-Ebook.Info as a destination for SEO(Search Engine Optimization) Ebooks related information. Inputs from SEO Industry Expert like you is very essential for me.
I'd like to see what else you do with the content focus. It's very narrow, so you'll need to go very deep in your analysis to provide lots of value and get recognition.
Hi Rand,
Thanks for your review. I do agree that i need to focus on content of blog. I am in the process of it.
I've been a long-time reader and love this blog and the tools on the site.
My site is www.trainingbyemail.com. Its a site where you can get free training for Microsoft Office and SQL Server through email.
I might consider offering a bit more of a "taste" of the training the candidate will receive, rather than just have the form and a couple bullet points. Testimonials might also go a long way.
Yes, we do speak english, but, alas, our company homepage is german only at the moment. If you are looking to expand your english business to Germany...
Did you know SEO is translated into German? It's Suchmaschinenoptimierung. For German reading folks we have a couple of interesting articles about SEO, standards, copy writing etc. We blog in our logbook (fairly new) about all things concerning having a successful business on the web (of which SEO is a big part, of course).
As always, it's tough for me to make content determinations on a language I'm unfamiliar with, but I do like the very simplistic design approach.
The digitale-wertschoepfung.de site is very text heavy - I wonder if you could improve by splitting with more bullet points, images and differentiated content.
Being still pretty new to the SEO world I have 3 sites:
- My Internet Marketing Blog where I write about what I think is interesting. Be it that I may not be a doctor I still like to think I know something.
- Funny Videos Made this site to make some cash from adsense. So far not too bad. This site is where I get to test all my seo ideas and etc. Also, I love crazy videos that are on youtube and google so I figured I would share the best of them.
Drinking Games This the redheaded step child of my website. I do not work on it often and was kind of a failed idea. However, I do have some great drinking games on this site because I know from experience. For the game to be posted on the site I had to play them. Wow did that take a lot of time a beer. Well, not really, but if you are looking for a good game sometime check it out.
Internet marketing is covered by everybody but I like how you don't cover the same stories and definitely deliver it in your voice. Also liked the funny videos site.
Thanks David for the feed back.
On my blog I try not to throw up the same old crap everyone else does. I hate when I check my RSS feeds and everyone has the story.
On the drinking games frontpage, I'd add a bit more of a descriptive to entice folks to click-through and learn about the games.
The video-a-day sites might get more page views if you had a screen capture from the video, then had the user click through to get to the actual page. This would also make it more likely they'd link to it or email it to friends.
Internet Marketing Blog looks solid.
Rand,
Thank you for the feed back.
I will try to make the frontpage a bit more interesting. I just need to spend some more time on that site.
So don't actually place the playable video on the homepage? Make them click through to get to it? Interesting idea. I would have to figure out how to do it in a wordpress format.
Yea the internet marketing blog gives me place to vent. Just wished I had more people reading and commenting on it. But it is always nice to look back my post once a month to re-cap my anger, rants, and discovers.
Hi, I run a blog in french about search engines
Sergi - looks good; glad to see so many international readers with content sites in the sphere; we're a growing industry!
Thanks Rand for taking the time and for the kind comment. No doubt the industry is growing. (and some are growing faster than other ;) ) Awesome work you're doing, this list seems endless...
Sergi
I run Edmund Scientific's site. We sell science toys, gadgets, hobby supplies, telescopes, etc. etc. Some of you may remember Edmund catalogs and ads from back in the day!
Great site - content rich, tons of fun; I'm resisting the urge to do holiday shopping in there right now. This electro flyer guy is particularly cool.
For some marketing ideas, I might pursue content strategies that could help position Edmund like ThinkGeek. You've got a lot of stuff that would appeal to the geek bloggers and Diggers of the web.
Yeah ThinkGeek is pretty much our nemesis and they are very much in tune with the geek bloggers and Digg world. (If I remember right, they are owned by a media company that publishes tech magazines -- so that helps!)
We've got some plans in the works to reach more into the social/community realm, so I do agree that is our biggest opportunity right now.
Thanks Rand -- for the comments and suggestions.
Ooooh! I'm a fan! The catalog feature is an interesting touch. I'm curious about how much use it gets and the demographics of those who use it. Can you share a bit about that?
Thanks Gillian! Appreciate the comment.
As far as the catalog feature goes -- it *just* got added. Our big time of the year, as you can imagine, is the holiday season, so we decided to try it out to see if it helps sales. I'll keep you posted if/when we learn anything valuable.
I have a national home rental site https://www.RentVine.com
I went to SES in San Jose where I met Rand at the bar. At SES I learned all my mistakes dealing with duplicate content.
I am done making structural changes to the site to fix those issues, but I still need to add a ton of good content to build trust with Google.
I have only done one link baiting task so far on my blog https://www.RentVine.com/blog/ by creating a mashup map tool for property managers and that has gone really well. I was inspired to do the link baiting after seeing Rand's session on the topic.
For me right now it is all about building content and getting links.
David - I might also think about re-writing those state page URLs to be static (and use the KWs), in my experience, it does make a big differnce.
I have a number of sites but for now I will list my brand spankin' new SEO blog SEO Trickster. Stay tuned for more my friends, oh yes, stay tuned!
Love the logo and the name. Okay I'm staying tuned, so keep on bloggin'.
Looks good, it'll be cool to see what you come up with.
Ok. Let's see if anybody finds my 2 sites of use:
Be Quicker
A site where I want to add all my shortcuts and "efficiency tips". Unfortunately, I didn't think it would take so much time to write each post. But I'll get into the swing of things soon.
FindingFunnies.com
My Google CSE for searching for jokes. I'm just putting this one in because I'm quite proud of it... ;-)
Interesting concept with the findfunnies site, but not much content and the searches I tried produced less than desirable results. The "be quicker" blog doesn't appear to have too much as of yet, as you said - it does take some time to get into blogging.
