Somehow, in the past few weeks, I was looking at how I could monetize the new videoblog that we're launching this summer (for the curious ones, go sign up for the beta release by visiting Yodivi - Videos for People). I was getting somehow worried about how YouTube (now reported to be getting 50 000 uploads / day) and other major vlogs startups can generate enduring growth AND great cash flow... I mean, I want the project to work, I think it can bring a lot to the community, so I want to keep my client on top of this money pit vlog platform.
I might not have fund the klundike of the solutions, but I think I got a good one: why don't you manage the advertising yourself... and keep most/all of the money!
Ads Click, a Swiss company based in Geneva and employing 20 people (went from 3 to 20 in the last 8 months), offers a licensed model of a advertising system similar to Adwords/Adsense or Overture. BUT wait... You can brand it to your company... And this seems to be working well... I've never seen so many features together that you can manage yourself... GREAT STUFF. I'm definitely going to have a look at it before opting for Adsense for our platform. I want real advertising revenues, not little change <3
Give me your feedback... Do you think this advertizing platform can make the cut? What do you think are the pros and cons?
The first questions to pop into my head are:
* Can you find enough advertisers and get their trust without G (or any other well known, large) marketing network?
* What are the real running expenses? A large set of features you can manage yourself sounds nice, but it's a double-edged sword requiring more working hours & more expenses.
2K - You are to Finland what I am to Quebec: we think the same. Those are the 2 main issues with this great opportunity...
I think that if you're a startup and don't really know a lot of advertizers from past experiences, this might be a risky solution...
But hey, if you earn 10x the amount of money than with Adsense, down the road it might be worth the effort! I hope that our VC's have enough plugs to pull this one out :D
I cant see first link, sorry
And I love their page design. It's rare you get huge pictures that really mean something and that you actually read the text in the pictures... I did!

Correction About My Post; I am a junior SEO executive and my post was a bit off mark, I spoke to one of our senior PPC executive and he laughed at my comment and this is his view: While I think the adsense market is being cultured and matured by Google, I think contextual advertising will become much better. I must confess that I am weary of click-frauds/useless clicks through contextual ads, however, I belief this is a fresh voice in a more reliable direction. Our company do consider contextual advertising, but we watch the environment in where we do, but I believe Ad-Click is worth a try. I notice that one of the mojor benefits here is, "Prohibited fraudulent clicks and impressions".
So, I am sorry for the my muddy comment :) - Joshi
