Hello everyone! Miranda here. I'm a Product Manager at Moz and I'm excited to announce that we've added custom, automated reporting to Moz Analytics. This is something that already existed in PRO (the predecessor to Moz Analytics), but the new version has some cool upgrades I'd like to point out, so here goes a quick walk-through.
Walk-through of the new custom reports
With the new version of custom reports, you can select (almost) any visualization or data list from within Moz Analytics to be included in a custom PDF and emailed regularly.
To access the new reports, just go into any campaign and click "Custom Reports" in the top right and then click "Create / Schedule Report" to get started.
Next, you'll begin filling in the details of your report. You can give it a name and a description to appear at the top of the PDF:
In the "Add Modules" step you use a left navigation similar to the normal Moz Analytics experience so you can quickly navigate to your favorite data / visualizations and click the + sign to select them. In the next step you'll be able to organize them and add notes.
In the "Design Report" step, you can re-order your modules, add notes, and if you have access to branded reports, add your brand logo to be printed on the PDF.
In the next step you can preview your report. Click "Generate PDF Report" to view and save as an actual PDF.
Finally, you can schedule the report to be emailed regularly to you and any others that you specify. You can now also customize the text of the email that gets sent out!
When you've finished setting up your report, you can see all active reports on the main Custom Reports page. From there you can see the next scheduled send date and edit your reports.
Other new stuff in Moz Analytics
While we're at it, we'd like to mention a few other improvements in Moz Analytics:
Crawl diagnostics updates
We made some improvements to the design to make it easier to find the issues exposed by our custom crawler. You can now see a breakdown of your top High, Medium, and Low priority issues at the bottom of the Crawl Diagnostics overview page.
You will also see the issue counts included in the issue drop-down.
We've also made sure that all of the crawl data is included in the .csv export. We are still working on making views of duplicate pages and titles visible outside of the .csv.
Keyword opportunities improvement
With this smaller update, we added a button to the keyword opportunities report in the rankings section, allowing you to quickly add an attractive keyword to your list for rank tracking.
Fresh Web Explorer alerts
In case you missed it, we also recently released a big update to Fresh Web Explorer that lets you create and save custom alerts. Use it to get prompt alerts when someone publishes content mentioning your brand, your competitors, or even discover interesting link and outreach opportunities. Cyrus even wrote a whole blog post about it.
What's next for Moz Analytics?
Here are some of the projects that are currently in-progress and up next for Moz Analytics. This is just the top of our list, but we'd love to know what you think! Please let us know in the comments.
- Monthly timeframes: We are still working on adding monthly timeframe options into custom reports and the rest of the Moz Analytics app. We hope to have that in by the end of the year. Also, we are aware that there are some issues currently with monthly custom reports in PRO causing them to be delayed. We hope to build these monthly reports into the new version of custom reports in a more scalable way and we apologize for the issue in PRO.
- Lots of bug / UX fixes: We're working on continually responding to feedback and bugs in the new application. We've gotten to many, but not all of them. Thank you for your patience!
- Contextual help: We're working on ways to bring help guides and videos directly into the app so that when you need help you can find it quick.
- Add individual keyword history to Custom Reports: There are a couple of modules that can't be added to custom reports yet—Analyze a Keyword (individual keyword history), Grade a Page, and Analyze Page Issues. We hope to make those available in the next few months as well.
- Per-page PDF downloads: We are currently working on allowing PDF downloads of any page in the app. We hope to have that done in the next month or so.
- Customized timeframe options: We're in the process of researching our ability to provide more customized timeframe options. It's a bit complicated due to the variety of data we include in our app, but we're looking at our options.
- Multi-user accounts: We're working on supporting multiple users per account.
- You tell us! If you have any other feedback or ideas for how this software could be better and save you more time, please let us know!
That's all! If you have any questions or comments, chances are other people will too, so why not ask it on the Moz Q&A forum! Looking forward to hearing your feedback. If you'd like to volunteer a half-hour to give more in-depth feedback about this section or reporting in general, please email [email protected].
Happy reporting!

I just want to say thanks for listening to our suggestions Moz! Great work!
This might be a dumb question, but is there the ability (or will there be in the future) to define global templates for Custom Reports? It seems that a Custom Report needs to be defined in each client (Campaign). That's very inefficient when we just want to be able to create a report for a client that we have previously defined in another Campaign. Even if there was a 'Copy to another Campaign' feature on the Actions dropdown when looking at the list of Custom Reports within a particular Campaign. But ideally, at the start of the Create New PDF Report wizard, there should be a question, 'Create New or Select Template'. That would save us a mountain of time.
Or are there technical reasons that such a feature isn't possible?
Hi Michael,
Not a dumb question at all. Copy to another campaign would be a great feature, I've added that to our list of features to add in the future.
Templates is definitely something we've wanted to do, its just a matter of prioritizing against other things we want to build.
Thanks for the feedback!