Hello.
I run a blog covering Search News, SEO, Affiliate Marketing, Programming, and whatever other tech-related subject happens to appeal to me.
Check it out! https://www.infohatter.com/blog/
This SEO space is getting crowded with blogs, eh? That looks like a solid effort, Caydel, but with so much competition, you'll need to stand out in order to get much traffic and attention.
My web-site is absite.ru online crosswords, griddlers (japanese crosswords) and sudoku (on Russian).
Sadly, I can't read the content, but the GUI is much more usable than many of the Russian sites I stumble across - probably because so many are through spam email (wink/nod).
I launch web about copywriting and my personal portfolio. Both sites is in Czech language, but i hope, that they bring some usefull tips for it's readers.
Good looking sites, marty, bravo! I lived for 4 months in Prague in 1998 and remember really enjoying the Czech culture and people. I must make it back sometime soon.
Our company homepage is Agencia de publicidad. It's an advertising agency in Spain. We are now translating our web to english.
We also have a blog where we post notices about marketing it is: Blog de Marketing en Español
The only thing I would say is to possibly design the site and blog to be more consistent with one another - right now they seem to be totally unique sites.
Thanks so much for a great blog -- I'm a loyal reader.
I hope some folks will get some value from my website effectiveness blog which I've been writing for well over a year now. It's got tips for increasing conversion rate, email marketing, paid search and more.
Rick,
I really like the layout of your site, but was confused about this, During the presentation, one astute attendee asked the presenter why they would use Clicktracks when Google Analytics was free. The presenter explained that Google Analytics uses Javascript to capture information while Clicktracks Pro Server Edition uses the server’s raw logfiles, and this type of data can only be retrieved through logfiles. I later confirmed this through a Google Analytics message board.I think javascript is generally preferred for the ability to track unique visitors and visits vs. logfiles, which often struggle with those stats. Not sure, either, how effective "time on site" would be in measuring the success of an SEO effort - I think that's more of a content and usability perspective.
I pick my "hobby site" Strictly CSS then. Strictly CSS is a collection of CSS articles (pointers and my own), some tools, and a free directory for websites made with CSS to create a table-less layout, conforms with the W3C standards and good design practices.
Mano - You've got a ton of great material in there, but I think you might be losing some of your audience because they're so design-sensitive. You could update the look+feel to be more contemporary and upscale - it might help you get a lot more links from CSS enthusiasts.
I own https://www.mr-seo.com I have 2 blogs. One that is full of my articles and one about my thoughts, tools and SEO news https://www.mr-seo.com/wordpress I also have a forum and one of the first free podcasts that teach SEO.
Lots of cool stuff there. BTW - it's hard. Trust me.
I'm the lead admin at The Webmaster Forums - it's a smaller forum, but nice (I hope!). More design/programming related than other "webmaster" forums. We'll be launching a content area soon.
I also have a blog, which is mostly about web design and that sort of thing.
Thanks for the opportunity! It will be fun to go through these comments and find some more cool sites :)
With 10,000 members, it looks like the forum is going very nicely - well done!
I like the blog's layout and content, too. Your idea of marking external links with CSS is a good one - might have to steal that :)
my personal favorite site I operate is www.viagra-2.0-mashup-mesothelioma-party-poker-free- singles-dating-cialis-tabs-mortgage- foreclosure-SEO-linkexchange-IPOs.com.
Check it out, it has great ads.
Kidding. I own a small web design / SEM / dev company that no longer really takes on clients- I broker leads to my local "competitors".
MCP Media Main markets: Arizona Web Design, Phoenix web design, Arizona search engine optimization, etc
My main website is no longer a client of MCP Media; I work there full time and LOVE it. It is a student loan company which was founded by a few philanthropic, nerdy, cool entrepreneur dudes who wanted to help people pay for school.
NextStudent Main markets: student loans, student loan consolidation, private student loans, etc
And finally, I do have a personal blog just in case I decide to start doing the conference speaking circuit and / or brand myself for whatever reason. It's hot.
Chris Hooley's Webalog Main markets: Anybody looking for me- Chris Hooley.
That MCP Media site looks like it's trying to target the engines pretty hard - lots of kws all over :)
NextStudent is in a very competitive space - good luck to you there. Oh, and consider making those main content section links a bit more standout - possibly even using CSS image replacement to keep the anchor text.
Thanks for the quick review- MCP was written ages ago and I really don't do as much with it anymore (probably for obvious resons lol) - SEO sure was different in 2003! Still ranks great tho
As for NextStudent, we're competing in that space and doing OK so far :-)
Not a bad idea with the CSS / graphic trick- we're going to redesign soon. I'll certainly keep it in mind :-)
Dear randfish,
I inherited this around 6 months ago, it is a directory site listing over 250,000 restaurants in Europe.
The large amount of data involved has unique challenges, i.e. any decent size location has many hundreds of restaurants - how to display them all for customers without the SE's thinking i'm spamming them ?
I have broken out the listings alphabetically and this can still mean several hundred links on a page! The next challenge will be getting some engaging content into the pages (we have 40,000+ locations), how to best approach this ? Any thoughts/suggestions very much appreciated.
John
The site as it stands is a bit tough to navigate, even though there's a fantastic amount of information. I'm guessing that with some info architecture and design work, you'd have a top-class portal on your hands - I admit I'm a bit jealous, I've always wanted to have a business that covered my meals because I was "reviewing the restaurant." :)
Dear Rand, Thanks for the valuable comment, i understand your navigation point. There will be plenty for me to focus on there, not so much time for those "customer" visits!
A big thanks to yourself and the Team for opening up this opportunity. John
On Influence and Automation - my blog that focuses on technology and automation, especially with respect to marketing, business, and leadership.
Payraise Calculator - a neat little tool I developed.
