For the last two years, the 130+ Mozzers across product, engineering, marketing, and operations have been working to transform this company to the next stage of our evolution. Today, that incredibly demanding, intense, but ultimately rewarding process has reached its first goal. I'm excited to announce that as of today, SEOmoz is formally transitioning our brand, our products, our company name, and all of our efforts to Moz.
What?! Why?! How?! I know - there are lots of questions, and I will do my best to answer them all. For those of you who'd like to skip ahead, here's what you'll find in this post:
- Why We're Retiring SEOmoz

Why We're Retiring SEOmoz
The company and the name 'SEOmoz' began in 2004 with a blog. I'd been reading, participating, and sharing a lot on SEO forums and wanted a place to post in my own format with more detail than what I could do on other sites. Fast forward to 2006; SEOmoz had became quite a popular site, and we changed the name of the company to match it. In 2009, when we retired our consulting business to focus exclusively on software, SEOmoz was seeing more than 500,000 visits a month (in April 2013 that number was over two million).
The SEOmoz site in 2005 - designed and built by yours truly (in Dreamweaver; oh yeah!)
But today, we're retiring that brand for a number of reasons
- Calling ourselves "SEO"moz is no longer transparent and authentic. With products like Fresh Web Explorer, FollowerWonk, GetListed, and the beta of Moz Analytics (alongside the vast array of non-SEO content we publish), we're no longer purely an SEO software company. Pretending otherwise is disingenuous, and that violates our core values.
- SEO is bigger than just SEO - as hard as I've fought personally and we've fought as an organization over the last decade to make marketers and organizations think more holistically about organic search, the branding of the past remains. SEO is seen as a narrow set of activities that move rankings up and bring search visitors in. To truly help with SEO, we have to do more than just place keywords, make sites accessible, and build links, but first we need the influence to make these changes. A broader marketer is often granted that influence, while pure SEOs still, unfairly, must strive for it.
- For many folks outside of our community, the acronym SEO has (unfair) associations with spam or manipulation. To quote an all-too-frequent comment we see when our site is mentioned around the web, "Don't trust any domain with SEO in the name." That feedback is hard to hear, and it's wrong, but that doesn't change the impact. We know that the "SEO" in SEOmoz has, in the past, hurt our ability to persuade people about the incredible value of organic search marketing. Moz gives us a chance to do something all marketers love - test something new and observe the results :-)
- It's surprisingly hard for folks who don't know to say the acronym "SEO" as letters to pronounce the brand name. I've heard everything from see-oh-moez to say-ow-mahz to sh-ow-moss. For years, I didn't think it was a big deal, but fluency bias suggests this probably has a substantive negative impact on the brand's perception.
- The SEOmoz name retains a strong branding connection and expectation to our historical consulting business (just last week, I received 4 consulting inquiries!). We haven't offered consulting in many years, and this move can help distance our 2004-2009 incarnation from the software focus we have today.
- For the sake of transparency, I need to be honest that this is also marketing move - a rebrand is a chance to earn a second look from people who've long known us and had associations with the company. We hope that second look is going to lead those who haven't yet seen what we've become over the last few years to check out our content, Moz Analytics, and the many functions our research tools provide.
What we are not doing, and I am most certainly not doing, is giving up on the fight for the legitimacy, value, and importance of SEO. Organic search remains my personal passion, and one of the most powerful marketing channels in history. For as long as I'm active in the field, I will be shouting the value of SEO from the stages on which I present, the publications where I write, and the social channels where I share.
Moz will be part of that battle, too.
The Mission & Vision for Moz
Moz's mission is to help people do better marketing.
We've long had a similar core purpose with SEOmoz - to simplify the promotion of ideas on the web. But "better marketing" is a more accurate and succinct description of why we exist. Moz is about educating marketers and those they work with. It's about providing tools and software to help measure and improve marketing efforts. It's about giving marketers a platform to ask questions and show off their skill and knowledge. The catalyst for all of that is a belief we hold - that, tragically, a lot of marketing sucks.
Together, we can change that. The marketers who are part of the Moz community are on the cutting edge of technology and tactics, but they're also passionate about bringing value from their efforts without compromising ethics or burning bridges with customers. We want to constantly push ourselves and the world of marketing to join them and do better.
Moz's current vision is to power the shift from interruption to inbound marketing by giving every marketer affordable software to measure and improve their efforts.
Today, 90% of marketing investment is spent on channels that interrupt people in order to get their attention. TV commercials, print ads, radio spots, and billboards are part of this, but so too are web channels like banner advertising, pop-ups and pop-unders, non-opt-in emails, and interstitials.
It's not that these channels are evil or wrong - interruption-based marketing can still be effective if it's done empathetically and delights its audience. But on the web at least, less than 10% of all the clicks and traffic go through these channels. The vast majority of web users' time and attention, whether desktop, tablet, or mobile goes to inbound sources - personal & opt-in emails we want to read, content we want to consume, search results we want to click, social media we want to engage with, videos we want to watch, etc.
We believe that in the next decade, the effort and dollars put toward web marketing will become more sophisticated, and growth in channels like SEO, social media marketing, content creation, etc. will dwarf the growth rates of those in more traditional, interruption-based endeavors. For many institutional and historic reasons (including the self-interest of web properties to encourage the flow of ad dollars), these may never be fully proportional, but our passion and our goal is to help marketers, especially those outside Fortune 1000s, with analytics and recommendations for these earned channels.
Our core values remain unchanged. They are TAGFEE:
- Transparency - we believe in sharing what we know and what we do openly, and in letting everyone participate in the adventure that is Moz.
- Authenticity - we never want to be someone other than ourselves. We won't put on a figurative fancy suit just to impress; we will embrace our true identities and let everyone experience the real us.
- Generosity - we believe in giving without thought of return, and in sharing what we have with others. Our generosity should extend to our co-workers, our customers, and our communities, all of whom have already given so generously to us.
- Fun - work is only work if you make it so. We want to always love what we do, and we believe that love and enjoyment of our professional tasks will carry us through the tough times.
- Empathy - it is our duty to put ourselves in the shoes of others and see things from their perspective. Empathy begins with kindness, too, and we seek to apply warmth and understanding in every aspect of how we do business.
- The Exception - wherever there is a common practice or standard methodology, we seek to question its value before deciding what to do. We believe that immense opportunity exists where others fear to tread. Our goal is to be the exception, not stick to the rules.
These three elements - our mission, vision, and values - are the architecture that helps us operate and grow the company. They're also the yardstick against which we measure ourselves and expect to be judged by others. If you see us engaging in behavior that's not a match with this, or if you're ever confused by how what we've done compares to our mission, vision, and values, call us on it. Being held accountable is the best way for us to stay true to the right path.
The Beta Launch of Moz Analytics
The move to Moz isn't purely a branding change. It's also the launch of Moz Analytics in Beta, our upgrade (and eventual replacement) for SEOmoz PRO. Moz Analytics dramatically upgrades the SEO-focused features of SEOmoz PRO while adding much more depth and breadth for tracking 4 other critical inbound channels: social, content, links, and mentions. A handful of our customer advisory board members have been given access today, and over the next 60-90 days, we'll be sending invitations to every PRO subscriber.
Below is a glimpse of what's to come:
(Note that I've used sample data in this screenshot and the one below! Thankfully we got more than 115 direct visits in March)
Moz Analytics is designed to bring together all of the functionality of SEOmoz PRO into the search section, and add large sets of new data and reports in the new tabs: overview, social, links, brand + mentions, and content (a section that will be added after the launch of the others). We believe that all your data about inbound channels should be aggregated in one place, and while this is only the first step, it's a significant collection of metrics, tracked over time, and comparable against your competition.
(Note that this "competition" section in the overview isn't yet ready, but is on the list of "coming soon" features)
In the weeks to come, our product team will be posting a detailed walkthrough of each section and all the features in Moz Analytics, so I won't dive too deep here. I will, however, note that the Beta launch means there's still kinks to be worked out and plenty of features to add. We'd love your feedback via this feature suggestion/bug report page (and you can see our planned work items there, too).
There are two ways to join the Moz Analytics invite list:
- Sign up for a free trial of Moz PRO (which includes access to all of our research tools like Open Site Explorer, the Mozbar, FollowerWonk, Fresh Web Explorer, Keyword Difficulty, Rank Tracker, etc) and request your Moz Analytics invite. Moz subscribers will be the first folks to get access, in order of when you request your invitation.
- Request an email invite to Moz Analytics once it's open to new subscribers. This may take a bit longer, but we'll email you as soon as we're ready to allow public access. My best guess is that this will be 60-90 days from now.
If you're not yet on the waiting list for an invite, you can sign up via the link below.
Here's our current plan for opening up access to Moz Analytics (subject to change):
- Over the next 30 days: Roll out access to our customer advisory board members and fix the bugs and UI issues they help us discover (thank you so much!)
- 30-60 days out: Enable access for our paying subscribers and those in a free trial (your campaigns will migrate directly over)
- 60-90 days out: Send emails to those on the invite list which will give the ability to create campaigns and test the software
- 90+ days out: Open from private to public beta, and allow new folks visiting Moz.com to set up campaigns via a free trial
It's important to note that these dates may shift earlier or later as we have more people testing the application and importing data. We have a very talented group of engineers and product folks behind Moz Analytics who want to make sure that those who get access have a usable experience with consistent, accurate data. If we need more time to give a great first look, please be patient! In the meantime, all of our research tools and the PRO Web App will still be available and fully functional.
UPDATE: For those asking, Moz Analytics will be part of your current subscription package at no extra cost. If you're currently a subscriber, you'll get access automatically in the weeks/months ahead as we roll it out and import everyone's campaigns.
Plans for the Years Ahead
Today, we're setting the foundation for the future. Moz Analytics is a first step, but there's many more to come. We've got some big priorities on our plate, and I want to make these transparent. Here's our priorities, in rough order:
#1: Make Moz Analytics Incredible
The beta launch today and the refinements in the weeks to come are just the beginning of what this product will eventually become. The goal of Moz Analytics boils down to three primary components:
- All the data from your inbound channels tracked in one place, over time, against competition, with great reporting functionality
- Prescriptive recommendations everywhere it makes sense to provide them
- A robust set of research tools to dig into the field at large and discover opportunities, expose interesting data, and explore web-scale metrics
Today's launch provides a chunk of early features that address these goals. But I'm always passionate about the future, and I know the horizon holds some remarkable advances. Of particular interest to me are our plans to upgrade rank data to help make it more accurate, more aggregated, more useful, and to show comparisons with other sources of similar information (e.g. the VED parameter). Later, when we launch the content section, we'll be able to track the pages on your site that earn the most traffic, links, shares, and engagement, and compare them against the most successful content produced by your competitors. We're also in the process of building multi-seat access in so you can give multiple users the ability to view campaigns (with controls to select who can see and do what).
