For the first time in nearly 2 years, SEOmoz is hiring for a Search Engine Optimization specialist. We've got more consulting requests than ever, lots of work to do to improve our tools and our PRO membership and we need to grow our SEO team. Thus, we're seeking the best and brightest the SEO world has to offer - someone who can bring expertise, experience and insight to every aspect of our business. If you're seeking a new position and live in or can move to the Seattle area (we can help with re-location), please apply below:
Seeking an Exceptional SEO to Join Our Team
Don't forget to read the instructions carefully, and please share with relevant friends, family and industry contacts. We're hoping to seal the deal by Pubcon in November, so stay tuned!
We now return you to your regularly scheduled SEO programming.
p.s. Thanks Duncan! Your recent post on Interviewing for SEO Jobs could come in handy. :-)
Just how much help with relocation can you offer? I'd need a green card, Rand, but other than that would consider it. :)
Obviously Rand knows, but I wonder how many people know who lies behind this unassuming profile. You need a picture, Ammon...
The Black Knight rides again.
*clip clop, clip clop*
(Ah, the sound of coconut shells clapping together)
We are the knights of knee!
Would a green card really convince you to come over to this side of the pond, Ammon? I'd think you'd be used to the crappy weather, but you've got the EU nations in your backyard!
It isn't the Green Card that would tempt me, it would simply be the necessity for doing what does tempt me - teaming up with SEOmoz. Yeah, for that I might well relocate.
You should! Every time I have an amaretto and ginger ale, I think of you. :)
It's a shame there isn't a SEO website that has like a Marketplace or something that we could post the job to... ;)
1) Marketplace link is misspelled
2) How come no Job (SEOmoz Job) was posted at the Only SEO website having a Marketplace.
https://www.seomoz.org/marketplace/jobs/view/350.
Also edited your link for spelling, so it should point to the marketplace now :-)
:)
This sure Boosts some confidence in people on using the Marketplace Section.
The general consensus I’m seeing from the comments is that ya’ll would love to work here, but just not here. Why? Is it the rain? Because our offices are undercover.
Well you know Timmy, the rain, and the fact that you are in the middle of a peninusla that might go under water with the great quake or just the fact that this is the most competitive position out there and there is a big fear of rejection for SEOs who tend to have the biggest egos.
It's glaringly obvious, ever since these guys left the building, Seattle just doesn't appeal to SEOs. Because all SEOs are ballers, or something like that...
I'm not afraid of the rain (I grew up in Redmond), just those who show ninja weapons in their avatars. :)
Its hilarious that you guys have hired so many people in the past 2 years, but no one in an SEO consultant role... I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding someone amazing though. Good luck!
Rand - I just took a look at the about and team pages for the first time in while. At one point you defined SEOmoz as a boutique SEO consulting agency (roughly speaking, I don't recall the verbiage) and then lately I've viewed you guys more as a software application provider and publisher serving other SEO agencies... How would you define SEOmoz today? Mostly as a publisher and resource center, or mostly as an agency, or 50/50?
Actually the job ad page may have answered my own question:
PRO is SEOmoz's primary revenue stream and focus for the future.
So in my mind I should think of SEOmoz now as a publisher and provider of tools and applications to other agencies... who also happens to do some consulting as well... that about right?
Yeah - that's how we think about it, too. Our primary goal is to serve PRO members - build great tools and great content that makes their lives better and easier (and makes them better SEOs). We do consulting primarily to "stay in the trenches" and be sure that we've got the credibility and experience helping sites succeed to be valuable in what we do on the PRO side.
I'm not a SEO specialist (yet) but hey, I need a job :P
Wow. Kinda wish I lived in the US now... (a bit). I'm sure you'll have plenty of excellent candidates to choose from. Best of luck.
Let me know when you open your UK office ;) (oh wait, Distilled, when are you hiring?)
LOL on point 1 of "How To Apply"!
Can I telecommute from Croatia? :D
I'm available in Costa Rica... I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a great SEO, there's plenty around. Thanks for sharing.
r u planing to expand in Asia then i can be available.....
I think hiring support and other non-SEO staff first is a good idea. I've got WAY more work than I can practically deal with, but the thought of hiring another SEO scares me, since I'd have to stop being an SEO and start being a manager of SEO's, which would bore me to tears. I'd actually have to hire at least 2 - one to do the job, and one to replace me.