Sports Marketing 2.0 - this is a site of a good friend of mine, Pat Coyle. It's an excellent read.
Black in Business - I'm not a minority, but we're helping Jim Walton launch his site... minorities do not have enough positive web presence, so Jim has begun blogging to help promote minorities in business.
Hope you don't mind 4 links! Beyond my sites, there are other important sites to talk about.
Regards, Doug
Very interesting sites; thanks for sharing. The payraise calculator could probably use some usability work - it's not entirely intuitive right now; lots of directions.
Your blog looks good, I like how you've mixed in images and other content.
The sports marketing site is neat, too - very topically focused, which I dig; same case with BlackinBusiness.
I am working for non-profit news agency that focuses on news from the Middle East. The Media Line’s staff of seasoned journalists write articles as well as audio and video reports produced in-house.
The Media Line
Any advise on how to get the site out there since much of the competition is usually big media conglomerates with loads of money and built-in reputation(ex. NYTimes, CNN, AP, etc).
keep up the good blog posts they really help make us individual SEOs feel like we are not alone out there.
I think your topical focus is very solid, Arib. I'd chase after the blogosphere - leverage social networks like Technorati & Topix.net and see if you be part of Google & Yahoo! News, too.
We've built two FREE SEO tools:
The first is an AJAX-based ROI calculator for SEO: https://www.thinkseer.com/tools/seo-search-eng...
The second is a free link management software pre-loaded with our top 100 or so directories.
https://www.freelinkmanager.net/catalog/lm_fea...
Please provide feedback on both if you would.
Free link Manager - you might want to make the sign-up link button more obvious. I didn't realize it was the sticker until I hovered on it.
I've seen you ROI tool before - very nice :)
Just thought I'd drop-in and say hello from DC -- appreciate the great blog.
MarylandMedia.com
mringlein - that's a very nice site; clean, easy to read through, so compellilng I had to go a few pages deep. Nice work!
randfish - thanks for the great comments, I really appreciate it!
Hi and thanks for this post. I would like to share 2 websites with you :
Ramenos Blog : it is my personnal blog which deals with SEO and Web 2.0. I try to mix english and french posts.
Let me to introduce the project Menthe-Fresh in this discussion. We are developing the website which will work around Social Bookmarking. You can observe evolution of the project thanks the Blog.
I like your header for the Ramenos blog. :)
I'll be interested, too, to see what comes of your menthe-fresh project. Good luck!
Hello Randfish,
Thank you for this great opportunity. I must say your blog is the first stop in my bookmark list, and the quality content always matches my expectations.
A bit about me: I am a certified copywriter, trying to learn the basics of SEO as a way to diversify my earnings. I still consider myself a junior in SEO, and would appreciate any advices from the community.
DNCOM Marketing
And yes, I can take critics. A few years of practising Kung-Fu strengthened my ability to roll in with the punches :)
I like the site, so no big punches. I might suggest that some well-defined graphics, charts, even bullet points that highlight what makes DNCOM different right at the top would be a good idea.
Hi, I run https://www.MonetizeTraffic.com
The blog is devoted to tips and tricks for making more from your website/blog. Thanks for all of the work that you put into the SEOmoz blog. It is a great resource.
wonk - I see you link out to a lot of folks, which is good, but you're going to want some great posts of you own with totally unique subject matter to help attract inbounds :)
https://search-engines-web.com/ https://seoptimization.blog.com/ https://searchengines.wordpress.com/
SEWeb - Why do you have three sites on one topic? Wouldn't it make more sense to consolidate your content and your links to one domain to rank better?
I'm working on two Sites: Oldmac.de a german website about old Apple Macintosh Hardware. Saugrobot.de also a german Site about robotic vacuum cleaner.
Any comments welcome. Thanks
Although I can't comment on the content, the look of that old mac site is hilarious. Nice job.
I'm in the process of developing a website monitoring tool. Jiploo.com - Website Monitoring.
Thanks
I know some clients who are going to love that tool. One suggestion - add spider simulation that mimics behaviors of GoogleBot and Slurp to help test spiderability. This could even be a feature you'd charge for.
I started up a UK SEO/Google AdWords website and Blog this year and also run an AdSense funded website called A Place in the Sun.
Would greatly appreciate any comments, thanks.
I might try to customize the blog a bit - it's less compelling to use a standard template.
With the "place in the sun site," the content needs a better layout, IMO and the orange background plus white text makes for tough readability. The top level menu also doesn't stand out terrificly well to my eyes.
Thanks for the tips Rand, I agree with what you suggested and I'm looking into improving the design of both sites.
Can you take a look at mine, any comments/direction would help a ton, we just redid the backend a month ago and restructured the site which what we hope is a good plan.... I'm still learning a bunch all the time as SEO is a bit hard to get your head around all the theories etc floating around, your articles help and that radio show with shoe was great!
Reseller Hosting Guide - All about trying to help people thinking about starting a hosting a company or those already in it. Got some good interviews about marketing, SEO, and how companies are handling it. A lot still to write about.
Looks good - you might try to separate out the blog/headline content a bit more to make it stand out. It's a good concept for a site - forum and blog marketing are probably going to be a big angle for you to pursue, as lots of folks at hosting forums will be keen to get your content.
Hey Rand,
I've read for a long time, but haven't commented before today. Inspired to comment by the lovely write-up of a fun Friday night when Rebecca, Jason and I went out for some beers in London.
Heard about you liking Scotch, so hope you would like to see the site for the cask of whisky that Rebecca mentioned:
Whisky presents from A Dram in Time
I'd love to see your thoughts even though we have a big redesign / rewrite nearly finished (drop me an email if you'd like to see a sneak preview on our test server).
Thanks!
Didn't realise there were readers so close to home. I'm a Killie born and bred sheep myself :o) We should start a Southern Scotland SEO group!
This thread is bringing loads of people out of lurking. I reckon that's Rand's plan...