Now that Moz and Moz Analytics have launched, you can expect to see far more transparency from us about our product roadmap, and the progress we're making.
#2: Grow Mozscape & Freshscape
Mozscape's index (which powers Open Site Explorer) has a great signal to noise ratio and its metrics are the best correlated with Google's rankings. The sites, pages, and links in its index are almost always ones Google has seen and indexed, and the links, when hand-checked, nearly always still exist. By contrast, Mozscape's primary competitors have much larger indices, often poorer metrics, and a larger percent of transient links. For a long time, we believed that this differentiating proposition was a valuable one, but we've heard otherwise from many of our customers.
What Mozscape needs to be is the perfect link index. It should be:
- Close to Google's main index's size and freshness, including links that may be purely spam (though not including links that are highly ephemeral and don't exist when hand-checked)
- Maintain extremely good metrics that correlate well to the pages/sites performing well in Google's results
- Highly flexible, containing numerous, fast options for sorting and filtering data
- Able to be queried historically to show trends, lost & gained links, and changes over time (even to those who haven't been tracking the data in their campaigns)
- Eminently useful and usable via a robust API (we've already made some recent upgrades here)
This is a major focus for our big data team over the next 9 months, and you should anticipate remarkable progress toward each of these goals.
Likewise, Freshscape, the index that powers Fresh Web Explorer, needs to become bigger while retaining a high ratio of signal to noise. We currently have ~4 million feeds in Freshscape. Our initial pull of anything with an RSS feed from Mozscape revealed many millions more, but the quantity of junk was far too high (lots of sites have feeds for just about everything they publish). Thus, we're trying a bunch of tactics now to uncover and include the feeds that show links and mentions marketers actually care to see.
Another major feature we'll be adding to FWE is email alerts. The index already shows tons of mentions and links that Google Alerts ignores, and we think the ability to select a range of feed authority sites to display, along with many more knobs to tune will make FWE alerts a remarkably useful service.
#3: Launch a Product for Local Marketers
A huge percent of the marketers we meet and interact with serve primarily local clients operating in specific geographic markets. They may care about a few standard web rankings, but they also care deeply about local/maps results, along with their ratings/reviews/visibility/accuracy on services like Yelp, FourSquare, CitySearch, TripAdvisor, Urbanspoon, Apple Maps, and the like.
With the acquisition of GetListed and the help of David Mihm, we've got a local squad of engineers, designers, product folks, and marketers working in concert to create the functionality local marketers (whether they be small business owners or consultants/agencies) need. We hope to have this product available by the end of 2013 as a standalone, and we'll be adding many of the features to Moz Analytics as well (probably in a separate tab on the left sidebar).
#4: Organize the Web's Domains to Make Link & Mention Data More Useful
As I do research into my links and those of my competition and colleagues, I want to see what percent come from blogs, what percent come from e-commerce sites, what percent come from sites about software, hardware, movies, heck, even crafting sites. And beyond these percentages, I want to be able to browse all the blogs on the subject of toys and games in descending Domain Authority order. Annotating this data to millions of sites is hard, but it's possible and it's incredibly valuable.
In the year to come, we have teams working on both manual classification and machine learning to help build this structured data layer on top of our Mozscape and Freshscape indices (and on top of the domains that refer traffic in your Moz Analytics account).
#5: Create a Traffic Prediction Algorithm that Actually Works
Alexa, Compete, Doubleclick, Google Trends for Websites, and Quantcast all try to give predictions for a website's traffic, but none of them are remotely close to accurate, not even directionally!
For the top several thousand sites on the web, the metrics can be decent, but anyone running a non-top-1,000 web property knows that the stats from these services simply don't add up. At Moz, we believe we've got access to enough kinds of valuable data - the link graph, search results, social media metrics, brand mentions, etc. - to give us the potential for a far better traffic prediction algorithm that truly works in the long tail of the web. We'll likely never get to the level of granular accuracy that true visitor analytics provide, but we might be able to provide something much more correct and useful than what the existing field does today.
This is a long-term project for the Mozzers, and I have no guesses today about when such a service might launch. I can promise to keep you up-to-date as we make progress against this goal over the months and years to come.
Notable Changes & Announcements
Moving our site from seomoz.org to Moz.com isn't the only big change happening today. As part of this rebrand, our social accounts, RSS feed, and other important resources are also moving a bit. Here's the important ones:
- You can now find us on the Twitter account @Moz
- Our Facebook page has changed to Facebook.com/Moz
- This blog's RSS feed has moved to https://feeds.feedburner.com/mozblog
- YouMoz is also moving its RSS feed to https://feeds.feedburner.com/youmoz
Naturally, with any shift of this magnitude, there'll be some kinks to work out. We'd ask for your patience as we make some fixes, but we'd also love your help - if you discover anything broken/not working right with our content, our site, or our social profiles, please let us know by tweeting at us or dropping a line to help at seomoz dot org.
Finally, I'd like to say thank you. Thank you so, so much for helping a tiny blog turn into something so remarkable. I'm overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, the offers of help, the kind words, and the incredible team and community that have built up around Moz these past 9 years. As I left the office last night, it was a bit like saying goodbye to an old friend.
SEOmoz was something special, and Moz, with your help and support, will be something even more special. If ever I can help repay my debt of gratitude, just let me know and I'll do my best to fit it into this crazy schedule I've somehow found myself in. You can reach me directly now via rand at moz.com (replacing my old rand at seomoz.org email), or tweet @randfish.
With hugs, love, and gratitude,
Rand Fishkin, CEO of SEOmoz Moz
p.s. We'll be sure to do an interesting case study on the impact this domain migration has on our search traffic. :-)
FANTASTIC! The new MozAnalytics is a great service that provides fantastic value for inbound marketing. It's amazing to me that you're still offering it at the same price to current customers. Talk about Generous!
Congratulations on the launch, the new branding, and all your success over the years... and all that's to come in the future!
Thanks for the kind words and for sticking with us through the years, Jonathon! It's wonderful to have you in the Moz community :)
Congratulations ! True, you deserve more than SeoMoz; you're the number one community for inbound marketing. I love you SEOMOZ ! Ouups... I love you MOZ !
All in one platform, , , Awesome
SEOmoz now Marketing Moz !!!
Blown.Away.
Great job Moz #doingthehappydance
And now let's play with Moz Analytics :)
We're all #doingthehappydance, as well :) Thanks for the support, Gianluca! We're excited to hear your feedback on Moz Analytics.
Kudos Team moz!! Moz.com looks great. Rebranding isn't easy, redirection of ten's & thousand's of URLs from one domain to the other takes a toll on anyone and is a solid challenge for any Inbound marketer. Couldn't find a 404, or there wasn't any chaos! Crisp and clear. Long Live team Moz and Roger! Keep Rocking!
Thanks, Rank Watch! Our engineering teams and SEO did a stellar job in leading the charge :)
Seriously, the analytics looks pretty solid. I wonder how small guys will be able to use it .
Absolutely love #thenewmoz . Moz.com makes so much sense. Congrats on the new look and features, also love your philosophy. Warms my heart! Thank you so much for providing such amazing tools. I recently joined moz but have followed the blog for awhile now, wish i joined sooner but i think i jumped in at the perfect time.
another plus to the new name....my girlfriend won't think I'm saying "lamaze" anymore!
Awww :-D Bittersweet but very exciting! Congrats on all of your hard work. I am super excited to see what is to come!
It's a great move and a smart decision, guys and gals. Congratulations on the successful launch and move.
I know I'm nitpicking here, but I noticed that you say inbound is "powered by creativity, talent, and effort," and that interruption marketing is "powered by budget and repetition." That's a little unfair, especially if you're including TV, radio, and print ads. A great ad campaign requires tons of creativity and understanding of who the customers are and what will stand out to them.
We should try to become so narrowly focused on our field of marketing that we dismiss the skills and talents that other marketers apply to succeed. We've done that before, and I think Moz is a great way to move past that. I'm not saying we should all learn how to make TV ads, but we should see the value in what they do. We can learn a lot from them, even if we market differently.
I really love the 5 goals you laid out, and I can't wait to see what you come up with. :)
Howdy, Moz fans! Our RSS feeds have officially been updated.
You can now find the main blog feed at: https://feeds.feedburner.com/mozblog
And the YouMoz feed has moved to: https://feeds.feedburner.com/youmoz
Happy reading!
Thanks greatly apreciated @AshleyTate. Btw is mozzarella the official company cheese too?
I just LOL'd probably more than I should have. #goodone
MOZsome!
Happy dance for one of my favorite companies. I can't remember how I originally found SEOmoz (now MOZ), but becoming a PRO member is one of the best business decisions I've ever made.
I loved following the road to MOZ and finding new marketing tools along the way. Can't wait to see what's next.
Congratulations to you, Rand and staff. Well done.
Thanks so much, zharriet! We've been happy dancing all morning at the Mozplex :) We're excited for you to try out Moz Analytics!
Awesome design and I'm really looking forward to see what you guys come up with!
Refreshed Moz.com at least a dozen times this afternoon (and for sure I'm in the first 50 of beta sign ups ;-)).
Thanks, Martijn! We're thrilled to hear you like it :) Enjoy Moz Analytics!
Wow, you guys have done an outstanding job with the redesign and re-branding. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Moz. I'm sure it will be bright and I'm glad to hear Roger is sticking around!
Love the new branding and I'm totally stealing TAGFEE. Great job as always!
Thanks, Alan! We love when people use the TAGFEE values in their own lives; steal away!
Thrilled to finally see this come to fruition! As Tony the Tiger would say, it looks GREEEEEAAAAAAT!
Having had the opportunity as a CAB member to see Moz Analytics "in the making" for the past year, I want to share how impressed I've been at the Moz team's openness to feedback. This definitely was not done in a bubble.
The rebranding was a step in courage and following your heart and TAGFEE. In general, people don't like change. There will be those that fight and those that embrace. <3 you!
Thanks for the kind words, Dana! We've been so lucky to have your feedback as we build out Moz Analytics. Change can be a scary thing sometimes, but with change comes opportunity. We're incredibly excited for what lies ahead :)
Awww, I'm waxing a bit nostalgic this morning. I kind of feel like I've lost an old friend. Change is hard but necessary and I'm along for the ride. I do feel like those of us who use(d) SEOMoz every day were a little bit left in the dark on this one. Not that any of this really surprises me. Changes are inevitable. It just would have been nice to have a heads up (or perhaps there was one and I completely missed it?...certainly a possibility).