But if I had others who could do that stuff... hmmmm.... I could do the Bill Gates thing, become chairman or something, and just play wherever I wanted and let others do the boring but necessary stuff.
I'd send an application to SEOmoz asking "Can I haz job plz?" but I'd honestly be more trouble than I'm worth. Plus, I hate rain. ;)
But joking aside, I would like to recommend anyone talented enough to apply - I know the folks at SEOmoz and they'd be great to work with, and a huge point on the ol' CV. I'm kind of jealous.
Ian
An Search Engine Optimization specialist can do Seo Job everywhere in the world. It is not necessary to relocate I think. Give the web site URL the Seo Expert, that is all:))
That's true, although it's easier for the SEO team to work together if the person is in-house. We have a lot of meetings and group brainstorms.
I have no doubt you'll find a great candidate. Good luck to all those that apply. I'd like to see the resumes you get but even more the cover letters.
Love the part about the college degree or at least a good reason for not having one instead of insisting on it. I think companies eliminate some real potential by that criteria.
Looking forward to the new mozzers first post.
Give me the Middle East while you are at it (oh wait I forgot I am in Chicago (though Turkish origin). I would not mind moving in a second to Seattle. I might really call myself an SEO pirate then. Michigan Lake is just not cutting it to call myself an SEO pirate.
P.S. Happily employed Chicago agency SEO here, above was a joke (just in case the boss is reading :-) ). Psst Rand, you know my email. :-p
SEOmoz needs to spread to Sydney. I'll head up the team. :)
I'll be right there...
If we're talking expansion, I'd be happy to head up the satellite offices in Hawaii if there's a need....just sayin'.
I've got the Austin offices!! ;)
lol..
Dam and there was me hoping they would open an office in Perth, on the other side of Australia :)
If you need a staffing firm to help you out in your search.....
awww, nevermind, I can't spam you guys... Good luck in your search.
PS. you forgot the most important thing in your description though. Does successful candidate work in A. Cube, B. Office, or C. Other ?
The Linkscape office was, for a time, the kitchen, but we're doing a better job now of supplying adequate office space ;)
I work in what we like to call "the pit". The SEOs and Rand all have offices. And no one has a cube (unless we're talking about a Rubix Cube).
Technically, you could make my office a cubicle with the movable walls... but it'd be the coolest cubicle evaar.
Nobody beats my SEO Barn! We have room to hang a disco ball and have a live band.
We went with the barn mainly due to fact that we're full of Crap, or knee deep in it...
SEO barn... I like it!
My office WOULD beat it if only I could get them to tap beer up from the pub downstairs.
Okay, Pub Downstairs trumps barn.
Does the Pub have WiFi?
Perhaps I should take my laptop down there to "work" and "find out."
wait...you guys work over a pub?! That should definitely be listed as a perk on your job description page...
Our WiFi reaches into the pub. I know
This changes everything. I am jealous at a whole new level.
I seem to recall a certain alcohol influenced blog post on 1 box results (while you were down under) that would lend to the encouragement of mozers working from the bar more often.
but to keep this relevant to the blog post... If you guys get half the crazy resumes I saw when hiring for a similar position, you should compile them and post the best quotes and snippets... just don't tell legal. :)
wow love your office! I could bring my horse to work!
Wow, it has been a long time since SEOmoz last hired an SEO!
If I could put in my required 30 hours per week in the office one day a week, I'd be there.
Hey Levi, you still available?
I am indeed... unfortunately the 2400 mile commute to the office in Seattle may put a slight damper on being able to get home for dinner on time and my wife would not be happy if I was late for dinner...again.
Believe you me, as soon as I figure out how Nathan Petrelli got his power of super-sonic flight, I'm all over this!!!
"The Company" gave it to him as a child.
Didn't you see last Monday's episode?
Heck yeah I did... but my version of the formula isn't quite right yet. It still tastes like a mix of dog food and Tabasco sauce.
If visas were not so much effort I would apply... :) usa is great (one day they will let me back in I am sure) although Spain isn’t all that bad either.
Hmmm I kinda like Las Vegas but SEOmoz is the , well I will certainly have to think about this.
Exciting...
and intriguing - looking forward to seeing who you get.
