What Does Loss of Sanity Mean for a Site's Design?

At Cre8asite forums, one of the most entertaining and infuriating threads in a long time comes from user thesarge and his site review. Sarge had an old website, beautifully laid out and thoughtfully presented in terms of usability and design. He's also got a new design that he "prefers", despite being aware that it is unusable and poorly designed.

The great folks at Cre8asite show the most impeccable patience and manners in the thread. At any other forum on the web, poor Sarge would have been lambasted into oblivion long ago, but in the 3-page thread, some of the greatest in the SEO world try their best at dimplomacy to convince Sarge that his views are misguided and that he needs to use the better design. Sarge, however, is unrelenting and it appears that his views will remain no matter the quantity or quality of the folks arguing with him.

As I said; entertaining and infuriating and surely the type of  "client" that's familiar to anyone in the web development business.
