You've probably already noticed that here at SEOmoz, we tend to travel quite a bit. Often times we're speaking at a conference or covering it on the blog, but sometimes we find ourselves wishing we had more time to hang out with the community. We needed to come up with a way to spend some quality time with you. So, we're sending mozzers out to cities all over the world to have Meetups and give us a chance to get to know you in a more intimate setting.
We're interested in learning first-hand what we can we do to make our software work harder for you, if you'd like to learn about a specific subject on the blog and in general, anything you'd like to tell us! Of course, we'll provide the beer, probably some food and at the very least some interesting conversation.
Upcoming Meetups
New York City - Oct. 19, 6-9pm Eastern
New York City is probably the best place we could think of to have our first SEOmoz meetup. Promediacorp has been gracious enough to let us use their amazing office to host the event. This should be a really great event as we'll have a few speakers in addition to food and drink. We are limiting the event to 50 people, so if you can definitely join us, please be sure to RSVP!
NYC Speakers:
Rand Fishkin, CEO, SEOmoz
Topic: Shhhh.... A sneak peek at new research from SEOmoz
Chris Winfield, CMO & Managing Partner, BlueGlass
Topic: Major Trends in SEO as seen from the team at BlueGlass
Greg Gortz, VP Sales, Zemanta
Topic: Link Building Best Practices for 2010 and beyond
Sofia, Bulgaria - Oct. 29, 7-9pm
We're still waiting to finish the final touches on this event. Be sure to follow us on Twitter or keep an eye on our events page and we'll announce changes as they come up.
I'll be speaking at the Webit Expo on Friday, October 29th, and we're planning to host a pub meetup that evening somewhere nearby.
Las Vegas - Nov. 10, 5:30-7:30pm Pacific
For the past few years we've held our annual Search Spam Party. This year at PubCon we'll be hosting a happy hour with free drinks and light appetizers for all PubCon attendees. We're still looking to finalize the exact location but we're planning on having it at or near the Wynn. So after the last session of the day head on over for a fun, relaxing happy hour with all your favorite peeps. Don't miss it!
As PubCon gets closer we'll have more information about the location and a place to sign up.
San Diego - December
We'll have more information about this one soon. The event should take place around December 20th.
But what about my city?
Don't worry! We are planning more SEOmoz events. You can stay up-to-date on the location of the moz team on this new fancy looking page. This calendar not only shows our meetups but also shows what conferences we'll be speaking at and who's speaking and/or attending. It will be updated often, so if you're ever curious where we are and what we're up to, you can find out here.
I would suggest: Salzburg in lovely Austria (NOT Australia!!)I know that you have been to Munich already but the town of Salzburg is very, very special! In the middle of Europe - easy to reach :-).
I am sure even Gianluca would love to travel to Salzburg, too - combined with a short holiday ;-).
Hehehe... thank you... but the trick would have been to tell the magic word: Mozartkugeln
Salzburg is a lovely city (yes, I've visited when younger).
That would be no problem at all - in Salzburg you are surrounded by "Mozartkugeln" :-)
Isn't Salzburg the home of the Sound of Music? If that's the case, it's where I've longed to visit ever since seeing the movie as a lad.
Yes, you are right. Salzburg is the "home" of the movie "Sound of Music". After some inspired SEO lessons of SEOmoz I could show you some spots in the town where the movie took place.
Yes, Salzburg would be really good. I wouldn't mind to have vacation there ;-)
So when is the Dublin date? You can count me in. Oh, and second.
Great!
I already booked the SEO Master Class at Webit 2010 - Sofia!
See you soon, Rand!
Cheers!
Great news Rand! Will check the calendar, hopefully possibly maybe a Toronto date will arrive in the future :)
(ps FIRST! always wanted to say that :P )
A second vote for Toronto ;)
We are waitnig for your Master class on WEBIT 2010 in Sofia, Bulgaria:-)
You should head over to Birmingham, us Brummies can show you what a real party is like. =P
How about Edmonton, Calgary or Vancouver in Canada. Would be nice. SEOMoz more than welcome here too :-)
Very cool and defintely looking forward to the San Diego date, unless of course you wanna head a little further north to LA ;)
Looks like a trip to San Diego to visit my brother, er, see Rand :)
Yes also wondering when is the Dublin date?!
Any Aussies out there?
Wish I would've been able to RSVP for the New York event sooner but I guess I'll just have to hope some people drop out. Looking forward to a larger event in NYC some time soon.
Hey Rand don't exclude those of us who are rocking SEO meetups on the off season haha https://www.meetup.com/Las-Vegas-SEO/
I'm looking forward to seeing more details released for the meetup in San Diego. That's my backyard, so it would be a shame to miss out on an SEOmoz meetup when it costs me next to nothing for travel. :)
Party in Vegas at my spot.
It'll be a great pleasure to me to be at Your Masterclass in Sofia, Bulgaria.
I just missed Boston (my hometown), and am too sick with a cold to drive to NYC for you guys.....:(
Very interested in the San Diego event and willing to help organize, plan, etc.
Hi Rand,
Possible Point of Correction please: "You've probably already noticed that here at SEOmoz, we tend to travel quite a bit" - when did you last have an SEO meet -up anywhere in Sub-Saharan Africa?
Consider having what I would like to call an SEO Safari - for wild, out of this world SEO inspiration -
Cheers!
December! Well, hopefully I can sneak down there for a little meetup.
We need a meet up in Michigan somewhere!! I get lonely over here.
If you make it out to Denver (and you really should), you'll always have a place to call home here at Bridgeline! And it really isn't bad - pool table, air hocky table, and oh yes, free vending machines! Come on Rand, Denver is calling your name!
I'm pretty sure you guys picked Sofia for a reason, but since there are already requests from Salzburg would you consider a middle point like Budapest maybe? It's a lovely historic town, with lots of spas, parties and great beer! What do you say?
Anybody in Houston TX? i want to start a meetup for SEO peeps here...
I'm not from Houston, but you may want to take a look at this one: https://www.meetup.com/Search-Engine-Optimization-SEO-Houston/
Peter, you should have said "I'm not from Houston...but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night"
Another vote for Houston!
Edit: Geez, what's up with Houstonians having prefixes as neo!?
When is the Dublin event?
Great idea for the meetups Rand, especially since you are already globe trotting. I'd say that you are optimizing your travel!
I'm sure you're in SD this December to visit the in-laws as usual. Let me know how I can help you organize the meetup here in SD, I would love to help and have many connections and ideas.
I look forward to the San Diego meet up as well. My only suggestion is to not have it at Gordon Birsch like last year. Parking is a nightmare in December at that place!
Hey - sweet - your coming over here to Little old Ireland - let me know the dates and that pls so i can arrange it for sure ! Peace
Rand,
This sounds like a great idea and I would love to help in any way if SEOmoz came to Chicago. I don't think i have to sell the city, but i would not recommend a meetup during a winter month as the rumors are true; Chicago winters are brutal. Based on what I saw when I was at the Pro Training Seminar, you guys can really put together an event and I feel that a Seattle-Chicago SEOmoz event is just what the world needs (SEO world, that is) :D
Salud!
I don't like Bulgaria. The people there are extremely unfriendly. You'll go there and get yelled at and honked at for everything.