it good.
I'm loving the look of the new Custom reports. But there is something that bugs me about them - there is no option to better schedule their delivery.
For example: I want one weekly report to be sent out on Mondays, another on Tuesdays, etc... Do you think that is something you can solve?
Hi Sorina,
I'll look into what it would take to add this and see if we can get it in the queue. Thanks!
Miranda
Hi Sorina,
Quick question -- Right now we update your data once a week on your campaign update date and send custom reports when that data has been collected so you have the latest data. If your weekly campaign data updates on Mondays, would you still want the option to send it on Fridays even though the data will be more stale?
Thanks!
Miranda
Looks like I got signed up for Moz Analytics just in time.
I know some basic information about Google Analytics. but here i learned some more infor about analytics..
Thanks
Yay! Custom Reports were sooo needed! You're going to make a lot of Moz Analytics users happy. Thanks very much for this. Just tested it out and it works like a dream! :-)
Looking forward to per page PDF downloads too.
I love Google Analytics Custom Reports but I think now it's time to try Moz Analytics custom reports.
Great article Miranda, I am already in love with Moz analytics plus the new report feature and crawl diagnostics are a god sent!
Has anyone noticed that the graph numbers are off on the vertical access??? This is a pain when presenting to a client, as they ask why these don't align... For instance, the number of Facebook visits on a given day was 601, but shows above the vertical access point of 1,500. Are these going to be fixed???
Hi! This definately looks like a bug. I'll look into this asap and we'll get it fixed. Thanks!
I don´t receive emails weekly from Moz Analytics when my Custom Reports are created. Is it a bug? The also will not run weekly as promised in the dashboard. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi! Sorry about that. We do know that some users have been experiencing that issue and we're working on getting that fixed as soon as possible. Sorry about that! We'll let you know when there's an update!
Any update on when we can expect Monthly date ranges in Custom Reports?
Thanks,
Marty @ Venture Stream
Hi! Sorry for the wait. You can follow this thread for updates: https://moz.com/community/q/when-will-the-monthly-report-data-become-available#reply_212667
In summary: very soon! Definitely in February and probably next week.
Thanks!
Miranda Rensch - Product Manager
Thanks for the reply Miranda - looking forward to seeing them soon.
Marty
I searched for information on this, and this article seemed the most interesting, thank you very much for sharing the information for the community
The reports are good and we've been happy with Moz in general.
However, you can't even create a monthly report for a client using this software, which is a bit ridiculous. I'm not sure how we're supposed to use this as the reporting software for our agency when we can't even provide our clients with monthly progress reports?
Hello,
I'm sorry about monthly reports not being in place yet. We are working on them right now and hope to have them done by the end of the year, but we're working through some scalability challenges. Thanks for your patience; we apologize for the delay and inconvenience.

Any updates on monthly reporting?
Hi Alex! We're still working on adding monthly reporting. Sorry about the delay. The current ETA is end of January.
Thanks Moz for your continued work to make Analytics better.
But I must say, I am really having troubles with it. I actually don't like it. It could be me just being stubborn and used to PRO, but the fact that I access PRO and see everything I need right there in the first page, makes me go back to PRO every time.
Analytics looks too cluttered, plenty of graphs I really don't need while taking far more to load.
Something I'd suggest is the option for users to hide all those graphs and the possibility to save that, something like a way of creating a dashboard that shows me what I need, which actually is what PRO offers in the dashboard, numbers.
Thank you for the feedback, Federico. That makes a lot of sense, and is really helpful to us as we look to make Moz Analytics quicker and easier to use. Would you mind sharing which sections/data in Pro you prefer most? If you don't want to share in the comments, feel free to email me directly, adam -at- moz.com. Thanks!
Thanks for the update. Custom reporting is one of the features Raven offers that Moz definitely needed.
As far as posting feature requests... there are quite a few posts dating back to 2011, while others look like they are marked as complete but don't seem to be part of the current version of Moz. In particular, I'd love the ability to define custom dates for reports AND get historical data (What happened last week? The week before? The year before?)
Other items I think would help:
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the feedback - all are great requests. Here's a little status on each:
1. Truly custom date ranges is not something we will be able to implement soon, but monthly timeframes and the ability to select and view data for certain past days, weeks, and months is something that we are actively working toward. We should have a clearer ETA/status on this in a few weeks.
2. Miranda brought the need for a report with volume and difficulty for tracked keywords a few days back. I'm not sure where this is in our work queue, but it is there. Miranda may know more.
3. We raised the limits for keyword difficulty searches at a time from 10 to 20. We haven't gone higher at this point due to performance concerns.
Hi Kevin!
Re: volume and competition (difficulty) view in rankings, we have it on our list but still working on a final ETA for that. I'll update the feature request forum when we've got it (hit subscribe on that one to get updates!)
You're right, some of the things we marked complete when we built them into PRO, but haven't created a new request forum for Moz Analytics requests specifically yet. We hope to have all functionality from PRO into Moz Analytics as soon as possible.
Thanks for your feedback; let us know if you have any other ideas that would make our products more useful for you!
Miranda
i was seen that feature but one question please solve it experts, why on page A grade website also not getting rank in search engine?
Good question. An A grade in the on-page report only addresses keyword targeting for a particular page. This is only one of many signals that Google uses to determine whether a page is relevant and should rank. There are many more factors that Google uses, and many are more important than on-page factors. To learn more, our Ranking Factors report goes deep into what we know and suspect. If you are looking for a higher level overview, this guide offers a broader view of SEO.
I hope this helps!
It needs option to simply download PDF as it was possible in the old version. Simple feature but still missing.
This is in the works! It should be available in the coming weeks.
Happy to know this. Thank you
Hi,
I have a question, in my account I can only see data for current week not the past weeks data?
What if I need to check back on previous weeks or months data? Why it is not showing.
Thanks
If you could send an email to [email protected] we'll take a look and see what's up. Thanks!
Hey! We don't currently have the ability to see a previous week / month's data, but you can use Custom Reports to have a PDF of your data generated and emailed to you each week. I'd recommend setting that up now and then you can go back and see what happened on any given week in the Custom Reports section.
We are also looking at what it would take to add more custom timeframes, but we don't have an ETA on that just yet.
Thanks, let me know if you have any other feedback!
Miranda
The reports are good.
But you can't create a monthly report for a client, which is a bit ridiculous. How is this supposed to be a viable agency reporting option when you can't provide the one standard required by clients across the SEO industry, which is a monthly report?
When is this due as this should have been Analytics 101????
