The SMA-NA (Search Marketing Association of North America) is preparing to launch. I am very excited about this organization and have high hopes for the offerings. There is some ongoing discussion about the formation and setup of the group at SEW, as well as a very limited website. Expectations are that launch is only a few weeks away, but there will be obviously be quite a bit of ramp-up time before the full strength and offerings are available.
Despite this, I urge search engine optimizers in Canada, the United States & Mexico to join the association as early as possible. The greater membership is, the more power the organization will have and the more power we all we have. Under the current power structure, SEOs have little to no say in the industry and that certainly needs to change. As I have mentioned in the past, the ideas of the search marketing community are more powerful and widespread than anything that could be developed by a single corporation. Let the power of community make us all stronger.
The SMA-NA has been dissolved effective Sept 15, 2007.
And then SEOMoz, and some other SEO platforms took lead to bring together the top SEO's form around the world and as I am reporting fromt he year 2012, they are going quite well. :)