Mintyman: I'm not actually based up your way (though I grew up in Yorkshire - probably the midlands to you - I live in London now). Scottish ties include my girlfriend's family (I will be getting married in Scotland - at Airth Castle) and my share of a cask of whisky!
Whisky should be Scotch. Beer should be Yorkshire.
:)
Tha can allus tell a Yorkshireman, but tha can't tell him much.
:)
It's been a month since I posted anything to my site, but what the heck Search Engine Tigers - maybe the only SEM site to use a Hull City shirt graphic? ;)
If there's one thing bound to bring out a Yorkshireman, and that's owt for nowt!
"Don't thee tha me - thee tha thissen and see 'ow thee likes it."
Yorkshire: God's own country!
The dram in time site is small, but content rich and very compelling to read (especially for a scotch lover like myself). I might re-consider the color of the headline font, though - I'm straining to read that pale tan on white.
Thanks for taking a look around Rand. This must be taking you ages - but we certainly really appreciate it - thanks!
We'll bear your comments in mind during upcoming redesign.
Hope your trip goes well.

One of the things we've been thinking about is how to better integrate the blog with the homepage. Since there's lots of good stuff on the Quantum Designs blog, you might want to consider leveraging it for the homepage to make it a bigger part of the user experience.

Hi,
I read the 'moz' every day and it, along with other sites, has enabled me to optimise my site greatly. I'm the web monkey for a niche engineering company specialising in lapping and polishing machines for the semiconductor industry. I won't bore you all with the details but suffice to say i'm sure you can live without having my site in your bookmarks - unless of course you want to polish Silicon wafers to mind boggling tolerances!
Simply visit www.logitech.uk.com to sample my entirely homegrown site :o)
Mintyman
One quick thing I'd do - make the hover action that appears on the top level buttons (with the image that rolls up onto your top image bar) also show the name of that link in a header on top of the image, i.e. when I hover on "fiberoptics," have the image of the lights show a headline reading "fiber optics" with a quick description just like the default photo.
Hi Rank,
Thanks for taking the time to take a peek at the site. Much appreciated :o)
BTW, with me being Scottish, if you want any tips on some whisky, i'm happy to help! I'm sure I could pick out a few good 'uns.
Hi Rand,
Just wanted to say hello to you. I really love the information you provide on this blog. Also tons of thanks for the offer to share readers` websites. Please say a few words on my site if you have some moments available. The address is www.hitechsol.net
Thanks

The quality on some of the images at the bottom seems to be suffering a bit, and the top level navigation doesn't seem highly intuitive (design studio, development center, custom software). I might address that first, then look at how others have had success appealing in the competitive web design & development market, possibly by looking at popular tags for webdesign at del.icio.us. The content itself is OK (could be improved), but the formatting should be addressed first.
Hi Rand,
Thanks for the opportunity, I'm always interested in feedback of any kind for my translation site. And comming from you guys it'll be invaluable.
My site www.appliedlanguage.com and I'd love any comments or feedback. Keep up the good work.
I actually got a quote from AppliedLanguage not too long ago. Spooky!
Hi Mintyman,
Could we help you?
You could have, but when we realised the cost involved in getting our site translated we had to go back to the drawing board!
The site looks very good - one thing I might think about right off the bat is putting testimonials on the home page and linking them over to the list of customers you've already got.
Hi Rand, Thanks for that. I'll take a look at how the testimonials can be realigned to work like that. Shouldn't take too much work.
Michie, nice site. With the majority of internet users being non English speakers I think you're in a great market. Don''t think much of the free translation tools though, guess you get what you pay for and it might lead to some sales when they realize the quality of the free translation.
Hi David,
Thanks for the compliment. You're right about the free tools, they are just that free. They work as great link bait though plus the free service can be added to any site with a simple bit of code. We're now monetising the site with our new personal translation service, where you can have a professional translation for a few £'s.
Hi :)
Well I run Référencement Design et Cie a blog in french dealing with SEO/SEM, copy writing, usability and accessibility.
I also recently launched Ergonosearch A CSE specialized in accessibility, usability and ergonomic web design.
Sebastien - Guillaume might be of more help, here, but certainly the blog looks solid - a few comments on every thread, a good look and feel - you're on the right track from what I can see.
The Ergonsearch domain doesn't have much content, so it's very tough to say what could be done there.
I run a web development / design blog: New Earth Online which is gradually filling up with tutorials on development, standards, and photoshop.
David - The site's design is quite good. I do note that you're a bit light on comments - you might consider shooting for a few "linkbait" style pieces to help boost the participation and visibility of the site. I know there's tons of folks who might link to a more advanced version of the lightsaber tutorial for example.
thanks for the suggestions randfish - I'll see what I can do :)
Hey Rand! This is my one https://www.seoguru.blog.com hope everybody visit it and dont forget to click on google ad ;)
Alyaly - I'd move off the blog.com address when you have a chance and get your own domain; it's far better for business purposes. Unless you're just doing the site for fun on the side (in which case, if it were mine, I'd still get my own domain :))
Hi Rand
Long time reader, and just beginning to get our own online marketing operation in Yorkshire, UK up and running. I've been swallowing everything you publish on here for the last year or so as we've ramped up to offer this service. Now I am a bloated SEO theorist, who's finally getting around to seeing how it pans out in practice. Hopefully OK, or this will be the last you hear of me!
We're a small dedicated part of a well established web design/development company. Naturally it's proving difficult to get buy-in from existing web customers, and even harder to get internal buy-in to spend time developing our own web presence, but - from small acorns, and all that... some of the more useful stuff I've come across on SeoMOZ is the day to day business advice. If we go bust, I'll be suing you ;)
Many thanks
Paul
That's a good looking site, Paul. My only initial advice would be to make the links on the right more obvious and compelling - either buttons or an underline or, at the least, graphic arrows on the left of the text to indicate where users can browse to.