One item I have as feedback: The light blue hyoerlinks are extremely hard to read. Is anyone else thinking the same thing?
Now I'm off to figure out where Roger moved my cheese.....
Thanks for your continued support, Dana! All good surprises come with a bit of suspense, so we appreciate your understanding. We tried to stir the chatter a bit by counting down to launch on our Facebook page - if you missed it, check it out!
Firstly congrats on the rebrand, the new site looks great! Obviously a lot of hard work and carefully orchestrated plans coming to fruition.
I've struggled with this SEO branding issue myself. As a freelancer should a be an SEO Consultant? Online Marketer? Web Strategist? Inbound person?!! ...and your recent Whiteboard Friday 'Why We Can't Just Be SEO's Anymore' was like my inner turmoil voiced.
That said, I can't help but wonder if you've prematurely jumped ship just as SEO is getting known and the good info that yourselves and others promote is starting to trickle (albeit slowly) down to the masses. I've certainly noticed a little more positive talk from non-SEO's in recent months. However I admit it's a struggle and in many ways an uphill battle.
I just hope SEO doesn't get diluted inside Moz.com. In the past year or so of my own learning SEOmoz has been a must-have resource, and in particular some of the more technical and complex questions I've had I knew I could find information on SEOmoz.
That said you're the trail blazers and if anyone can show us the way it's you guys. I look forward to seeing how the new Moz.com, and the industry as whole evolves.
I wish you guys all the best with the rebranding. But where is our robot friend Roger?
Thank you! Don't worry, Roger is definitely still leading the Moz team. You can find him on the home page and all around the new site :)
Seems like a smart move. I am looking forward to some sexy mozalytics. Keep up the god work Mozzers!
Congratulations! Great redesign and redirection. This company is the reason I have a job and am able to stay up to date in a changing industry. Your posts inspire me and have helped me grow my career, a career I am beyond fortunate to love. SEOmoz, or rather, Moz remains one of my "company crushes" (up there with Disney ha). Thank you Rand & team.
One question, any chance of a new pricing model? I do marketing in house and it would be helpful to pay for one campaign only, since that is all we're using. Or, as I grow as a consultant, be able to start with one campaign and add campaigns (and pay more as a result) as I take on new clients. Thoughts?
You just perfectly said everything I was thinking. Especially the first paqragraph.
Excellent work with the rebrand, Rand. I see a few issues using old URLs, but I'm sure you'll hammer these out as time passes.
Looking forward to the new feel and look. Don't get too corporate on us.
Thanks for the kind words! We're still smoothing out a few pieces of the migration, so stay tuned :)
We think that Moz is anything but corporate - have you checked out our About page?
Id vote Roger for the favicon/mozbar or something else. Blue 'M' is a bit on the corporate side. (just my thoughts)
Cool stuff. I've been through my share of company rebranding and repositioning, and I understand the hard work involved. Here's a big Kudos to the whole Moz team.
The funny part in this whole change is that my username/acronym has been MOZ for the past 20 years... Whenever I see those 3 letters in a project plan, that means I'm the man to get that task done. It will be weirdly cool to go use on a daily basis an app that has my nickname! :)
Once again, great job everyone!
Michel "MOZ" Ozzello
Moz and Moz go pretty well together :) Thanks for giving the rebrand a look, we're excited to hear your feedback as you dive into Moz Analytics!
The Moz Blog & YouMoz RSS feeds are not working :/
Thanks for letting us know, Takeshi! We're in the process of updating them now, and will update the blog post once the changes have been processed. Thanks for your patience!
Also the request links on https://moz.com/users/subscription page are missing a '/'.... Currently, Request Invite
Thanks Djlaidler, we've got those fixed now.
This is no small endeavour, Rand and the Team. Rebranding takes a lot of time, thought and consideration and this post simply shows that this has been true for you guys.
We are also battling with how to marketing 'SEO' and more of our business is not about rankings, but about generating solid web leads and creating real life 'links' between businesses and people and I unfortunately have to agree with your interpretation about the associations made with the acronym 'SEO' even when what you offer is solid, reliable and sustainable.
So well done on the rebrand, I hope our team get used to the new layout pretty quickly, but things are looking up and forward. We look forward to continuing to work using Moz tools and being part of the community here.
Onwards and Upwards!
Thanks for the kind words, Martin! Best of luck to you and your team as you pursue better marketing :)
A hearty congratulations to Rand and all the mozzers that played their part in this incredible achievement. The build-up delivered Expectation and Anticipation in equal parts. Vital ingredients in any sea change.
Can't wait to get stuck into the new tools.
@ Ashley - great job fielding all the comments in this record breaking(?) thread.
@ All the moz engineers - site is loading blitz fast here in South Africa. Like 10 x faster than before. Stoked. Thank you.
@ Jon C - dang, you're quick on the trigger. See you at MozCon. I owe you a coffee!
I LOVE that the site's loading so much faster for you. =D
Right on MOZ!
That's a massive amount of info, love that first letter of TAGFEE ;]
I'm highly anticipating getting my hands on these customizable reports. As both agencies I do work for have changed from SEO to a full on inbound marketing approach (as I've pushed for) we have been trying to find an appropriate reporting tool that makes sense for our overall campaigns. The problem was that we still wanted all of the functionality we had with SEOmoz Pro, but the reports were lacking the overall information we required. After seeing just those small screenshots of MOZ Analytics I pretty much nerded out a bit.
This will be a game-changer, it will make my life a hell-of-a-lot easier and our clients will be better for it.
Cheers, MOZ!
Nerding out over Moz Analytics is one of our favorite things; glad you found it enjoyable, too :) We look forward to hearing your thoughts once you check out the new tools!
One thing I would be interested in hearing about is if MOZ has any plans of implementing a multi-user functionality with Moz Analytics, so one agency can allow permissions to multiple accounts. Meaning I could be logged into my personal account and still manage my client's campaigns that are on my manager's account (instead of having to log into my manager's account).
Love everything but this would mean the world to me. :D
You're in luck; this feature is in the works! Our engineering team is currently working on it, so stay tuned :)
Thanks for this information.....
Well, you know by now that I left you some lengthy feedback on the changes but I do want to say something positive. The site loads INSANELY fast now. That's a positive experience, despite some of the criticisms I have placed elsewhere. The speed is a great update.
(As far as comments to blog posts, is there a way to change the default from "show top comments" to the normal chrono comments without doing it for each post? If not, consider that my next suggestion.)
Thanks so much, Matt! We're happy that you're happy with the new site :)
As for sorting comments, you can check the "Sort comments by popularity" box once you're logged in to sort comments by time rather than popularity. We currently don't have a default option to sort this way for all posts, but will definitely keep your suggestion in mind!
Re-branding in itself is a real challenge. Updating your site (and improving it) is another. But having the guts to do both AND signal the the evolving nature of online marketing (as a pioneer) simply takes the biscuit - and your team (from top down) has pulled it off, big time...
One of the most positive and inspiring stories within the online marketing industry is the SEOmoz story. And now Moz becomes your (and our) next exciting adventure. So bloody well done guys - keep charging and growing. There's an awful lot of pro's out there who you inspire :)
That's so generous of you, Tony! Thanks so much for the kind words. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on Moz Analytics!
Great way to put it!
Great stuff Rand! First off, congrats on launching Moz! I am sure it has to be hard steering somewhat away from the SEOmoz brand you have built over the years.
I can't wait to try out Moz Analytics and am particularly interested in the future tools for local marketers you come out with! One question I have, with dropping the "SEO" from Moz, are there any plans on developing any paid search or email marketing tools into Moz?
PS: We're all still waiting for a responsive or mobile version for the blog :)
Responsive version is coming soon :-) Just have a lot on our plate.
No plans for paid search tools, but we may have some integrations with email suites in the future (likely 6+ months out as the roadmap has many more things ahead of it).
Very excited I am!
Off Topic Problem.... there is some line of code in your blog that is keeping Firefox 21 from opening a link in a new tab with the middle mouse button.
Just found another bug: If you try to edit your Moz profile it gives an error saying "Please match the requested format." for the nickname, even though it is in the right format. Can't edit my profile at all.
Big congratulations from everyone here at Kick Point. It's been awesome seeing this evolve and we're really excited for the new changes, especially the local stuff! You guys rock.
Do you want to say that PPC is also a part of Inbound Marketing?
However, PPC always runs on as and when required, and on top of that it always interrupts the visitors of your website, regardless of their needs. Imagine about infolinks ads, in-text links ads, etc.
But, interestingly you've separated banner and contextual ads from PPC, which're ideally an indispensable part of PPC. PPC is not just search ads, it consists of search ads, banners ads, contextual ads, and various other formats.
Besides, video ads have always been a part of PPC, right?
You very well know what PPC is and is not, but for your own convenience you are manipulating it for the sake your beloved inbound marketing concept.
Well first of all, congratulations to the Moz team on the super smooth migration! I was in SEOMoz about 30 mins ago, and on a page refresh got a nice little note from Roger to let me know that you guys were making some changes. A few emails and errands later, I come back and am now all Mozzed up and ready to go! Sleek, very sleek. No panic, no mess, no fuss, just smooth.
The new dashboard is clean and intuitive and the upcoming features look amazing!
Great job guys, and looking forward to seeing what the next few months bring!
Yours, patiently waiting in line for a peek at Moz Analytics. :)
Woo hoo! We're thrilled to hear the transition was smooth for you :)
Thanks for sticking by us, and we hope you enjoy Moz Analytics!
The name "SEO" will soon drop the "S" and change the "Engine" to "Engagement"
New logo and design looks great, easy to navigate and very clean. I know the real reason you guys rebranded.... You wanted a .com over a .org : ) top level domain ranks better.
JK you guys rock!
little bug.. Just posted this and it says "3 hours ago"
Thanks for letting us know! We're looking into it.
I thought it might be an EST and PST difference.
Thanks Boasting Biz. We rebranded for a host of reasons. One small reason for me at least was the pain of explaning how to pronaounce SEOmoz. LOL!
The pain of every seo company, having "seo' in its name. That moment: the first time you show your business card to your mom and she reads, "Whats SEE-OOO...?"
@Boasting Biz and its a 3 letter domain name that can be a bitly url shortner in itself :)
Nice rebrand, yadda, yadda. But what happened to the detailed Site Crawl that was part of the Pro Tools Suite? It seems to have disappeared. That was a FANTASTIC resource and personally, if that's gone, that's a huge downgrade on your offered site auditing functions. Any information?
Hey!
