In two excellent posts in reply to an old theory about a conspiracy surrounding Google's toolbar, EGOL points out the value of SEO money being spent on internally developed content and then goes on to say:
Someday, google will rank a site mainly, if not entirely, by its content. You can bull**** people with links but content is the only measure of true value.

Egol was spot on!
I was lucky enough to run into Egol early on in my work on the web, and his stance on content set my standards very high. Thanks, Egol. You are a wizard!
Disagree, just like "one man's meat is another's poison", the best content should be decided by the most people.
He nailed that one!
It is nice one!
very good...very good!
This is true, and in the past months is getting even stronger. Content and links from relevant content are making the diference.
But how can a robot determine the true value of content? That is subjective. Only the users of a page can say if that page served them well. Perhaps a rating system would be better? A democratic vote for the quality of the site's content? Even that could be tampered with though - as evidenced by polling issues during elections.

Could never agree more!!
What he prophecised 4 years ago is coming true now. The focus is now on quality content, and Google is developing cutting edge technologies like LSI to determine the quality of content.
Cheers!
It was true, and now 6 years later, Content is King
