BBC Uncovers Hated StereoTypes of Advertising

The BBC has an article from the beginning of this month (The Modern Rules of Advertising) about British stereotypes in advertising and how they are disdained by the public. The same could probably be said for US consumers, although we seem more gullible and less likely to question anything coming across the TV waves (with shows like American Idol & The O.C. suceeding, I can rest my case).

Here's some of the more amusing ones:

  • Men are obsessed with sex but will forego sex in order to watch football or drink beer.
    -
  • Both men and women find driving deeply pleasurable, never boring or stressful.
    -
  • Women never merely hop in and out of the shower, instead preferring to act out some sort of soapy Dance of the Seven Veils.
    -
  • Tortilla chips are the most exciting experience any group of young people can experience.