We're actually going to be adding that functionality to Campaigns in Moz Analytics. Sorry for the scare! They'll be back. :)
Plans around the crawl test tool are still in a bit of flux, but you can still access and use the tool here: https://pro.moz.com/tools/crawl-test. It's good to know how critical this tool is to you and others. We are discussing the best ways to ensure that this crawl functionality continues to be supported going forward.
Good Job !!! Great
have fun with the 301 redirects :)
The new design looks great and I'm excited to to check everything out.
I'm nervous... but highly optimistic!
How did you change your Facebook name? I keep seeing you have to have less than 200 likes to change your name?
Big Congrats to the team! As a Pro Member, I can't wait to get access to all the new cool stuff! BTW good job with the redesign!
So... what can you do with this which you cant with Google Analytics?
hey at least you don't have to change the name of "Mozcon"
Wish you all the best for the future - the analytics stuff sounds awesome, and can't wait to see it come to fruition. On a quick side note (which your probably aware) a mobile friendly version of the blog would be a big plus - I was trying to read this post on my iphone this morning and had to do an awful lot of horizontal scrolling when zoomed in enough to make the text a readable size.
Thanks for the kind words, James77. A responsive design is in the works, so stay tuned!
This is awesome. I'm a huge fan of the new look - big props to your design team!
Moz, or SEOmoz, you will always be the Wizards of Moz! Great logic and best wishes on the new branding.
I'm disappointed in the new site/look for a few reasons:
1. It seems like SEO is no longer a focus of SEOMoz...the change makes me think there's a better product available for my specific needs. I don't believe that, but I'm much more likely to explore alternatives now.
Quite frankly, if I saw "moz.com" today, I'd assume it was something brand managers used to pretend to do SEO.
2. I miss the old competitive link finder tool. I realize it wasn't working as well as it should, but why can't I still use it? The code is written...just update the front end and stuff it in some corner. I really don't understand this move (*and yes, I know we can get this data ourselves, it was just a nice simple way to find some link ideas).
3. Who's bright idea was it to stop sending me data in my weekly ranking update emails? Instead of a quick glance, I've got to click a link and wait for the new Moz.com to load...
If it's about the user, why not make it easy for me to get my data? I'm already a paying customer: Asking me to keep coming back to the website might be good for your numbers, but it's not good for my experience.
While I appreciate that all businesses must grow and change, I'm of the opinion that SEOMoz is gone forever, and what's replaced it is a company that's not really about SEO.
I understand where you're coming from with numbers two and especially three (very annoying), but I don't understand this:
"I'm of the opinion that SEOMoz is gone forever, and what's replaced it is a company that's not really about SEO."
Thanks kind of the point. While I don't believe that SEO is dead, I do believe that it's no longer its own entity. SEO on it's own without inbound marketing and #RCS more often than not equals SPAM. Think about with the term stands for. SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION. Moz has been saying for a long time now that nothing should be done for the sole purpose of search engines. In my opinion, if they were NOT to make this company change, they would be out of line with their own values and kind of hypocritical.
Came to check something in the opensiteexplorer. Got carried away by the fantastic redesign and now i'm wondering what did i wanted to do!
Makes sense and I actually prefer Moz, so much quicker to say or write.
I hope you do a future post on the outcome of re-branding and the search engines?
We'll most definitely do that :-) I think Ruth wouldn't miss it for the world.
Thanks for the well-wishes, Christina! As Rand mentioned in the post, we're keeping a close eye on how the migration and rebrand impacts our search traffic. There are quite a few blog posts highlighting our findings to come!
We're also having Ruth do a Mozinar all about domain migration and the impact on moving from SEOmoz to Moz. You can sign up here: https://moz.com/webinars
Great looking interface. I can't wait to use it!!! Congrats
Rand Fishkin ,
Wen you talk about your company values : https://moz.com/about/tagfee
I do not understand why you want a comapny like : DOZ.com who purchased their domain name before you and are in business before your new moz.com should cancel their domain name and business tardemark because you and your team decided that their name sound like yours (even if you just changed your company name for moz.com).
When you list your values, I think you should adhere to those values before listing them on public place. Because I think that it just a marketing peech and nobody needs that at this time.
Even if you registered the trademark before them, their product has nothing to do with yours. They use a crowdsourcing based to make the online marketing, not moz.com, so why are you fithing on a legal place ? because your comapny have money ? or because Doz.com is a young start up on the market ? or both reason ?
I tink you should learn from Microsoft past and bad experience:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_vs._MikeRoweSoft
Full storry about Moz.com against Doz.com
https://www.rudebaguette.com/2013/05/31/why-trademarks-are-important-for-startups-how-seomoz-sent-us-a-takedown-notice/
Looks great. Can't wait for Moz Analytics to be complete.
Thanks much! We're excited for you to dive in and let us know what you think!
Been following you for years, can't wait to see you grow and get even better!
Wow, that's a lot to take in! Grats on the re-brand, it makes a lot of sense.
Can't wait to get my hands on Moz Analytics, it looks like it may be the Analytics platform of my dreams - fingers crossed the exports / white labeled reports are somewhat customisable and look just as slick. Will Moz Analytics (I'm already calling it Moz-alytics in my head) be included as part of Pro membership, or at an additional charge?
It's included for sure! And yes, still the same price.
White-labeled reports are part of the suite, too, and the exports should be looking pretty slick. We have a few more weeks of testing and tweaking ahead, but of course would love your feedback once we open access for PRO members.
Thanks David :-)
Great changes and beautiful design! Well done!
So...let's welcome ... The Wizard of Moz! :)
The pronunciation difficulties of 'seomoz' were interesting to read about - something I'd never even considered.
The new dashboard looks great - I'm especially looking forward to the multiple login capabilities and domain migration case study. Do you expect a big drop in organic search for 'seo' terms? Do you have any reasons for not going responsive?
Ha! My brother-in-law came to visit right after I got hired here and was like "tell me about this new company - shay-oh-moez?"
I am a bit nervous about removing so many instances of "SEO" from the site, but hopeful that our most-relevant pages on SEO will still continue to rank. I'll be publishing a blog post with my findings once I have more of them, and doing a Mozinar on the migration as a whole.
The responsive site is definitely on the roadmap and will be coming in a future release - we just had so much on our plate to get Moz.com out the door, we didn't want to wait a second longer!
Hi Ruth - no doubt you guys will be doing a thorough data-centric approach to reporting on the big moz migration, now if only everyone would stop creating such a buzz -- tweeting and sharing and mentioning and contenting -- so you could have a perfect A/B testing scenario ;)
Scientist *sigh*
Rand - I know you've been working on this for a while and know how hard it is to do, so congrats on this exciting step in your company growth. Also, I'm loving that PPC is on the "inbound marketing" side of your diagram! :)
Hi Rand,
You guys did a nice job on the re-branding. However, surely you are a big enough brand in your own right that you didn't need to create an almost identical favicon to Mashable!
Every comment is either 9/10 hours ago lol.
For a long time I thought things were becoming static product development wise. When I saw few of your acquisitions, I was actually waiting and wondering how all of those will fit into the big picture.
I like the direction in which things are going. Looks exciting. Eagerly waiting to see your products for local marketers!
Wish you all the success.
Whoaaa! Grats Moz- looking forward to seeing all the new stuff coming out - particularly the Moz analytics!
Sad to see SEOmoz go but looking forward to Moz Analytics though.
Looks Good :), Even after knowing seomoz.org is moz.com, i am so used to seomoz.org, that i have typed in four times in the address bar and got redirected at moz.com. :)
I love this new redesign, fully gave it a geeky smile.
Loving the vid, one of the best i have seen, give your post-production team a pat :)
BTW how much did you fork out to accuire moz.com haha, props guys +1
Congratulations Rand and the Moz Team. Big and bold move but clear your past big and bold moves paid off.
What can i say .. I am with you all the way !! it's a fresh new start
Loving the new look, however for my eyes the pale blue text is just a little to pale, compared to that of they grey.
Perhaps if it was the same shade of blue as the 51a60a41addd71.82695302.gif image (the interruption vs image) then it would be more readable without having to glare at the screen.
Liking the new website design and the re-brand in general, glad to see Roger will still be knocking about the place!
What is going on with the Rank Tracker tool? will it be integrated with the new analytics side of things or is it under-going a few changes?
I also don't think you'll go through the traditional rebranding hurdles, particularly because the part of the SEOMoz that sticks (from an auditory standpoint) is the MOZ. Exciting stuff.
Hey Moz team!! Awesome design and I'm really looking forward to see what you guys come up with :) :)
Does the analytics software track rankings for individual keywords, or just show the traffic coming from them?
For me SEO still incorporates more than just a narrow set of ideas, but can see why you removed it from your name as it makes many people think of spam, sadly.
Looking good, Moz :)
It's wonderful to see how well the transition went from SEOmoz to MOZ but yes looking forward to playing with the new Moz Analytics soon!
Oh funny thing to see SEOmoz.org/blog is still ranking #1 for "seo blog" and "SEOmoz.org" ranking for "seo software" I thought Google would have swapped that domain over by now...?
Hmm Moziee.. Looks like gonna change a lot.. Well do I still get the best blogs.. I think yes ;)
Congratulations, guys! I've been a PRO user for quite some time now (not on this account, I used to work for an internet agency before) and it's great to see that you keep on developing the company, toolset and all that which is fundamental for the AWESOME community that is now mOz!
Here's to many more years of mOz (and to many more cool SEO and online marketing features, of course)!
Congrats Rand and great name by the way ;)
"p.s. We'll be sure to do an interesting case study on the impact this domain migration has on our search traffic. :-)"
I'm looking forward to this the most.
It'd also be interesting to know how many "Forgotten Password" requests you've had ;)
I didn't think it was possible but if you somehow make MOZ better then seoMOZ.......you guys rock!
"It's surprisingly hard for folks who don't know to say the acronym "SEO" as letters to pronounce the brand name."
So very, very true! We learned that the hard way. Cannot wait for Moz Analytics - please skip me to the from of the line on that Beta!
Like the new name but at the moment the new design is proving a bit of trouble, doesn't seem as easy to navigate as the old SEOMoz site was? I would like to do a post on the transition on my blog Object Reference where can I find further information regarding Moz Analytics, looks like a big contender to Google's dominence :-)
It's truly incredible what you guys have achieved Congratulations. You deserve all the success that's to come. To us your like the Godfather of search :).
Incredible Tools, Incredible Content/Advice and the best community around period. Can't wait to get stuck in with the new features that are to come.
Cheers
Danny Howard
Congrats Moz team!
I really like the change Rand, and you said it so well with the statement "SEO is bigger than just SEO". SEO encompasses so many different things now, and I can understand wanting to get away from being tagged with just having an SEO emphasis. Moz.com is great. I'm just glad I wasn't the guy in charge of all the 301 redirects!