Hi Rand - thanks for that! We initially did have more graphical buttons, but the site was built *really* quickly and in a slew of last minute changes they went west. Ah... I agree entirely though. And I'm not sure that the layout gives us enough scope to accomodate extra content, which is obviously going to be a big bugbear going forward...
Cheers
Paul
Our company website is Search Marketing, and we're the first portuguese company 100% focused on SEM/SEO.
Our site is growing and hopefully we'll have a new blog in a few weeks.
My personal website is about Fernando Pessoa, a famous portuguese poet and thinker.
The SearchMarketing site looks good, but the text is super-tiny; I can't actually read some of it (even if I could read Portuguese). You might also try boosting the conversions of the "search report" page by offering a sample report that folks can see (so they know what to expect).
Thank you for your insight.
We'll be sure to take it into account.
Thank you for opening this up Rand.
My site https://www.kwordmarket.com is a directory type site with a twist. I had been testing it online for a few weeks now and started to have many people interested on it. Though lately nobody seems using it.
I should advertise it more and do some 'How To' to steer some interest. Hope to hear some feedback from you.
Thanks Dennis
It seems like a really interesting concept, but it's hard to grasp the first time around. I might consider making the "what is this" explanation more clear and explanatory.
Hi Rand I have been a regular reader at SEOmoz, and the blog, learnt a lot from you and your team of experts. Have even archived and took print-outs of a few great posts, like the diff. factors affecting SERP's and etc. Been working for this site as an SEO for a few years, do check it out at your convinience and recommend it to your friends. Regards Christine
Christine - that's a tough sector to operate in, kudos to you for making it work. I have to say, though, that I'm not a huge fan of the pop-ups that manage to get through my blocker! Those pesky pop-up ad guys sure are clever.
Hi Rand Thanks a lot for your reply. We know that's been a tough sector and the pop-ups are quite messy, but really can't help that lot. I had thought you had put in a few suggestions from web layout and usability perspective. Do put in some suggestions at your convinience. Regards Christine
OK - On the design - not a huge fan of the repeating bground image - the design has a "1997" feel to it, I might consider hiring a professional designer to make a more modern interface - So many menus to choose from make it tough to find what I'm seeking, consider scaling to a tighter info architecture; even though it creates more clicks, it will actually be more usable.
Hi Rand,
I have been reading your blog for more than a year now.. being a lurker by nature, never really signed up and put in my comments but you got me hooked with this one ;)
Indeed an wonderful opportunity..
Would like to have opinions on two sites..both are based on Grphic design..
https://www.custom-design-logo.com (SEO was kept in mind while doing this site, though not much work was done) https://www.digiworksindia.com ( no SEO work has been done yet, but would like to have your comments on the potential of this site from business and SEO perspective )
Would very much appreciate your feedback on these.
Thanks
From a business perspective, you've got a ton of competition in both those areas. I think you've got to try to differentiate yourself by doing something truly inspiring - there's so many logo and graphic design companies out ther, it's an uphill road.
Hi, Thanks for your comments. I perfectly understand the need for a distingushing factor and we have already picked up a small one -- Customer Relation - that is the main focus and besides maintaining the quality of our service we do every possible thing to bring complete customer satisfaction-- in fact our main source for new clients is Referrals from existing clients. However, this is something that some one can feel only when they place their first order. I am looking for a factor that can differentiate us apparently, even before a customer asks for a service. what do you think of the quality fo jobs displayed in the portfolio section ?
Thanks once again for your comments !
I think that many of these logos are very well done. Some of the sites you've put together are basic, but cleanly built and nicely laid out. Perhaps featuring a portfolio right from the homepage?
Great, free link spam ;) You might enjoy reading something completely different than most of the SEO/ Webdesign/ Marketing websites posted here, so I'll post my Pet blog.
Yes, even dogs read about SEO...
That's a great blog - highly focused, lots of photos, varying content, well written, even some embedded videos. Great work, Django.
Interesting post, it's not often that a well respected blog asks for link spam and I would approach this with a degree of cynicism if it wasn't SEOmoz. So is this a clever way of...
a) creating more members? b) getting the lurkers out of the woodwork? c) conducting a fiendish experiment?
Anyway, never one to pass up a opportunity here is the link to one of our client's who provide automatic English to Thai translation. The translation service is still in public beta mode but should be fully operational by the start of the new year, so optimisation starts in earnest very shortly. Interesting to see another translation company listed in the comments by Michie and very professional it is too, although Sayhai works a little differently.
Jonathan Rusca
My quick take - I'd make the Flash sections at the bottom clickable so users don't have to use the HTML links (good to have them there for engines, though).
Rand,
Thanks for taking the time to have a look. A good suggestion as well - much appreciated.
Thanks Jonathan
Good morning mozzers.
I chime into your SEOmoz site regularly for the daiy scoop.
Appreciate the energy and openness you provide to the SEO space.
My site, https://www.LGYP.com, is a mix of content and commerce in the Lawn and Garden industry.
We've been working on SEO for two months now.
Have a great day,
Steve
The content seems a bit scrunched up at the top. It's great stuff, but an information architect and high level designer could probably make it even better :)
Totally agree.
Turns out we have a expanded, non-scrunched version that gets released tomorrow.
Steve
I run a french blog about web analysis and SEO on www.malaiac.net and am the proud owner of www.zewol.net , which will feature an english version soon.
Wish I could comment on the content, but I would say that the top could use at least a touch of information about the site - a logo/headline/descriptive/etc. Looking forward to seeing the English version :)
Rand -- very nice move to bring the few people out of the woodwork (like myself).
We are presently a small organisation operating out of Northern New South Wales, Australia. As for our website, well we just finished a total revamp as we had been very guilty of totally neglecting our own identity.

