Today our building's web access is down for one reason or another. Thank my lucky stars I've got a laptop with one of these fancy Verizon Wireless broadband cards. It worked spectacularly no matter where I was in southern FL and it's just as handy here in Seattle for emergencies just like this one. We paid $10 + $60 per month for it, but IMO, it's one of the best expenditures we've made. Someday, all the world will have access like this... I can't wait.

When I was vacationing and had no internet access and the library wasn't open or I didn't feel like going there, I used my laptop at Staples stores. I even pulled up in their parking lot when they were closed and connected on my laptop! hehe
We used the Verizon broadband cards during Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and they were the best form of communication around. I ended up buying dozens more for my organization during the crisis. EVDO is great where they have it but it is super expensive for Verizon to put in.
That Ev-DO service is pretty money. I am waiting for Cingular to upgrade SF to their HSDPA deal. But, if they take much longer I am jumping ship to Verizon or Nextel/Sprint (who has 1xEv-DO also). FYI, you might want to pick one of these up when they come out: Kyocera KR1. They are only supposed to be like $200 if they ever make it to the marketplace.
You're right, it's just gonna become available everywhere. It's good news. What does that mean for people like us? It means a lot: More people using Internet=> more companies want to target the growing number of potential customers=> more job we will have either in the SEO or PPC field.
Stick to this market guys...
