Hey party people! We are really excited to announce that the Mozzers are headed to Philadelphia. That's right! On May 10th we're having a meetup at the infamous SEER Search Church. You'll get a chance to see both Rand Fishkin and Wil Reynolds speak (for free even) and network with other local marketers. If you've ever attended one of our meetups or our MozCation events in the past, you know that we're all about actionable content, great networking and loads of fun (you know the F in TAGFEE).
This, my friends, is the Search Church.
Who: You, local search marketers & Mozzers (Whee!)
What: FREE SEOmoz Meeup in Philly
When: May 10 from 4-8pm Eastern
Where: Search Church at SEER Interactive - 1028 N 3rd St Philadelphia, PA 19123
Why: Why wouldn't you?
This time however, we're changing things up a bit. We're not convinced that Rand and Wil are the only ones who know their stuff. :) In fact, rumor is that Philly has a ton of amazing marketers. So we want to hear from you, yes YOU.
Speak at the Meetup
Yes, you totally read that right. We're opening up the stage to local marketers! Each presentation will be no more than 8 minutes and must be full of action and win. This is your chance to show your stuff to your local community. Have an amazing link building tactic, or want to show off that tool you built? Then we want you to submit your pitch to speak.
Seriously. Do it right here (by April 11th):
Deadlines & Calendar
You have until April 11th to get your speaker submissions in. That gives you one week to get on the ball. You can see the full schedule below.
Other Details
A few things to note:
- You don't have to be an SEOmoz member to speak or attend
- You do obviously need to be present at the event to speak :)
- Please only register if you're able to attend. We do have a limited number of spots and we want ensure everyone who wants to attend, can.
- GET READY FOR A NIGHT FULL OF WIN
Watch this video to see the amazing "Search Church":
We have a solid SEO scene here... this should be interesting!
Oooh... I'm super hype for this. I hope people like Eppie Vojt, Chris Phillips, Brian Cosgrove, Ian Howells, Bill Rowland, Bill Sebald, Ethan Lyon, Devin Concannon, Ron Sansone, Fajr Muhammad, Jenny Du and/or Thanh Duong step up for this.
Seer is really gonna get my Amtrak rewards miles up!
-Mike
Well be sure to remind them to submit their pitch! They only have a week to get it together. :)
...well. Now I guess I have to come up with something I can cover in 8 minutes since I got called out :)
Thanks for the shoutout, Mike. I'll be prepping up my pitch this evening. Great to see SEOmoz showing some love to Philly!
Thanks Mike. I will definitely be there.
That would be a hell of a road trip for me, im a bit to far! :)
But good luck with the event!
Oh its super simple and am too exicted to be there, but there is a little problem with budget, I made an estimate and here are the details:
One side air-ticket to US(Philadelphia to be specific) = 900-1000 USD
Stay Cost for one night(Given that I have to rush back to airport after the event is ended or else I am doomed :P) : $60 + $40 (Searched for the cheapest hotel room in philadelphia and got that one of $60)
Travel cost to the location : Depends on the location of my cheapest hotel and the venue of the event.
Return ticket back to home = ~900-1000 USD
I didnt mention the cost of going from venue back to airport and from airport to hotel...(I guess I can afford this part of the journey)
So this one event if going to cost just over 2000USD... and its a few months salary for me...:'(
SEOMOZ, Y U No close to me? :(
Wahab, lets make our own SEOMOZ at Islamabad so we dont need to go anywhere :P
Well too difficult for me to attend, but I hope we get some online streaming or may be a recoreded video of the important talks from the meetup, that would be much helpful and allow us to virtually attend the event.
Any chance in the future you show some love for, I don't know... Florida? :)
We'll be running another MozCation later in the year, you can submit your city. :)
Oh... I wonder who does own the mozcation.com domain name... ;)
Guernsey, Channel Islands please. We never get anything exciting here, but do have the most days of sunshine in the UK each year!
I suppose a "Wilderness" Mozcation at the end of the earth is out of the question... sigh
Just as well for Mozcon! :)
Have a great time in Philly.
Sha
I was going to suggest Ayers Rock (a nice central location for Aussie SEOs) but KI is much closer to me so it gets my vote hehe
Oh that's great!
If we can fly Roger into Adelaide can you bring him across on the Ferry? :)
hehe
Sha
Absolutely - I'll hire a pope-mobile to ensure safe escort ;)
A MozCation in Florida would be great and I am in the same area as Jon here. I figure we would submit Tampa. But, I will say St. Pete is pretty nice and we have beautiful beaches. In fact, Trip Advisors' #1 beach in the country this year ;)
Super excited about being part of this; are Wil and I doing a face off? I think he'd be among the most challenging head:head competition in the marketing world.
This sounds like a great idea! I wonder though if he'd have a clear home-town advantage? Maybe we'll have to do another face off at MozCon to even it out.
Sigh - SEOmoz LOVE to all who can attend :-).
Free - wow! I heard Wil Reynolds speaking at SMX Munich (at least!!) - and he rocked the stage. Not to neglect Rands slides!
People, you have to attend!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words!! Gonna rock this philly thing HARDCORE!
I might need to drive down to Philly. Anyone in NYC want a lift? :-)
Welp, if ever there was a reason to give Philly another shot...
This is the best thing that has happened to Philly since Joey Lawrence used the city of Brotherly Love for his 1990s video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeLI0ZT2yo8 ! In all seriousness, I think it's awesome the Moz squad is spreading love and knowledge. Any area SEO should be thankful. Let me know when you guys are heading to Colorado; I heard there are some cool kids living in the Roaring Fork Valley...
Hey dude, cut us some slack here in Philly.
+1 for Ian Howells dropping some knowledge. Definitely looking forward to this!
Bad that I cant come!
Please please PLEASE someone videotape this thing, even if on a mobile phone... I want to SEE these presos; looks super exciting.
Some really broad topics for 8 minute, actionable presos. Already intrigued by Ian's and Eppie's.
Most definitely! I think anything will be difficult to do in 8 minutes. :) I look forward to it all rolling together. Hope to see you there!
Our mayor, Michael Nutter, is like Bloomberg: nothing he enjoys more than promoting the local tech shene. He just showed up at a silly little converence here called "Emerging Technologies for the Enterprise" <uncalled-for-sarcasm>
I think it's incombent on us Philly SEOers to get him to drop in. Can someone rank his name for a page that encourges him to attend? -
Hi, Thanks for this post.
Can i Participate online ?
Cool idea, Search Church - I like the sound of that...
Plz tweet the live stream URL?
I hope there is a live streaming for events like this!
That would be a strong SEO topic here, this should be attentive!!!!
Seems a nice one... Would like to attend
So is this even from 4-8pm est or is that pacific time so it would actually be from 7-11pm philly time. the left coast brain is way to creative for my right coast analtical thinking. j/k
Analytical or analitical? :P
isn't that being a little anacritical. haha
That would be Eastern :) I'll update the post!
finally something in philly i am excited- if you need any sponsers Empire can help because we are so excited to not have to pay for air fare to something. We have a great community but no real conferences. Let's get Rand some Genos and Pats or some Garcis if he is a hipster in seattle