Dave,
Very solid. The only thing I'd say is that the lead-in paragraphs are a bit text heavy. We generally find that users on the home page don't read much, and headlines, bullet points and links (along with the images and animations, which you've done well) are better at pulling people in.
I develop and manage MailBigFile an easy to use file-transfer service. I find SeoMoz, and in particular the Page Strength tool, an invaluable resource for SEO stuff, so thanks guys.
Glen - Nice, easy, useful. I could hardly improve on it. Well done.
Hi,
Ok. Here is mine. FeedFeeds, which allows you to create branded feed reader and display any feeds on your site.
Great concept - you should make one for SEO and show it off here :)
I started a project a few months ago just for fun. No income at all.
The MangoFalls Project
It was a Yahoo pick of the day last month too~! Whoo Hooo Yahoo, Thanks for a blast of traffic.
That's a great idea for a site, aquasparkle. I'd love to hear about the traffic levels from Yahoo! site of the day; we have yet to get a client on there despite a few attempts.
The site has been fun but also a lot of work Rand. At first, to ramp up some content, I was posting three images per day and the time involved to scan and process the photos is a bear. With a little more planning, I could have made the process easier on myself though.
The Yahoo Picks traffic was a nice boost of about 21k uniques that peaked over 2 days and then tapered off over the next 2-3 weeks. I was surprised to see that while the picks.yahoo subdomain send some traffic, most of it came through the yahoo webmail interface. Yahoo sends daily and weekly picks emails to subscribers and those made up the bulk of the traffic.
It's been featured on a few design showcases and joined 9rules this year, both of which also contribute a small amount of traffic.
To me it's funny that the one site I enjoy the most is the one that earns nothing. I'm writing it off as therapy :)
There's always the opportunity to use it later in time - once it has a big reputation, you've got a clear shot at turning it into a tool to leverage yourself as an authority, build a brand, even sell ads if you choose.
There's a lot of folks who are into that sort of art (at least, if my friends' coffee table books are any indication).
Funny you should mention that Rand. I've been toying with the idea of a building a book or a small series of themed books for on demand printing. Over the past few weeks I've seen some steady traffic to the site from some publishing company ip blocks.
Mangofalls will never pay the bills but, just as you mentioned, it will grow over time and I can use it to toss a little traffic and link weight around to my other sites.
Best of all, it's been a fun little project.
hello, -- my firm roccanet specializes in extending our clients web marketing presence from western countries into asia - china and associated SEO services
seomoz is an excellent internet marketing resource and i find it to be one of the most entertaining professionally related blogs out there! thanks
Stevie - sadly, I'm getting a 404...
www.netshiftmedia.com - is my web design firm. I've included a blog as well as a portfolio section and all the typical elements of a web companies portfolio. Any thoughts suggestions, or any feedback at all would be appreciated. I'm currently working to expand my services pages to better detail what exactly I do as a lot of people in my area are yet to jump on the Internet, or understand what SEO is and the benefits of SEO.
Thanks!
I like the bottom logo the best. Maybe you could remove the one on top and keep the one in blue. This will also move some of your content above the fold.
Been a reader since Day 1, and I had seen you around before that even.
My main blog: The Merchant Account Blog cover exactly that. I also have The Ecommerce Blog, which is a work in progress.

Hello Rand:
Our Search Engine Marketing Professionals of Portland website will be an excellent resource for the industry once we finish developing it...right now, we just have a placeholder:.)
Long time reader, first time commenter. I'm an in-house SEM for Magazineline, a magazine subscription agency.
I also have a blog, that's mostly about PPC, but I also cover SEO and other topics if I feel like it. ;>)
Melissa
Okay, read it, ranted on it and blog rolled it. Keep on bloggin'.
We run a WebDesign Company in Vienna and also maintain a blog.
Huh !! What a responce ?? i bet you and your team will have a tough time, if you plan to cover all the websites !
Hey rand and other "mozzers". :-)
I run a german seo & sem blog: internetmarketing-news.de. Among other things I published there a free 30 pages german seo book.
ISG is the fifth largest web design firm in Baltimore and manages online marketing efforts for a broad range of clients around the world.
We're new to the blogging world, and launched our blog in January 2006. We're in the process of a makeover and we'll be adding new features to the site within the month.
What does "fifth largest web design firm in Baltimore" mean? I run the first largest search engine marketing firm in the Clarksville, MD area. ;-)
Seriously, though, nice blog. One thought for you - have you considered joining the Greater Baltimore Technology Council? It's worth it for the mailing list alone. Someone recently posted a question asking for recommendations for a PR firm. I emailed a suggestion and the person emailed me back the next day to say he'd received 38 PR firm names. Technology's on the upswing in the Baltimore area.
Fifth largest web design firm in Baltimore (as reported by the Baltimore Business Journal). Thanks for checking out our blog, TagMan, and for the suggestion about the GBTC!
Great topic, Rand!
I run a Web Design, Web Software Development, and Web Marketing business in Detroit, called Awecomm Web Strategies.
We also maintain a company blog that consists of posts about the web marketing world, and articles about what's going on with AWS.
Exceptional Search Engine Marketing is not just a marketing slogan to us, it goes beyond mere customer satisfaction. To us it means striving to exceed customer expectations, creating total satisfaction and 'wowing the customer'. The greatest proportion of our new clients come as referrals from existing clients, which is something very pleasing to us.
SpiderSplat Consulting, Inc.
With ThirstyPony.com I set out to create a funny, casual experience for the uninitiated small business owner - which still packs enough knowhow to make it useful to SEM pros. I am enjoying it immensely, and I look to MOZ every day for inspiration. I hope you all like it.
