Our first poll! We're seeking to get a better understanding of you - our audience. Mostly so we can bombard with horrible pop-up ads... Oh wait, you've all got blockers installed - scratch that. We're actually doing it so we know more about you and can better target our content. Hint - if you run a blog or site with some popularity in any space, getting the skinny on your demographics is a terrific way to better know how to serve them.
Without further ado:

Depending on how the poll goes, I'm hoping to institute more of these in the future. Comments are, of course, also welcome, particularly if you think there should be other options.
The results (after about 180 votes) are available here.
I agree with Shoemodo. Don't tell me the same damn thing I read on all of the other blogs today and I will keep you in my feed reader. SEOmoz puts effort into their blog entries instead of just throwing something up for the sake of having fresh content.
Multiple choices would have been nice. I work in-house for a large brand and moonlight on my own.
I read it because Rand is a personable and charismatic guy, and I liked him the moment he came to talk to my class at the UW about SEO. Even though I already knew a lot of the things he was saying, I knew he'd be a great resource, so I keep reading the blog. Stand on the shoulders of giants, donchaknow?
Hm. I feel like those multiple choice answers are more suited for the question "what kind of SEO am I?". A "Why" question as open as that deserves some good quality, self-written feedback.
Darnit rand I read SEOmoz because of those dang linkbaity catchy titles of yours. No kidding.
Oh, and I dig the varied topics - especially the Web 2.0 stuff, you get bucketloads of comments which are often just as valuable and insightsightful as the blog itself, you bring up debatable topics, and I like you guys.
I read it because I think Rebecca is cute :)and also because Rand provides info that helps me make my crabby boss happy with what I am doing for his site!
Rand,
I read SEOmoz because it’s a paradigm of blogging excellence! Superb writing, valuable content, razor sharp humor, and diverse perspectives. Great ROI for my time spent reading.
I’m pretty White Hat these days but I appreciate the Black Hat commentary, and the fact that you've had the guts to publish controversial and ground-breaking stuff.
I don’t want to read another squeaky-clean search blog that has been carefully edited to offend nobody.
You guys really on a roll, keep it real and keep up the great work!
Hmm...why isn't there a "because my once endearing and youthful crush on Rand has devolved into an unhealthy obsession which forces me to read his blog hourly, scouring for updates and gazing upon the tiny pixelated image of him in the corner, all the while matching my first name to his last name and wondering what we'll call our children" button? Because, dude, I'm just saying, like, a lot of people would check that.
Well then I'd say that it looks like the mysterious Men of SEO creator has not yet stumbled upon this blog post.
I think that question is too general...
I'm doing SEO stuff for a very small firm... but I chose the closest answer. Summer interns are affordable even for little places.
I read it for the business content that I have not found anywhere else. Two recent examples are Rand's posts on how he'd price a project and today's post on text link brokers.
Good stuff, keep it comimg SEOmoz.
The END of an ERA https://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060829... I'm leaving Search Engine Watch as of December 1, given that its owner Incisive Media and I have been unable to agree on terms to renew my contract. I'm also leaving the Search Engine Strategies conference series at the end of this year. Leaving Search Engine Watch on my personal blog Daggle explains my reasons for departing in more detail. I won't get all mushy and sad to say goodbye to readers yet, since I'm still planning to work just as hard as ever for Search Engine Watch through the end of November. I have no news on who will be taking over, but I or someone else from Search Engine Watch will keep you informed as Incisive makes those plans
Sorry, but such multiple choice polls are so primitive! Of course there is no option I can select as an independent SEO consultant.
Isn't that answer #2 - consultants fit that definition...
Thanks for asking! Multiple choices would have been great. I'm here because I do Search Marketing work, I'm a 2.0 junkie and if you ever want to open an East Coast office -- well --- I'd be open to converstation! ;)
You left off --- "what is SEOMoz and why are you asking me these questions / I'm a tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist trying to protect myself from big brother google"
I chose the first one, hope more people come to my site to hunt for metal domes and metal dome arrays.
I read seomoz because rand writes original stuff. There are too many me too blogs in the seo space that are not written well and don't offer any value.
Good answer. That is one of the things that motivates me to read this blog and why it is at the top of my list of SEO blogs.
you should have allowed multiple choices :D
That's what I was thinking!