Good luck Moz! My partner and I are on the trial. I'm going to sign in now and play a bit :). What a leap you guys took, changing your url that had built up quite the quality reputation. Very commendable. Thanks for your great work.
Woohoo.. This is awesome!
Great move Guys.. Checking whether the post formatting issue is gone... Looks like its sorted now...
congrats for new moz analytics. . there are more functionality and more portable .
Great job guys, can't wait to work with this.
wow- excelent, can not wait to have access to analytics. Good work.
This is a step in the right direction.
Btw, I really like the updated design of the website.
This new awesome change made me so emotional... Felt like watching a live pokemon movie..where I am getting to see Our Old SEOmoz to evolve into MOZ. That's seriously magnificent change Rand. I am excited to be the part of this unique transition from former to present stage of Inbound Marketing.
Great Job. Thanks
Nice Stuff!!! Every time seomoz was give us to good knowledge about the internet marketing and now its resigning but no MOZ will give more... Im very happy to see your stuff and your performance. I'm always content with you and getting more knowledge.. thanks.
Congrats! Looking forward to join the beta test :)
Best news in digital for a long time. Really looking forward to the Inbound Analytics beta. Great work Moz.
Really awesome.... now you looking like a big fish in the water. :)
Hi Moz-team! Thanks for the extraordinary design change! I love the simple and clean design!
Look forward to testing the Moz Analytics. It looks like it could rock my world...
Wow. Great job guys. The new website looks awesome and extremely fast. Also, the Moz Analytics looks impressive. I'm just a member and yet very excited. God knows how it feels right now in Moz headquarters.
Best of luck and looking forward for the future of Moz.
PLEASE IGNORE-Did anyone have issues with the login remember me checkbox (seems not to work)?
Great to see the new layout and new features of MOZ! Hope it will bring a lot of updated ideas as well.
Great job done!
In fact I was thinking the same thing for the last couple of months. Why the 'SEO' is still there! Loved the change you have done and also looking forward to the new Analytics tool.
Awesome Look ! I like the new layout & design.Waiting to try the Moz Analytics !
I love everything about this change!
I saw a few comments by people wanting to know how this will differ from Google Analytics. Obviously, you wouldn't create a product that was similar to but not as good as that. I know there will be a webinar in about a month, but what about a blog post to pique people's interest in the mean time? A month is a lot of time for people's interests to fizzle out. At the same time, I shouldn't underestimate you guys. I'm sure you have great things in the works to keep us engaged along the way!
I guess I hit 1,000 Moz points a month too early. Now I want a Moz shirt instead! Someone saw me wearing it and said, "see-ah-moz?"
But great work! I remain a Moz fangirl.
Oh, and I saw a comment that said the "3 hours ago" thing on the new comments was fixed. it doesn't seem to be. It's got to be a time zone issue.
Loving it! the new look, idea, name and vision.
Hi Rand,
Throughout the years SEOmoz has definitely helped newcomers perceive the industry in a positive light and for that is why I think SEOmoz has grown to become such a great community. I hope as Moz you guys will continue to contribute to the success and growth of the industry and we can expect more great things to come.
Congrats on rebranding and we wish you guys all the success heading into the future!
Rand, will you please start calling yourself the Wizard of Moz? It would help us all through this transition....(:
He already is. Look at the staff part of their about section. It's his official title!
Happy to see new Moz look and designs and i am very excited to see Beta Moz Analytics . I loved following the road to MOZ and finding new marketing tools along the way. I Can't wait to see what is next.
Congratulations to you, Rand and all Moz staff.
The look and feel of the site overall was done spectacularly! The shift to this site couldn't have come at a better time, and I think the internet community will benefit from this change as you have set the example for how those who use the internet should shift in the future (once again). You have continued to hold the leadership position that you are responsible to hold in the position that you have! +Kudos!
I'm new here, and so far I've been thoroughly impressed with SeoMoz. Your content is solid and enlightening. The more I read, the more I realize how limited my knowledge about SEO and related aspects is. I have great hopes about the brand change as I associate change of brand to moving forward with improved thinking and planning. So I'm quite excited about Moz Analytics and how it will help the community.
I'm particularly keen to know about how the brand and domain change has affected traffic and SEO goodwill for MOZ and what steps you took to minimize the loss. Since we also recently underwent a brand and domain change, this would be an interesting case study for me personally. I'm sure I can take a few pointers and apply them to help our site get back on track. Thanks.
It will be great, if you could tell us how this re-branding took place behind the scene.
Great inspiring post !
There is nothing wrong with change! and btw i love the name MOZ, short and powerful!
@rand, its a nice move indeed!!! I really appreciate the change.. After all, SEO is not just SEO... Its all about online marketing. Since you guys were hardly trying to expand the boundaries of SEO to Online Marketing, an initiative such brand name change is a good start... Kudos & love.... Hashim :)
Great. I am waiting for #5.
Hey Its All Gravy Change Is As Good As The Rest. You Have A Great Site Here For Experts To Learn From Guys. Loving The Look And Feel Of Your New Home! :)
Looking good, Moz :)
"It's surprisingly hard for folks who don't know to say the acronym "SEO" as letters to pronounce the brand name."
If you're going to point out how obtuse others are for not pronouncing SEO correctly, wouldn't it be better to refer to it as an initialism instead of an acronym?
Moz Analytics looks pretty sharp at a glance. So Moz is just marketing and not SEO.
Great Updation by Moz ! it gives many new techniques and fundamental to others.
I personally really want access to this and I have been a paying user for months!
Hi! We're working hard to get all our PRO users into the beta in the next 30-60 days. We know it's been a long wait, but we want to make sure our tools are fully ready with all your data. Thanks for your patience.
NIce one!
Finally got the access to the new Moz, definitely refreshing take on the SEO dashboard but still buggy (beta). Keep us informed of the next released and preview upcoming features!
Congratulation Mozzers!!!
It's a great idea!
Really loving the new look guys, have been using the old system for several years through our pro company login and recently joined as an individual user. Can't wait to see Moz Analytics and keep up the good work.
Can't wait to get my hands on your new Reporting Tools.. they look really slick!
I was totallly shocked when i saw the new design on seomoz and suddenly i realized Oh My God seomoz redirects to moz.com It was an exciting moment for me. I just know one thing i am here and i will always be here but i will miss seomoz.
I love that so many people in the comments are worried about Roger. Maybe he needs a new portrait to go along with the re-branding? I'm picturing the yellow brick road with the emerald city in the background. ;-)
That is a great point about the difficulties of pronouncing "SEOmoz"; most non-marketing people I talk to aren't familiar with the acronym.
Good Post Rand and also Congrats to You and Your Team for this New Achievement.
And also Now the website loading time is very faster than other websites.
New branding can be very tricky and takes a good deal of courage - MOZ looks great!
I'm just glad Roger hasn't been sent to the robot scrapheap in the sky
I have only ever known this site as 'Moz' as I am pretty new to Search Marketing, however I always find myself coming on Moz far more frequently than any of the other blogs I've been recommended. Moz is friendly, insightful and full of regularly updated content which some other SEO/PPC blogs seem to struggle with!
Furthermore, I really look forward to the case study on the domain migration! Will be really interesting to see just how much the change has affected traffic, and how long it takes to recover from moves like this as I know many companies may wish to move to a new domain, but are reluctant to do so due to the risk of a loss of traffic. This case study could help outline whether migrating is a good move, or perhaps whether its just best to stay where you are, As well as giving tips on how to migrate successfully.
Overall, a great post and a great site.
Sam
congratulations, your service too good, maintain it and grow better with your new domain name.
MOZ is better than SEO MOZ. Everything has improved.
Presently SEO has completely changed and there are so many new concepts added day by day which makes SEO is different which is interesting to see and for this up gradation is required. The retirement of SEO MOZ to MOZ is good and its really prove helpful for us.
Congo Moz Team! :- )
Its really great to see new Moz. Appreciated for wondrous and brief intro. All the best guys! Looking forward for new and interesting tools. Even eagerly waiting for Responsive version!
Thanks. :)
This is so AWESOME
Seriously? You think people had a problem pronouncing SEO Moz, but you don't see a problem with Moz? How the heck DO you pronounce Moz?
It's pronounced like "Oz" (from the Wizard of Oz) with an M at the front. You'll hear Rand say it in Whiteboard Fridays, too.
Seriously, the analytic looks pretty solid. I wonder how small guys will be able to use it. Thanks for the nice posting...
amazing Work !
Yes, it seems that SEO has evolved to encompass so much of digital marketing, that former "SEO" agencies are rebranding themselves. It makes sense in the grand scheme and, as you point out, to pretend otherwise would be disingenuous. Also, Moz is shorter and in this age of 140 characters, shorter is better!
Please give us that migration report!
SEO is dying ? Is it true?
Good job with your redirects 301 ;-)
Hooray! Congrats on the funding, and we're thrilled you picked Moz :)
The rebranding of Moz will change in the future vision! I love this. Hopefully more of the more useful knowledge from SEO experts!
Nice logo and mainly nice domain. Congrats.
I am uncomfortable with the new brand because it is confusingly similar to the non-profit Mozilla Foundation. I wish that Moz had chosen a more unique name.
This blog is really remarkable. Thanks for sharing this great stuff. Keep sharing more useful and conspicuous stuff like this
This is a great step in the right direction. I can't wait until we can get rid of "SEO" altogether and start treating inbound marketing as the serious, complex effort that it is.
i had a trial also but it was stopped all of a sudden,i dont know what is going on,maybe this was meant to happen.if they say 30 days to,i expect to get thirty days,in this case no one will sign up or upgrade, bad business practice,
Hi! The trial shouldn't have stopped without any intervention before the thirty days. Could you please go to https://moz.com/help and contact our help team? We can look into your account that way and help figure this out. Thanks!
Hey Rand!
I just want to know that how much time you guys will take to accept my request for Moz Analytics beta account.
I had given my ID but no time frame for acceptence and rejection was given to me. Did you have any rough idea about that. Thanks
& Congratulations again for the change you had done.
Many Congraulations! to MOZians.
Hope this change will help you to grow more and more.
Superb updates guys, fits in with the SEO swear word mentality
also i miss roger being all over but it looks more "adult" now and the reports i suspect will look more formal :)
Is the getlisted.org site working? I keep getting error connection messages from Chrome and IE.
We did have some connection errors earlier, but everything should be fine now!
Gr8! good luck guys!
I'm using all your information in my blog.
I like the direction Moz's taking :)
Loving the new design guys - can't wait for the new tools either...
Smart move, new design is nice. Going to try Moz Analytics. All the best for future plans.
