An excellent, in-depth article from the Scientific American was published earlier this week. The article goes deep inside the search industry and discusses many of the cutting edge technologies and ideas that are propelling the growth and innovation of the market.
The article - Seeking Better Web Searches - by Javed Mostafa, discusses issues such as:
- Searchinig the 'hidden' or deep web that is currently inaccessible to search engine bots
- Personalization of results & searching methods for individual users' preferences
- Clustering - The advancement in semantic understanding that enables search engines to 'understand' what a user is looking for and refine the search results
- Localization of results based on geographic searches
All this and much more awaits. Don't miss it.
Would love to read it but the link leads to "down for maintenance" message. The word in the first bullet item is wrongly spelled. "Searchinig" should be "Searching".
Again a deadlink, one one note I am thinking of compiling the links and send them to Rand, but then I think, if he doesn't care why should I... But then I think no I am part of moz family I should care... at the end I am just left confused... :|
