I've got almost 50 blogs I like to read every day and another 100 or so that I like to see at least once a week. But, I'm sorely behind the times. I actually go and visit every blog in my browser to get the content, rather than using a feedreader. Why?
Because I can't find a reader that I like... I've tried several (bloglines, google's web version, start.com) and never been satisfied. Any recommendations? There has to be a good program for this stuff out there.
I agree with seoplebian: feed reader is the best.
Also there is good service in Yandex.ru: Yandex Lenta - RSS aggregator (but useful only for Russian - language is the reason).
Hi !
Please try https://www.newsalloy.com, It is specially designed to support tons of blogs
Project is in beta state, but hopefully you'll like it. We made it Gmail like so Gmail users will feel themselves as at home :)
Zero refresh, AJAX driven
thanks!

Why don't you have a look at Feed Demon which has a great interface or even Pluck, which can be bolted into Firefox?
You could always roll your own solution that meets your needs. In PHP, it's a snap to write something to parse XML, or there's the XML_RSS PEAR module to do it for you.
Thanks gang - all great suggestions. I ended up going with www.pluck.com - the feed reader is free, it works great, let me import my favorites, keeps it in my browser window and is very intuitive.
It also lets me jump to the actual pages very quickly, without opening new windows or requiring another program. I'm satisfied for now... but I need to get to updating the SEOmoz blogroll :)
A feed reader sounds like it wouldn't be as enjoyable an experience because each page on the web has it's own layout and nice "feel" to it and I think I would miss that. I've never tried a feed approach though so... guess I can't really say for sure...
SharpReader is where it's at. It alerts you with popups when there's new news and it's really easy to use. It can even login to secured feeds. I love it.

Wow, I am shocked to see nobody mentioned the Sage extension for FireFox. Alt+S brings up the Sage sidebar which displays the title of the Blog's RSS feed. When there is a new post to any of the blogs, the title becomes bold. Clicking on the title loads the last 10 posts in a clean, boxed format. It is the best thing since sliced bread to me. I don't have to fire up another program or remember anything. They are just hanging out on the side of my browser all day and night. Pretty nice.
BTW, I also use it to subscribe to my own blog's comments RSS feed. That way I can keep on top of what people are commenting about.
Try - www.pluck.com . I've been using it for a year now and love it.
I use this www.rssreader.com I saw this thread in it when it pinged. There may be better out there but i find it does what i need. One problem is that it pops up when there is new messages which leads you to read them which is like 5 minites and i generally forget what i was doing before it popped up.

Recently I've been using Google's "personalized" home page. You can place all RSS feeds for the sites that you like and choose 1-10 most recent posts for each blog. I always find myself signed into google anways - so this is a nice little addition. One nice thing is that if you go to the google search page often, the RSS feeds update constantly - so you can stay updated as you go through the day...

I like to go to the blog's website. That way I can see what else is happening and have easy access to comments. My thunderbird is too clogged with email to reply to and I enjoy the break and change of scene.
I use netnewswire for feeds and it's sister tool marsedit for publishing. Would not leave home without them.
Both are only mac solutions. As I say when go out to speak, make your marketing director a mac combined with those two solutions.
I've tried them all. My fav as being the easiest for this newbie is the Tristana Reader at www.Tristana.org
I use sage in firefox myself. Pretty basic and not too many gee-whiz features but it gets the job done.
I have to second the vote to NetNewswire (And MarsEdit to for posting)
Not found anything that comes even close.
I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird, which is also my emailclient. Using one client for both email and rss feeds allows me to see what's new with just one mouseclick. This saves lots and lots of time.