Moz is موز in my language. It's just a fruit! :D
This is amazing. I can not wait to try out the new MozAnalytics features.
Hey There all, What a Great Change from SEOMoz to Just a Moz. Great User interface, and Category Management. This transition is like one case study of How to Transit your brand from old to new one. Great work.!!
Rand and Team is really Great...!! Congratulations..!!!
Excellent..!!
You done a Great job...
a great goodbye to seomoz and hello to moz.
still make a eye on your old post's title.Hopes you here Mr Rand.
Congrats to the team!
Congrats!
I will say as an artist, that new design for order of magnitude worse. Many features at tools have disappeared, in general it is not clear exactly what is all this organized. Made a move for the sake of 3 letter domain?
Moz analytics - thanks! Wow a big change and alot of information in that article - fine job!
Hi Rand,
one question that I really would love to hear from you -
I see the prefect site migration you had.
Can you give me some pro tips for social site migration for the articles?
I have the same issue in here, and it's not going to be preety.
Ruth Burr (who is our in-house SEO and in charge of the migration project) will be writing a post and doing a webinar about the migration. Her webinar will be June 27th, and you can sign up at https://moz.com/webinars. There will be lots of time for questions at the end of the webinar.
Love the Inbound vs Interruption Marketing graphic. Interruption side should definitely include door-to-door sales; is there anything worse? Keep up the excellent work Moz and see you in July for #MozCon
Did the community rank listing retire (the list of users and their points)?
It's still here! When you go to Community there is a Top Users link that points to https://moz.com/community/users.
Keri-Thanks!
That's a great change i could see the completely new platform, moz sounds good :)
I will miss SEOMOZ. The monster in SEO world. But I appreciate their next giant move . I am with you throughou your journey.
Can we expect more new features in "Moz" ? I hope there will be some advantage for the free users :)
I can not wait for Moz Analytics :)
I can learn much about the SEO and Digital Marketing
Congrats Rand and team! I have been wondering this for awhile- when I share your site, I've had to give the caveat, "their name has SEO in it, but I learn a lot of general marketing tips from them so even if you aren't into SEO, you'll probably like it!" Onward & upward!
The thumbs up at the top of the page doesn't seem to work.
The moz is looking nice when compare to seomoz
Congrats! The re-brand definitely positions you to grow with the needs of us marketers over time. Very exciting.
But hey, that new door looks translucent - Not very TAGFEE if you ask me ;-)
Smart changing seomoz to "MOZ" . Well applied... I hope MOZ go to high demand for market .....
Sorry, a little late to the party, but congrats on the relaunch. The new interface looks great and am really looking forward to you guys rolling out all the new gadgets, gizmos and software in the future.
Onwards and upwards!
Though I'm late here, but I do not want to miss the opportunity to share my experience with new MOZ. The day when MOZ was launched I was quite shocked that where is SEOMOZ?, but when I read home page of MOZ carefully, then I understood that "now SEOMOZ is MOZ". The Interface of MOZ is looking COOL and more user-friendly and yet I have not got invitation for Moz Analytics beta, but according to reviews from MOZ members and users I think it is going to help me a lot.
Congratulation to Mr. Rand Fishkin and team for this Great move...
I would say commendable re-branding work. I like it so much. SEOmoz was bit boring - colorwise, but Moz looks as young as every new second. More a Piscean colour attracted me.
Just wow! Now the new look having an awesome eye catching view.... with all new colors!!! ... Many Congrats! Mozers :) Cheers!
Great move, congrats to everyone there, this'll totally be the catalyst to take it the next level.
WoW i love the new design. All the best guys! Expecting a case study from you about your new branding strategy, how you planned and executed it.
So massively excited to be getting a subscription! I just got funding! #happydance Best of luck with it all.
Hooray! Congrats on the funding, and we're thrilled you picked Moz :)
Some nice changes.. Can I say though, that your default light blue link color is WAAAYYY too hard to see.
Is this because of the comment I made about 'MOZ' being cleaner? lol the site looks great!!
Mentioned it back in May
Cheers to Moz! sounds way better as a lasting brand than SEOMoz :)
I like the last line. Domain migration has been a pain for many webmasters and SEOs across the world...lets see how moz performs...
I'm excited to see how we perform, as well! Look out for my blog post once we've got some results to share.
Wow. The site looks so much better. Much easier on the eyes, well done.
Congratulations! The new design looks great and very clean. Probably its time I should restart my subscription. I notice, a lot has changed here since I left it a couple of years back.
Thanks so much, ashukothari! The tool has changed dramatically over the last few years - we definitely encourage you to give it another look. To reserve your spot in line for Moz Analytics, head over to our invite page!
Great Job guys. Looks fantastic!! Way to go Seomoz..sorry..MOZ..
Wow! This is awesome, site looks flippin sweet! I can't hardly wait to see all these awesome changes!
I am logged into my paid account and I have no access to the profiles I set up or any of the tools.
Oh no! Head over to the Help Hub to chat with one of our Helpsters who can assist.
wow really cool update! Very excited to get access and play around with all of the new features... congratulations to the team! Also is there a specific place or tool we should use to report bugs?
If you have any feedback, feel free to send our help team an email at [email protected]. They'll help triage and take it from there!
Awesome! Can't wait to check out the new Analytics tool. It's too cruel to have to wait 30 more days..
Thanks for the enthusiasm, ALLee! We're working hard to release Moz Analytics as fast as we can. In the meantime, definitely check out the updates on the site!
Jolly Hockey Sticks ! all looks very exciting !!
The site looks great! I love the overhaul. Just a small thing to point out, and it's mainly relevant to hopeful future Mozzers (like myself) - the job postings on moz.com/careers still reflect the old branding. I'm sure it'll be worked on soon, but I thought it might be helpful for you all to know!
Thanks for the note, Phu - we're still ironing out the last details of the migration. =) We're glad you like the site!
The new look, es great, Moz is the best tool for SEO!
Whoa! Honestly, I saw this coming and have for the last couple of years.... and... it's about time! :)
That's why I trademarked the term "Human SEO(tm)" back in 2010. SEO was changing and my company doesn't just do "SEO" but, for all the reasons you listed, it does the "new SEO". (For lack of a better term.)
Luckily, I did trademark the term because every unethical and black-hat SEO has come out - trying to sell Human SEO(tm). Sure, it's a pain to put that little (tm) behind everything and I've got my lawyer working overtime but I really felt the need to protect the people - the small businesses, bloggers, entrepreneurs, etc. SEO was changing and it was time to educate people on how important social influence plays into their online success.
It isn't about the search engines but the humans. My motto is: Human First, Then Robots.
Great job team! I applaud you for taking the reins!
Colour me intrigued with the rebranding move. A bold move indeed.
/Question: Can somebody summarize advantages of Moza Analitics Vs. Google Analytics?
Great work Moz Team! Love the direction that you are heading! See you at MozCon!
Excited you'll be there! Be sure to stop by the booth and check out Moz Analytics :)
This is really exciting news. Congratulations and good luck with Moz (already better - less letters to type) to Rand and the team. Like many others I can't wait for Moz Analytics to come my way!
Congrats! Rand & Team. This site just looks awesome and hope new analytic would work great as well.
I like the New Look of your website. The design may have change. But, the quality of your articles, tools, etc is still as awesome as ever. CONGRATULATIONS MOZ!!!
This is great! SEOMoz already had tremendous value to me and my team, and now Moz is going to double down on it. And it's not even my birthday??
Looking forward to playing with Moz Analytics for a long time to come!
Thanks, Broadvox! We're sure that Moz Analytics will provide even more value, and we're excited to get your feedback. A very merry unbirthday to you! =)
Woohoo! Excited for all the great things to come.
Rand, I l-o-v-e this! Looking forward to seeing what you and the rest of the team will be rolling out in the future. Especially appreciate the focus for local marketers.
I can't wait to give Moz Analytics a spin! It looks like I was one week too early in cancelling my subscription... I've got to say I am 99% resold purely on the new website, videos, and promise of amazing analytics.
I'll keep my eye out for my invitation notification ;)
Are you sure you still want to use feedburner? Isnt this the next on the list from googles almost dead services???
We're sticking with Feedburner for the time being, but are keeping our eyes open for other options as they arise.
I am waiting for feedburner alternatives for years now... ;-)
SO COOL! More proof that #SeattleStartups are the best :)
So excited about your P.S. :) Thank you!!
I agree that it is hard to find a good banner designer but usually I hire a freelancer or I try to find a deal on Adsurf.net
Enough of this trivia! Let's get the important questions answered first!
What do I have to do to get a Moz T-Shirt. Seems the one I've got is now out of date!
Looking forward to getting my hands on those new products! Just need to get past the shock and the excitement and confusion!
We've got you covered! If you're headed to MozCon, get ready for some swag overload.
Congrats on the rebranding, Rand. So excited for the new MOZ and the analytics!
excited for you guys, and the impact you'll have on the industry in years to come. but where's roger?
Roger is definitely along for the ride! Check out our TAGFEE page to see him up close and personal.
Congratulations! Everything looks amazingly great. I am looking forward to seeing all the planned stuff in action, and especially #3.
Congrats on the move, it makes perfect sense and not even that surprising. Like everyone else, I'll continue to follow and learn from your team. Thanks.
Wow! Congrats on the new changes! I think the change from SEOmoz to Moz is a smart move.
Congrats on deploying the new Moz branding - looks great, it's been great to watch the company grow and develop over the years!
Looking good guys! Dig the new digs!
It all looks great - really looking forward to trying out the new Analytics! Fascinated how the traffic predictor will work out as well!
Just one question - will the tools for local marketers be focused in the USA? We're a UK company and it would be useful for it to work here too!
Thanks for checking it out, creativemay! We're pretty thrilled :)
It's likely that our local toolset will focus on the US market to begin with, but as the tool grows, we'll definitely be expanding into other countries. Our local team is pushing hard to include as many markets as we can, and it will only get better as time passes!
Truly inbound! This'll pick you up a few links ;)
This is so AWESOME! Very excited about Moz Analytics. Great job to all at Moz;-)
I am very excited for what is coming. The new site design is pretty awesome as well. Congrats on the shift and keep it coming!
Exciting, but good news. Congratulations! I can't wait to try out Moz Analytics. What are the plans for other Moz products? Will they be kept on their own sites, or will it all be integrated into this website (GetListed, Followerwonk)?
Also, are you rebranding Roger to Rog as well ;)?
Thanks a bunch, Martijn! For now, our tools like Followerwonk and GetListed will be staying the same, but stay tuned over the next few months for more exciting updates.
Roger is leading Moz in his current form :)
Stoked on the new changes and future of Moz, especially #3!