Dave, I like your Social Media Optimization lens on Squidoo. I think sites like SEOmoz will be talking more and more about SMO vs SEO going forward as SEO becomes a commodity in the sense that all web designers will eventually understand basic SEO techniques. Also, more people are shifting away from starting web browsing via a search engine like Google and are turning to blogs, feeds, aggregators, start pages (NetVibes, PageFlakes), etc. Hmm, perhaps SEOmoz will become SMOmoz? Now, could you make some more Squidoo lenses? ;-)
Woo! I maintain two blogs, one about technology and SEO/social marketing at techipedia.com and one on photography.
Since I also take photographs as a hobby, I have a NYC photoblog and I might as well share my husband's trains and subway photos gallery in case you wanted to know about transit. :)
Wow - congrats to Rand & crew for such an international audience! I would never have suspected this blog received so mu activity from outside the U.S. The next time you open up this blog you may find some entries from China.
I have a commercial website focusing on search engine friendly web design. But please dont visit it until 11/16 when the redesign will be live.

Hey SEOmoz team, my site is https://www.shopadf.com, we are a diamond jewelry website, that is also taking a social approach with blogs and social marketing.
You guys always have great new posts up everyday. I am in the process of implementing your 5 creative e-commerce processes to imitate.
Great Job Y'all
Any input is good input especially from the Moz! Here is a site I run
As always Swim Safe
haha, the number of comments in this short a timespan is hilarious.
I used to run an old blog that I abandoned fairly quickly that you mentioned in one of the earlier posts in the SEOmoz blog. Only saw it recently, surprised me quite a bit.
I started a new one recently however: https://www.revenuegirl.com Basically just random search engine optimization, internet marketing & webmaster info.
Hey, I'm a long time SEOmoz blog reader and fan. Here's my personal blog that really does not have a topic or focus -- it just covers what catches my attention or interests me.

I feel so funny as someone who is relatively tech savvy to use Blogger while not hosting my own domain...
Hello Rand and the SEOmoz crew! I remember you from way back in the SEOChat forums. I went by x3nos in those days lol. Just getting back in tune with the SEO community as I was off doing straight IT and development for a few years. Here's my most recent blog:
Clock Paradox
And my most recent development project:
ELearningOnline.net
I have several sites in the Industrial Automation field that were redesigned last year. My next project is an in-house SEO campaign. Thanks for being a great source of information.
Here are the two main sites: CMCcontrols and Burny
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Rand, Rebecca, Matt, Jeff, Si, Gillian and Brandon (and all SEOmoz readers) -
To be a bit different than all other posters with the "here is my site post", here are some benefits you can expect from a visit to my site:
- Learning about new computer and electronics technologies - Learning about PCs and computer hardware (laptops, video cards, hard drives, RAM, etc.) - Help with choosing which new products to buy
The focus is on easy-to-read and easy-to-understand content that will help visitors make informed shopping decisions.
Thanks to the SEOmoz team for the great tips and advice you've provided over the years!

I've been reading your blog for months and never commented, so I might as well start :D I run a few sites, my personal blog on SEO and Nestuite: Fourth Wave Consulting and a site selling antique reproduction home hardware: House of Antique Hardware
Comments/suggestions appreciated :D
I have a small online printing business, mainly custom Post-its and wedding stuff, Antonia Rose Printing. We found a niche in a few products and have expanded our business from there, trying to use seo techniques as I don't have much of an ad budget.
I am a one-woman operation, so any outside feedback is appreciated.
Hi Rand and SEOmoz team. Thanks for letting us share our sites. Here are my site and blogs...
Sprenzy - Comparison shopping mashup (shopping.com and Amazon ECS so far).
Sprenzy Shopping Blog - Shopping blog that provides product recommendations, reviews and tips.
Sprenzy.com Blog - Product development blog.
OK, to throw in a completely non-tech, non-seo, non-directory, non-blog type site, here's mine:
The Caribbean Beach Wedding Guide
Designed, built and managed by a team of, erm, me. Launched 2004, optimised in spare time (read: 10 minutes per week) using tips, ideas, suggestions etc garnered almost exclusively from the authors (SEOmoz and guests) at this blog, from posts there and at various message boards around the 'net.
Site now ranks pretty well for some major 'destination wedding' type terms... could always do better, but I have so little time to work on new features, new content and seo...
Big thanks to all who shared knowledge to get it this far.
Hey Guys! I will miss you all at PubCon this year :( But in the mean time I'll be here working on https://www.shoptoit.ca - Canada's Largest Shopping Search Engine and plugging away on the blog "Off the Rack" https://www.shoptoit.ca/blog
Thanks Rand! I'd love to add to this illustrious list of websites. My first site is a blog about sem seo education, I'm closely watching Rebecca's sojourn to Fresh Egg, titled SEM SEO Certification Training.
And now for something completely different. This website promotes our annual pilgrimmage to China for Search Engine Strategies Conference with some major site seeing, feasting, etc., included. It's the China Search Marketing Tour.
We're huge SEOmoz fans over at Three:Twenty Interactive.
Been lurking for a long long time. I work for a startup that provides contribution processing for nonprofits, political campaigns and charities. We're in the midst of a major redesign (and SEO optimization, of course). Great blog.
clickandpledge.com
Nice concept, helping charities get donations online. Good clean interface and your call to action is clear and right up front. Good job!
I read your blog every day Rand and have for a long time. Much respect.
I have about a dozen niche sites that I will keep to myself, mostly affiliate stuff with some ad sense here and there. My latest project (in progress) is www.realestateinchile.com. I also have www.firstpagefitness.com although I haven't had much time lately to work on new clients because I have been in-house at www.gaiam.com for the last four months.
When people ask me where they can learn more about SEO, you are always on the top of the list. Keep up the good work.
Everett
How funny is this... I just stopped by to see if there was a 'suggest a site' form for reviews or anything and I find this post. I guess it was meant to be, thanks Rand.
My company's latest project is PlugIM. A user driven internet marketing community where members can submit content, share articles, comment on projects and promote their favorites to the front page. Think Digg but specifically for internet marketing stories, products, articles, anything that helps you make money online or learn how to make money online.
