I've been referencing a lot of folks to our recommended list lately, but we're finding that many come back without a satisfactory target, particularly when they're seeking local folks. I thought I'd ask the readers if they have recommended lists of their own with SEOs, web developers, designers, marketers, hosts, etc. that could be used to help expand where we direct inquiries.
Just go ahead and post them below (note that SEOmoz blog posts do allow for anchor text, so you can use the <a href code rather than just pasting the URL if you want).
What about outside of the SEO sphere - a lot of the people I'm talking to need website development (obviously, they have to be SEO-savvy and usability-savvy builders) and they want someone local. It's a reference I'm struggling with...
My motto has always been: "Find the need and fill it." I've added web design to my overall Internet Marketing services because 95% of the clients I contact have first generation sites with no optimization at all. I include SEO on-page essentials to allow for proper indexing, sensible site architecture, and address usability issues. My many years in sales, marketing, publishing and business intelligence allows for me to offer clients a menu of services: online copywriting, persuasion momentum content, article syndication, conversion measurement and tracking, etc. Most companies can only bite off a little bit at a time.

Why do people always have to disagree with me.
It is nice to meet people face to face, but there are so few SEO's (probably only a few hundred) that are worth meeting face to face.
I would not hire any of the "SEO's" where I live, they are simply not very good at their job. If you have a business that are located near a top SEO-firm or a consultant then it would make sense to hire them/him/her.
Sorvoja, I disagree its nice to meet people face to face sometimes to discuss matters, it gives the client a greater deal of confidence in the services you provide.
If your customer is handing over a lot of money to someone they would prefer knowing who they are dealing with rather than a face less web site, telephone number!
Is it possible to mecommend myself for uk contacts :) Also investigating moving into the French SEO market, if anyone needs a french speaking seo consultant
>BJ Cook of www.seorefugee.com who is probably the only SEO in Oaklahoma<
Not quite. I personally know of a dozen or so.
By the way, it's OKLAHOMA not Oaklahoma.
There are getting to be enough SEO's, (whatever that is), that there really should be some resource list somewhere that would serve the industry better than the public. What about recommended tax accountants, attorneys that know something about the net, investment counselors, bankers who understand online transactions, financial advisors that can help set up foreign bank accounts, stock advisors who are net savvy from more than just a techno-babble sales pitch perspective. Real estate brokers who can help get those loans for self-employed SEO's, (whatever that is). How about someone who can advise on moving from a single owner company to a partnership, LLC and sub s corp? What if an SEO wanted to try to find an angel? What about setting up companies in other countries. What about just getting a mail box in other countries?
I've looked several times for some of these types of things with little luck. I wish there were something like this and maybe I'm not the only one.
Massa - That sounds like a job for Ian McAnerin and the SMA-NA. I konw it's something they'd like to put together, but it's no easy task...
Great post, I'll try Scriptlance instead of elance...If any body can give me a tip for a good Php MOD Rewrite expert who is SEP savy, it would be much appreciated.
Hi,
I'd recommend an SEO expert from scriptlance.com There you find dozens of experts, trust especially the ones that have lots of positve reviews, and experience...
These even show you results they achieved so far. For example: remove adware and spyware is a keyword the no adware site is now ranked #1 in yahaoo thanks to these people.

Unless you need someone to work in house for a extended time then there is no need for a local SEO. I guess there could be some advantage to have a local guy if you target your local area only, but it is always better to hire someone that really know their stuff.
Just an advice, there are better resources than SEMPO, anyone who call himself SEO can be a member, thats' all I have to say.
Donna from SEO-Scoop.com is always a fav for recommendations.
I also know that Patrick Gavin does a very nice job of taking care of clients looking for link building campaigns.
I have been working with several small companies across the world that need a plan of attack for building their online presence. One thing that I like to do is give any clients that I work with a Menu of ideas that they can pull from. These ideas range from article writing to PPC local management services. I will work with any small company or medium sized companies that need a personal visit in Oregon/Washington/California. More at: www.Fishseo.com
I'd recomend...
- BJ Cook of www.seorefugee.com who is probably the only SEO in Oaklahoma - Donna of www.seo-scoop.com in Louisiana - John Rothra in North Texas who can be found at www.jrothraministries.com - there aren't too many SEO ministers out there!
And of course www.14thC.com in Sacramento!
Patrick Gavin for links, and Aaron Wall for SEO, although he seems to always have a full plate.
I've really been meaning to do one of these. Here's a handful of folks I've worked with that I'd add to the list:
Web Dev./ Design: https://www.fiftyfoureleven.com/- Mike P. Strenths: WP, design, and more Locale: Spain
Mod Rewrite https://forum.modrewrite.com/viewforum.php?f=12 Justin W. - aka mad_mod_rewriter Strenths: guess:) Locale: Seattle area
Michigan SEO https://www.seodrive.com Derek C. Strenths: Superhuman rankings/ dreams in conversion rates
Michigan Designer/Developer/ Multimedia Steve B. https://www.evisioncommunications.biz/ Strenths: Flash, Design
I'll probably have some more later. It's kind of tough to refer too much to one another, as I know most good SEO's are about up to their eyeballs in work:) www.seoconsultantants.com is one of the resources I generally refer people to if I don't send them back to your list when I can't help.
I recommend Scottfish that posted the link above. He is terrible at the black hat seo but rock on at natural and gradual link aquisition for 100% clean and white long lasting results. Area makes no difference on the interweb as the technology makes talking on skype just like being next door to someone.