Congratulations on this philosophy and this new look. Your picture will look better! ;-)
If you manage to achieve #5 (Create a Traffic Prediction Algorithm that Actually Works) I will FOREVER tip my hat to you. As, I imagine, will the SEO community on the whole.
Congrats on the rebrand--the design looks great. And thank you for your continual help as the best SEO (sorry, marketing!) resource out there. Can't wait to test Moz Analytics!
Thanks, Jim! We'd love to hear your feedback once you check out Moz Analytics.
Welcome MOZ!! We look forward to you guys continually being an industry leader!
Here we go? SEOmoz became @moz with amazing new look. I am whiling to test it, What should I do?
Thanks for checking it out, Asif! Moz Analytics is still in Beta and will be rolled out to new subscribers over the next couple of months. Head over to our signup page to save your spot in line!
Also, every comment shows 13 hours ago.....
This issue should be fixed, but please let us know if it persists!
The move makes a lot of sense for Moz and the community as a whole. Excited to try out the new Moz and see what else is in store for the future. Great work on the redesign as well!
Thanks for the kind words, Lance! We're excited to get your feedback on the new tools.
This is SO exciting. Can't wait to whirl around the new analytics platform. Congrats to you and the entire team! Will this year's MozCon spend some focus on the new exciting features?
Thanks a lot, zadro! We're excited for you to check Moz Analytics out, too :)
We won't spend a ton of time highlighting new features of Moz Analytics at MozCon, but you'll be able to demo the product, ask Mozzers about new tools, and hear more about what's to come. To see the full lineup for the show, check out our #MozCon 2013 Agenda blog post.
when i hit the tweet button, it says: "Goodbye SEOmoz. Hello Moz! - Moz https://moz.com/blog/goodbye-seomoz-hello-moz via @SEOmoz". that should probably point to the new @moz twitter account. just passing along.
Thanks for letting us know, Larry - we're looking into it!
Good job! Great
Moz, this new website is amazing! Can't wait to use Analytics! I've been following Moz now for around 3 and a half years when I got into search marketing during Uni. I was excited to use the tools back then, but this change represents just how far you've all come in not very much time at all!
Well done Rand and the team!
That's awesome to hear, Aaron! Thanks for sticking with us :)
Great stuff guys - loving the new site design :) One question... have the 'Labs' tools been removed or am I just not looking hard enough?
Thanks, Matthew! If you check out our new tools page, you may be able to find what you're looking for.
This is a bit like unwrapping a present on Xmas morning. I'm sure the excitement will die down soon and we'll all get back to work :-)
Great work guys! I am happy to see this particular change. The vision presented is amazing, it gives a reminiscence on what Starbucks Coffee did with their rebranding and business model expansion. The analytics tools sound and look incredible, i cant wait to use them. I am looking forward to the case study of the rebrand, but it seems like there wont be a surprise, better tools, aligned vision, more coherence all around will result in better revenue and greater community. I am bit worried on the impact to the already PRO Subscribers, that rely on your tools. I hope in the next days you can lay out a guideline to long time subscribers!. Congratulations!!
Thanks so much, JesusD! Current PRO subscribers still have access to the tools they know and love, and their campaigns will not be affected. As we continue to roll out Moz Analytics over the next 90 days, PRO subscribers will gain priority access to the new tools. For a more detailed explanation, check out this section of Rand's blog post.
Wonderful news. Kudos to the team for all their hard work. Excited to see MOZ Analytics.
Just started learning about SEO a couple months ago and this site was extremely helpful! I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning going through all the changes already made and am really excited for the changes to come (especially Moz Analytics!)
Congrats! Looking forward to seeing the outcome of the rebrand!
So MOZilla bought seoMOZ?
j/k - Congrats, RF and Mozzers!
Hi Rand,
Wish tons of success (I know it is not required:) ) with your new endeavor. I feel SEOmoz is not a name only; it reflects the faith, vision, knowledge or a reference point for any SEO related question in the mind of millions of users. Do you think by changing the name, we, the users feel any difference (even search engines) about the site? Yes, the new features you are going to lunch will be associated with MOZ but whenever in any community, if any discussion will be on these features, we still feel it from our SEOMoz as both SEOmoz and Moz are same for us; our guiding friend. The existence of this site is beyond the grip of its name or by any other name. In my opinion SEOmoz is an adjective not a noun.
Nice!!!
This new look looks good, can't wait to see how the tools will work and how the plan unfolds. I'm sure we're all going to love it, just like we did the old moz (if not more ;-)).
Smart bussiness growth and evolution. This is exactly how it's supposed to be done. Thanks and congrats!
Rand, I admire the way you follow through with your values. You really run an excellent company and I want to thank you for inspiting to do the same with mine.
Great news, looking forward to seeing more of the new analytics tools and how the site develops!
Love the new design and the cohesive feel you have brought to the software and website. But I've got to say I'm a little disappointed the new website isn't a responsive design.
Congrats Moz.com - buh-bye Seomoz.com. Love the new layout/interface, great work!
Tim D. | WebServicesCt.com
This is awesome design of MOZ with instant engagement of visitor's eye. Hats off you MOZrrrrrrrrrsssssssss
Dang, literally 48hrs after having reluctantly giving up my pro account (not currently pull in the coin) you realise MOZ... I wanna see :-(
Good Luck Moz!
It's very strange to see changes on a website you go to every morning, need to make my mark
Rand. An amazing piece of work, by you & all the team.
It's absolutely the right thing for you to do as a business, and for the industry.
I still disagree with you on interruption marketing (next time we have a beer I'll explain why TV & print ads don't necessarily interrupt), but till then, mazel tov.
I can't argue with the narrow interpretation "SEO" has among the masses and the negative associations it can have but I am still sad to see the old name go. That being said, congratulations on the rebrand, love the new look!
I largely agree with the idea to drop "SEO" from the name. Most small businesses don't know what SEO is, or they have a bad impression of SEO. Today I got an email newsletter from someone with the subject line: "Don't Pay for SEO Services -- It's A Trap!"
Have you guys come up with a backronym for MOZ? Maybe "Marketing Online Zen"? :-)
Great initiative. This a true sign that you will continue to grow as well reputed firm.
Congratulations!
Haha.. so this is what moz.com is all about. I have to say this is a brave move. Congrats!
And by the way, is Rand's prediction #3 going to be right? :)
PS: why can't I use "tab" and then submit (using space-bar) in this comment?
Excited about Moz Analytics. Looks very cool!
First of all congrats to Rand and team for Moz. It's amazing, just amazing. I am accessing it on my tab and I haven't yet visited any site smoother than this on this device. And I am really looking forward for Moz analytics.
Congrats again!!
Congratulations, Rand. The new design looks great, and so does the new analytics service. Best of luck to you.
Excellent news and the change is symbolic of what's happening now industry wide. Good luck Moz.
Very exciting, I am alreadt enjoying the new website.
Good looking update and great domain change.
This is really good thinking and well applied
Love the way this is heading. Being a mozzer over the years has helped me steer my vision from only being an SEO enthusiast to something bigger.
Cannot wait to try the new tools. Knowing the track record you guys have maintained, i am sure hoping to see a bag of surprises here.
Wowww.. Looks great!! what a surprise..
Congrats!! MOZzer.
Really I am surprised !!! Looking so good like fresh SEO . Um... this step is going to show me an elevated stead.
Good to see new features of MOZ . The new design looks ossom. I have seen there is lot of change in MOZ and it looks clean and clear. Congratulations !
Dear Seomoz,
I like the new Look and Idea Behind Seomoz to Moz, I agree there is a lot of change in the field but changing the way that much is pretty nice.
Hope to C some better Information.
Congrats on this wonderful achievement.
Regards,
Ahmed Adnan Prince Aadi
This is really exciting news! I love the new look and the navigation is so much better. Also, I definitely get the reasons behind the change to the brand. I think it's a smart move, and one that will pay off in the long run. I am looking forward to seeing all the new thinks Moz rolls out in the future! :)
Congratulations! Well done Moz team
Congratulations on your re-brand. While I appreciate others who've shared concerns about maybe losing the old SEOmoz I personally not worried, not at all. The reason I'm very confident of the future of MOZ is your people.
Every SEOmoz person I've ever met in person or interacted with online has been smart, passionate and dedicated to exceptional customer service.
Yes you have a very well written core value statement, TAGGEE but your team Walks the Talk and that's why I think there's lots of great things still going to happen for MOZ.
In particular, since I work exclusively with small business owners I'm really excited to see your roll out of new capabilities for GetListed
Moz Analytics looks promising! I n00b perspective thought "What is Moz anyways?" and my colleague @RJLaCount sent me this post: https://moz.com/blog/what-does-the-moz-in-seomoz-mean from Nov. 2006
...and check-out the 2nd comment from fortune teller TagMan (aka @RichardBall):
"Rand, there's nothing cheesy about [the meaning/idea of moz]. Profit is not everything. Keep the "moz" culture as you move forward. Eventually, you might need to drop the "SEO" though. ;-)"
Nice work by Rand and the team, I remember some one at SMX Sydney asked if you were going to change the site name to Moz at the start of the year and you said can I plead the first amendment lol
I think overall this is a smart move from a branding point of view.
I know how big a site move and whole brand change can be, we have done a few over the years and it is not easy, the bigger the brand the harder it is, the thing in your favour is that you call SEO moz "MoZ" any way.
Only a few issues I notice from my point of view:
1. Top Users sections seems to have been demoted to no where, from the old place of the top nav.
2. Same with the YouMoz blog it seems to have been demoted as well.
Also will test out my pro campaigns too see if I notice any thing else.
Awesome, I hear a lot of people complaining about Moz and Mozilla blah blah. I don't think anyone is going to be confused, and I really like the transition. Congrats!
Great to see this change - we dropped the term SEO early in the year and adopted 'Online Marketing'. We've found that potential clients are FAR more comfortable with a more understood term, than with what still feels like a 'dark art' term.
Love to see that you're sticking to your guns and following your own advice of being more than just "SEO," https://moz.com/blog/why-we-cant-just-be-seos-anymore-whiteboard-friday. Great rebranding! See y'all at MozCon.
Thanks, Max! That Whiteboard Friday laid out some of the core reasoning behind the changes we're making. Glad you took a look. =)
Happy to hear you'll be at MozCon - we'll see you there!
I was curious to see if you figured out a way to transfer the social numbers along to your new urls (for example: the Google Algo Change page), but it seems it can't be done.
This is a problem with the social media sites and how they calculate the social shares. They should honor 301 redirects as part of their social share counts. Right now they are literal and "dumb". Not limited to domain changes. This is for any URL change.
Congrats!