We also have an Adsense revenue sharing program. Stop by, sign up for free and check it out.
I am starting 2 new sites. the first is Affiliate Pro - Affilite Marketing and doctyped - web accessibility, usability, and web standards Both have minor things to be done with them. Doctype only has a font page that is pretty much done and will be the look of the site. Where affiliatepro is more complete with just some tweeks to do. Enjoy
Using Google's new custom search engine, I made a Massachusetts-centric engine for homeowners and trade professionals looking for anything pertaining to home design. You can find architects, furniture, lighting, interior designers, tile, etc. I have over 1,300 local websites in this CSE database. Check it out at:
MAhomedesign.com
Nice custom search engine (CSE)! It's amazing how many new verticals have cropped up since Google made this available. Quite a few CSE directories have launched, as well. Only comment I have about your site is a big block of white space after the search results. Can you fix that? If it's a CSE issue and not your own issue, the Google Co-op team has been very responsive to posts on their Google group. In case you haven't seen it:
https://groups.google.com/group/google-co-op
Also, they've launched an "official" blog which looks quite promising:

Hello,
I've been reading your blog for a while now. I am a co-founder of Pizza SEO and known SEO export in Slovakia.
I am glad SEOmoz works quite openly and your blog sometime brings new ideas.
I have many Swedish site-projects right now... But in a few days (I hope) gonna my new blog; Mirjoran be started. I think it gonna be SEO and tech-related...
Look at it next week and you hopefully gonna see some blogposts!
Thank you for this opportunity! I find a lot of helpful information and news on SEOMoz; I really appreciate the work you guys (and gals) put in here, and I check your headlines every day.
A little about me: My company, non-linear creations, includes search engine marketing specialists in Toronto and Ottawa (yes, Canada).

Hi!
I run the Blah, Blah! Technology 'blog, which is my slant on the tech' news as it happens.
I try to find the story behind the story, looking for the angle.
I've got some Google AdSense in there, but not the volume yet.
I've run some articles on a particular topics which got me a few valuable clicks. I'm working on various topics to see what yields what click value.
So the AdSense is more of an experiment to see what works and what doesn't .. but an income wouldn't go a miss!
As one famous Kazakhstani might say: "You like, Yes?! Jagshemash!"
Well Rand, as you once said yourself don't tell your URLs to a certain Googler who just happens to read this blog (or you were quoting Jim Boykin I think). So on that note, I'll just drop my only website that is SEO related and has no bearings on my earnings.
Xuru
There is nothing wrong with posting a site if you're not doing anything shady. I'm sure Matt (or whoever you're referring to) doesn't mind me getting rid of dynamic URLs, making the navigation easier, building sitemaps, writing informative content, making Titles and meta unique, fixing robots.txt files that have been mucked up by Dev. teams, fixing the cookie requirements, etc.
Wow, talk about a response. Crazy.
Of course, I'll add to it. eBay Habit A Penny Saved
Thanks,

Hey Rand. Another happy long time reader, and like Will, only posted my first post here today. Also started my site, The Common Sense Marketer today, which has been in planning for about a year (it's been started now my book is almost finished - there's only so much writing one man can take...)
I graduated with a HND in music 2 years ago, went into SEO and website stuff as a consultant, and then got a job recently in Kent to allow me more time to focus on doing hobby marketing bits and bobs (the book, some sites I'm setting up, et al) and all is going good.
And hopefully I'm going to be meeting up with Rebecca soon for coffee.
Hi SEOmoz, I am including 2 sites - our ecommerce site and our blog - which are focused on competitive and business information for the legal market: https://www.almresearchonline.com is the ecommerce and online subscription site, and our blog which is: https://almresearchonline.typepad.com/almresea...
Our company, Trintech, recently redesigned and optimized its website. I currently manage the site. I'd be interested in learning what you have to say about this recently optimized site - https://www.trintech.com.
A handful of sites: Virante, Inc: https://www.virante.com Our corporate site where we churn out new free tools every week.

Thanks Rand for this one, I have already signed up for the feeds on a few of these.
I have a huge content site (Steamships.org) that is supported by AdSense but does not generate much revenue. The revenue per click tends to be on the very low end. Any suggestions on how to better utilize the extensive content of this site to maximize earnings with AdSense? The site is slated for a long-overdue makeover and our goal is to make the site self-sufficient.
Hi - I've been an avid reader for a while, and this gave me a good reason to sign up as a member. I run a celebrity charity news site that is AdSense funded, and any tips you might have for making the most of our original content and niche would be a godsend!
Steve - that's a terrific idea for a site; nice work. It looks good, too. My guess is that you might be able to land some interviews with the folks who operate the charities and possibly get links from them, too.
Thanks Rand - that's pretty much what we're trying; also we're a legitimate target for external links from Wikipedia, so we're slowly adding links from pages about celebrities.
Great site, Steve. I noted the list of the charities associated with each celebrity, but not (yet) what they did for the charity (time, labor, effort) or how much they contributed (cash).
So a celebrity with only charity to his/her name may actually have provided significantly more of their wealth and personal effort than, for example, Beonce, who has three charities to her name, but appears to have handed over a handbag to one of them. If that's the sum of her giving (or similar) on the other two, she beats out Jerry Lewis who spent a lifetime serving 'Jerry's Kids'.
You get the idea - If you make this 'big' enough, celebs will work a little harder to out-do their colleagues for the benefit of all.
I think you have a tiger by the tail here. I think you will be able to get interviews (and links) from the celebs (or even their staff) about the charity work they do as well as getting same from the charities, as Rand noted.
Thanks for the thoughtful suggestions, Gillian; they support our general approach. It's certainly a big job, and even though we've run the site for a few months we know we're just scratching the surface!
