Following suit of Matt Mcgee's Small Business SEM (as well as a million other blogs), we're switching our blog subscription format to FeedBurner. This will make the blog more accessible to the wide variety of readers out there and not limit it to just RSS. It'll also allow us to have click-through analytics on users who come through the feed.
The new feed can be found at:
https://feeds.feedburner.com/seomoz
I've set up redirection so any requests to the old feed should forward to feedburner, but if you don't see an update for a few days your RSS reader may be caching the old copy. If this happens make sure and re-subscribe to the new URL. I've updated the subscription buttons on the left navigation to include the new feed. If anyone notices anything weird or broken, leave a comment on this entry or shoot me an email.
Switching to FeedBurner
Moz News
The author's views are entirely his or her own (excluding the unlikely event of hypnosis) and may not always reflect the views of Moz.
Both the old and new feed no longer works for me. I'm using GreatNews feed reader.
I installed greatnews here at home and was able to add the feed without any problems. What exactly is going wrong on your end? Is it just not showing the posts or .. ?
Not showing the posts, and when I attempt to have it manually show all posts, it crashes GreatNews. (only for seomoz, btw)
You'll actually enjoy knowing exactly how many people subscribe to this blog (if you didn't know). And, if you'll chose so, you'll probably show your visitors the number of subscribers you currently have by placing that little FeedBurner Subscriber Counter.
I find it very interesting to see how many people subscribe to a certain Blog. I've actually stopped my self from unsubscribing a couple of blogs just because I saw over 400 people subscribe to it.
That's what I call "influence" ;-)
Old feed is dead. Sage kept getting errors all day and so visited the old fashion way (typing in the URL). Then I remembered the feed moved so I'll update it. Just thought I'd let you know.
I 404'd the old feed. Originally I had a 302 redirect in place (per this post), but a lot of the feed subscription services such as bloglines were showing a bunch of duplicates. I removed the redirect in hopes that the dupes would get weeded out.
Still getting wierd results in bloglines. If you click on the bloglines subscribe button on the left and preview the feed, you should see what I am talking about. All the posts show up multiple times in different formats including all the text running together and showing images and html.
Whoops, my bad. Fixed now.
The title of your blog inside my bloglines is now called 'PHP News' - Not sure if you want that or not.
Mine says the same thing "from PHP news" in my Google Reader.
Do this mean you'll finally be offering full feeds in RSS?
I notice what appears to be a small bug. I'm reading the posts through Bloglines and there's no breaks in the paragraphs, all the text is forming one big paragraph and it's happening on all posts.
I'll try and fix that. Our current feed just strips out any HTML tags.
Ok, I switched to using the FeedCreator class instead of the home-brew php solution I had in place and it's now displaying all the HTML inside the feed properly.