Wow, this is wild. I never expect this but I do like the look and feel of the new MOZ software. I'm looking forward to testing the beta!
We're glad you like it, SEOsean! We're excited to hear your feedback about the new tools!
nice looks and feels, congrats.
and there are 6 serious haters here.
tell me one thing majorly that is WRONG with this site update, 301s? google index? oh well, its not like they dont happen on a sitewide upgrade, there will be things that will be wrong and broken for a while, especially today!
This is definitely going to get some used to! But I actually like it. Really like the new domain too.
If there's anything we can do to make the transition smoother, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Awesome Design, Great Job Guys!
Congrats on this transition from Seo-moz to Moz
Am looking to soon sign up for been a member, would love to see the changes and new features introduction in Moz Analytics in a tabular format for easy understanding... All the Best Mr Rand - have read the development to growth story of Moz - its inspiring
WOW! WOW! WOW!
I love the new branding. For several months I felt that SEOmoz was losing potential business because SEO isn't the only thing SEOmoz is all about.
I can't wait to sink my teeth into the new moz analytics. I wish Moz creates new features to their analytics like the ones I am starting to use on Conductor.
BRAVO SEOMOZ, errr, I mean MOZ!
Just so long as I get to keep Roger!
We would never leave Roger behind :)
Any chance of a moz app to read the blogs on the go?
Did you see the unveiling of the Moz Reader?
https://moz.com/blog/introducing-moz-reader
;)
I liked "SEO" Moz!
Just love it! The addition of social, SEO, and analytics into one software is just brilliant. When are you guys going to open again to the public?
Thanks! We're really excited about the new features :)
We're rolling out Moz Analytics to current PRO and new users as quickly as we can, but for a more detailed description, check out Rand's explanation in the post.
Wow.... the new design look really awesome!!!
Congrats to Rand and Moz team for this big success!!!
SEO is bigger than just SEO after Rand's this WBF many people suggested to change the name of SEOmoz to InboundMarketingMoz.com, OnlineMarketingMoz.com ibmoz.com in the comments of this post but Gianluca Fiorelli has suggested just moz.com. shorter and much more cooler that inboundmarketingmoz.com ;)
Moz.com is really cool and is going to rock \m/.
Just checked the historical mozpoints graph and Its really awesome. Would Love to see a post or WBF on overall change of SEOmoz to Moz
Right now PageRank and Global Alexa of Moz.com is showing "2". and "55,085" respectively. Lets see the what changes is going to happen the coming days. :)
Congrats Rand and MOZ Team. Exciting time ahead for sure. SEOMoz has played a pioneer role in teaching SEO and Marketing to thousands of people without expecting much in return and I am sure this philosophy will remain with MOZ too.
The new look is good Wish a success to new Name
Congratulations. It's a great move!
I am not seeing the list of quality directories that was under previous dashboard.
Please advise where can I find it.
I am excited about the new product and it just might be enough to get me to switch from Raven. I have been using it for awhile, but I like the direction Moz is headed and think it indicates the progression of the industry.
We're excited about the new product, too! If you'd like to sign up for a free trial of Moz Analytics, head over to our invite page and reserve your place in line.
Great write up. Congratulations and best wishes. From what I've been able to tell, you guys really seem like a model company. Rand - maybe you can take advantage of the rebrand to finally change your avatar!
btw, time stamp is showing I posted this "3 hours ago", which is def not the case.
Thanks for pointing that out, Chase! One of our team members is looking into the timing issue.
Congratulations Rand & team. I've come to rely heavily on your software and I can only imagine what you have in store for us in the coming weeks, months, years.
Weird you would stay with FB for RSS. Isnt it going bye-bye eventually?
We're currently looking into alternatives, but haven't found the best solution yet!
Fantastic. I like the new look and feel. can't wait to try out the new moz analytics! This really is a smart move. Well done!
Great stuff guys! Keep rockin' it.
it looks like a Robotic design.
Tanks for being transparent for upcoming products and features. Wishing you good luck for the new journey!
Hope you guys will rock! :)
I knew this was going to happen after the Whiteboard Friday about calling us "SEO's" - I was thinking..."but their name is SEOmoz..."
congrats guys...good move. very few people could have pulled this off!
Thanks, Patrick! You definitely caught onto some of the early signs. =)
Exciting time to be an SEO. Will be looking forward to the upcoming changes.
Congo Moz Team! :- )
Its really great to see new Moz. Appreciated for wondrous and brief intro. All the best guys! Looking forward for new and interesting tools. Even eagerly waiting for Responsive version!
Thanks. :)
Incredibly awesome! I have not been here since the beginning, but for a while now and this is by far the best change I have seen! Hats off to everyone! The look is fantastic and I can't wait to try out the new features.
I like what you said about SEO not just being about SEO and I try to communicate this to my clients also.
Great job Mozers on this huge undertaking, I really appreciate the continued work you folks put into this company!!!!
I also like the Moz Team page! But I don't see Roger :(
I don't think that Roger is gone, perhaps he is on the bathroom:)
Hello Digital Marketing :)
Way too cool! Can't wait to get access to the MOZ Analytics. This SEOmoz --> MOZ rebranding effort must be a monumental project for both online and offline marketing impacts broad and wide and with impacts in places most would never think to look. The MOZ rebranding project would make a great case study from an SEO perspective given the massive amount of changes and potential of setting off red G algorithm flags, how to flow link juice from one domain to another, dealing with high value links, prioritizing content, mapping content, linking, 301s, and probably a stockpile more considerations. Congratulations and enjoy some well-deserved champagne.
Thanks, Rick! The migration was definitely a big SEO feat. In fact, Ruth Burr, our Inbound Marketing Lead and SEO extraordinair, is giving a Mozinar on the plan leading up to and results of our transition. You should check it out!
Thanks Ashley for the response and heads-up. I just registered for the Mozinar to make sure I get in as this is going to be one well attended event for sure. Knowing MOZ (gonna take some time to stop saying SEOmoz :) I should have known that this type of key learning share was already scheduled. I am psyched to hear more from Ruth about this mega project on the 27th!
Great surprise and very good new look and approach ! Congratz !
Congratulation Mozzers!!!
The revamp is great!
It was great that SEOmoz changes to MOZ and it was a great thing you did because now the market is dramatically changed and there are so many new things come to complete the digital marketing so restricted to just on SEO is not a broader concept and now it is more than just an SEO. The evolution of the social media, Content marketing, Video marketing and the SEO are the basic elements of the digital marketing and MOZ is more perfect than the SEOmoz.
Just three words "awesome awesome awesome"
I really liked the transformation. Really a smart move..Lets the "Moz" grow higher than SEOmoz...
Transforming "SEO"
Excellent!
Great job guys! I love the new layout and interface, extra crispy for sure. I've been telling people to Stop Selling SEO (purely) for the last few years, and it looks like even the most prominent SEOs are dropping the focus on just SEO as well.
Thanks for taking the time to check out the new site, axzm! Rather than dropping our focus on SEO, we're expanding our tools to include other facets of inbound marketing like social, content, and community. SEO has always been near and dear to our hearts, and will continue to be a big part of what we offer in our resources and tool set!
I love the update, Awesome work team, changing all that in one movement is a brilliant work and look forward to playing more with the new Moz.
Excited to see the Moz Analytics Beta!
Not a fan of your non-original favicon. Mashable might be sending you a nice little message.
Thanks for pointing that out. We're having a bit of trouble with our new favicon displaying, but our team is on it!
Ditto. Hope Moz is not going too corporate with this new branding, as it might not be as attractive for the moz community.
I vote for having a head shot of Roger as Favicon :)
Rogericon FTW! That would be nice to see.
Thanks for he feedback.
I ensure you Roger not going away in our branding. I will be writing a blog post soon about our branding and how we are going to grow while still staying true to our Mozy roots.
Excited to see this change. Most of what is called SEO is dead, but the disciplines we've learned can help us ROCK content creation, KPI's and the best business practices.
Love what you are doing to the place
Welcome to Moz Warren. SEO can't die. Just by name, it's search engine optimization - and whether we're using article spun spam or forum profiles, killer content or social linking, it's still optimizing our sites to be found on search engines (and by real users.) It's still SEO, it's just changing. We call that fun sport they play in the NBA basketball but Naismith wouldn't recognize it.
SEO is just a tool. The total range of tools are considered inbound marketing, but its function and purpose remains the same.
I've just added my comment and it shows one like immediately. how come?.....
This is either the smartest decision you've ever made, or the dumbest!
From everything I understand about branding and human perception, a successful rebrand is nearly impossible. By your own admission in this post, you can't change a perception that already exists, so how do you hope a second look or changing your name will accomplish that with others?
A better idea would have been to launch Moz as a new brand and kept SEOmoz as is. The SEOmoz brand to me stands for something good to your subscribers and contributors. The Moz brand means nothing yet.
This rebrand has me scared that the SEOmoz I couldn't live without is becoming a corporate behemoth that lacks the authenticity we grew to love. Feel free to prove me wrong.
(On an inbound note, this is actually quite brilliant!)
I guess only time will tell.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, David! We appreciate you taking the time to check out our new brand and product.
Rebrands can be tricky, but moving to Moz has been a natural progression for our company. As the SEO world broadened and our toolset grew, it was becoming less transparent and authentic to portray ourselves only as an SEO software company. We're confident and excited about our transition to Moz, as it's only the beginning of what lies ahead. For a more in-depth explanation about why we made the switch to Moz, check out this section of Rand's blog post.
TAGFEE will always drive our products and company values, and the new site gives us even more opportunity to help marketers be better at their jobs and in their communities. Authenticity is a cornerstone of what we stand for at Moz, and we'll do everything we can to let it shine through our decisions.
We're excited for you to check out the new Moz, and feel free to ping us with feedback at any time!
I think rebranding SEOmoz is a smart move from a business standpoint. Changing the brand image will increase the ceiling to Moz and will help it grow beyond SEOmoz.
Yes, Really Great Modification as per the market demand.
I think that evolution is the only way forward. SEO is much to narrow a field for the people at Moz - they represent much more of inbound marketing.
I did not expect a different tactic for such a innovative and listening company.
So you're basically telling me that you have unilaterally revoked my paid access to the tools overnight and that I should hold on to my chair for 3 months now?
I had to click around a bit to find my campaigns (whew!) , but it's there.
Chena - all your campaigns and data are definitely safe. You should see them here: https://moz.com/pro/home
I had a 3 month trial account and I agree with Chena, looks like our access has been revoked and the trial cancelled off prematurely :(
Oh no! It shouldn't have been. Please reach out to us through the contact form at https://moz.com/help/pro and we'll get you squared away!
