Loren Baker's running a Search Engine Journal blog awards deal and we've been nominated (very kind of the anonymous nominator - thanks). The voting has begun, so go tell 'em what you think. I found quite a few on the list that I've never read, along with the old standbys. Notably absent were a few of my favorites like seo-scoop, ISOS, cre8pc, and Xan (who's left for the year, but has a great IR/Search blog).

The author's views are entirely his or her own (excluding the unlikely event of hypnosis) and may not always reflect the views of Moz.
That would seem to me to be a suspiciously low valuation ;)
Rand, the fact that you can count the number of women who are "well known" in SEO on less than two hands, makes my point :)
I do think that your experience and way of seeing the same picture is influenced by being raised by a strong woman who thrives in traditionally male roles, such as company owner and decision maker.
Eric (hubby, whom you've met) was also raised in a family business led by his own mom, a most incredible woman I'm in constant awe of.
He doesn't see the same things I see because I think he thinks women are, and should be, everywhere, in all roles and industries. Gender bias doesn't enter his consciousness, and I have a hunch it doesn't enter your's either. To you guys, women simply "belong here".
The funny thing is, despite my impressions of the imbalance of gender attendance at seminars or representative of the SEO industry, there is the hilarious contrast of a High Rankings SEM seminar, in which all the speakers are women, with the exception of Matt Bailey - who doesn't seem to mind he's the lone male in the bunch.
Just as a sidenote Rand, your blog is worth $5,645.40 according to How Much Is My Blog Worth.
aw, and they mentioned Quadszila but never mentioned me - not fair.... whine whine... just kidding - but if anybody decides I'm worth getting included there.... I just don't feel comfortable submitting my own blog.
It's like I've hinted at a few times to the 3 people who read my blog - it's a Man's World in SEO and they all must have wives, nannies, girlfriends and, hum, don't run a forums either.
There was no category for humor either. There are some funny SEO blogs out there. I'd love to see some awards go towards creativity, not redundancy - originality, not stealing and reprinting content from other blogs and calling it "news".
Like you Rand, there were several on the list I never read. I like a little history with my cup of blog. Something like Andy Beal staring all over again with a new blog and making it just as successful as his old one, in a flash. That, to me, is worth rewarding.
Kim - I think I disagree a bit. When I went to the SES conference in NYC with my grandfather, we were both surprised at such a traditionally techy field (SEO) having so many women - Jill, Scottie, yourself, Christine, Loraine, etc. Xan, herself, is a woman in IR, and my company is half women - Matt & I and Kat & Gillian.
I think SEO may be a bit less gender-biased than you suggest. Granted - we still have a long ways to go.
Yes, Donna and Kim's blog should be on there for sure! You got a 5 from me Rand.
