Ask Jeeves noted on their blog today that they've got a new gift search service and it's awesome. It's so much fun to play around with all the different personality types and ages and other demographics to see what they've selected. Best of all, the stuff they've got listed is actually totally cool. I think I'm gonna be using this to do all my Christmas/Channukah shopping this year. It's just so darn practical (and it gives the best prices and stores, too).
I do believe they have partnered with pricegrabber, so it's nothing really new. AOL has the same thing that is powered by shopzilla.
Quite a few businesses/sites are doing this. An SE has an enormous advantage if it can move its enormous volume of traffic into this or other killer niches.
The fun part of this job is being the person(s) involved in picking all the gifts to highlight to the marketplace.
Things like this drove the revenue base of AOL when it was riding a wave to the top...back in the day.
