Hi, Nate here from the Veteran's Loan Center and I wanted to drop you line and just compliment your site. Nice layout, good info, good resources. I was looking around at a few different sites for realty information and I definitely thought your's was one of the best.
That being said, I also noticed you guys have some great content related to homes. I currently work for a company that maintains a website that offers home financing, www.veteranloancenter.com. We are a nationally recognized, reliable source for VA loans on the web and I was wondering if you'd be interested in us paying to advertise via text links on your site. I realize that there are sometimes set rates/fees involved in such placement of text links so feel free to name your price.
If not, thanks for the time and keep up the good work!
Thanks,
Nate

Not bad, eh?
The most important part of any email is the subject line which will determine if the message even gets read.
Do you remember the suject line?
Very useful! It's amazing what you can find on SeoMoz when you dig through the old blog posts.
Very Nice !
Can anyone give me some Backlinks with anchor text Gift Card
Can anyone help me to get listed on Dmoz directory.. I can also pay the amount if anybody can do me that favour for me.
Please write to me at [email protected]
Couldn't this person get in to trouble for offering to buy links?
How would Google react to this email?
Cheers for the great site btw!
Rob
Google would probably react poorly to this email. However, it was written in '05 so it's a pretty moot point by now. In all likelihood, this guy isn't trying to buy links any more. His site is ranking pretty good and he's got a fair number of backlinks. I'd be happy to let him write on my site if for free if he wanted.
id like to see examples of emails that worked
Always a pleasure when you stumble across a gem of a post from the past that provides exactly what you were looking for. I would be curious (if anyone was willing to share) about what sorts of subject headings generally yield the best results for folks!
Thanks, as always, for the advice.
Very useful. Thanks
I think the key here is that Rand considered responding...he didn't say he did respond, and he certainly didn't respond with a positive response. If he wanted to be really nice, he could have linked to the guy, but then that might raise questions as to whether or not he got paid to do it, right....lol
SeoMoz is really a big help i couldn't agree more.
Will try this out....surely its gonna work well.... Thanks!
Thank you very much for this example!
Except for "your's", yes - it is good
Sometimes a common typo in your email can help convince the receiver that it's a legit. There's an "a" missing on the first line of the email, but there are two spaces, like the user was typing too fast and just missed the "a".
This Blog was written by Rand in 2005. Has Rand or SEOmoz staff seen any better email link requests. Can we see a copy of YOUR email link request that you use today?
Thanks.
