A fair criticism of SEOmoz's Premium Content has always been that while the material inside is valuable, the organization and instructions don't always provide a clear path, particularly for those new to the service or for inexperienced search marketers. Back in December, I wrote a post that walked through 29 ways to use Premium, and now, at SMX West next week, I'll be giving a live presentation devoted entirely to leveraging Premium to improve your search campaigns.
I also have a very special announcement regarding Premium - which is to say that it's about to be replaced... by SEOmoz PRO. PRO is a big upgrade, both in features and functionality. We've re-designed the entire Premium interface to make for a more usable, useful experience. Here's a teaser screenshot:
The session - In-Depth with SEOmoz PRO - is on Wednesday, February 27th at 3:15pm in the Sponsors & Partners Track. Even if you aren't planning to attend the other sessions and pay for a conference pass, you can still get access to this session (and all the other partner sessions). If you're currently not using Premium to the fullest extent, or have questions about the service, this is a terrific time to hop down to Silicon Valley and let us help you out.
Here's my current outline for the seminar:

I'm hoping to see many of our nearly 1900 premium members at the seminar, and Scott will be taping the session so we can share it with those who can't attend. If you've got questions or suggestions, please feel free to leave them in the comments.
p.s. SEOmoz will also have a booth in the SMX West Expo Hall where we'll be happy to help you personally and answer any questions about the service (and hopefully get your input about what will help to make it more valuable). Rand, Rebecca, Jane, Scott, Gillian, Jeff, and one of our new, top-secret team members will all be there :-)
i was concerned at first that this wouldn't be available to us poor folks who will be working as usual while everyone else is "networking".
i look forward to seeing the video soon! great stuff here, but secrets drive me crazy: secret new features, new top-secret team member...argh!
hey rand that sounds super sweet. I won't be there, unfortunately, so I was hoping you might record the presentation and turn it into a whiteboard friday? You could just blog about it, but I'd like to see it in a video at this point!
cool beans
EDIT: or if it's super juicy and you put it in the premium section, that's even better ;)
Or if not a whiteboard friday, how about a "Introduction to SEOmoz PRO" for premium members which has the same walkthough/tips you gave SMX attendees?
The premium content and tools have been great and well worth the cost of membership.
Great news! really looking forward to the new Pro area.
@Bookworm - That could be a potentially interesting part of Pro - much like Youmoz there could be YouTools - but it'd be hard to make sure you got really good tools in there... or at least ones that people didnt want to host on their own sites/blogs etc
With regards to the presentation... I am left cursing the fact that Concorde is no longer available, and that there's no way I could get a lifetime of flights for it to get to conferences in the States!! As such - could you post the conference presentation/video on the blog?!
Edit: In fact - seeing as its got "super secret features" - could this go into the premium section? Then you could get past blogging? or email it....
Looking forward to the launch of PRO - well worth the current price.
Glad to hear there's new features and the yearly subscription rate won't be going up for loyal, since-the-beginning subscribers.
The yearly subscription I bought was well worth the money, but I have advanced a lot in the past year - and I'm hoping the new content and features will get more advanced too. Thanks!
Rand, just want to say a big "thanks!" for going out on a limb(?) and creating the premium membership program to share with the SEO community. It's been most invaluable for me and I wouldn't give it up for anything (almost!).
Looking forward to checking it out and seeing your presentation on it once it is uploaded to the site.
It is X-mas all over again!!
Rand,
What is going to be the cost for the Pro?
Really looking forward to it. Specially the Tips & Tricks.
There's a price increase planned in the future, but for the first few months, the pricing will remain the same.
How will the price increase in the future affect us if we get a year subscription?
Curious because I almost signed up last friday but had issues with Pay Pal and my credit card. Its nice to know there are other payment ways than pay pal.
If you're already a member paying the old rate of either $39 or $49 per month, that won't increase, and the same goes for yearly subscriptions. It will only affect new memberships :)
good deal! i started looking around for an upgrade link, somehow i didn't quite register "Premium... about to be replaced... by SEOmoz PRO".
Looking forward to seeing the new "secret" features and this seo analytics thingy i keep hearing about.
congratulations!
I wished i have the ability to go through certain articles in the premium content section But PayPal is still not availabe in my country :(
Hi Arabian4ever, I will pay for you for a month and work it out with Rand and company :)
SEOmoz has stated pretty clearly that they are very concerned about their worldwide audience and I am sure they will have a payment solution for you and others in the same scenario (countries without paypal) soon.
You do not have any contact info in your profile, so just email me at [email protected] and we will work something out.
Anyone else in the same situation should contact me as well.
Patrick - nice timing :) Jeff's launching a new, in-house payment system by Friday of this week, so folks won't be forced to use Paypal!
Very sweet of you to offer, BTW.
Also - anyone who would prefer not to use Paypal can also call or email [email protected] - she handles all our non-Paypal invoicing currently.
I had a feeling such a solution was coming :)
By SMX at the latest.
thats good news as i really dont like paypal!!! I'll be emailing Gillian shortly!
To much spam comes thru pretending to be Paypal that I dont trust the "genuine" ones!
Hi Rand, looking forward to the seminar.
Awesome can't wait to see the new stuff! Wish I could be there!
This sounds great. Look forward to attending the session.
Maybe I missed it, but did you announce when SEOmoz PRO will go live on the site?
Monday the 25th - sorry about that :)
Sweet - thats my birthday!! Awesome present ;) thanks Rand and Co.
Looks good and looking forward to it, especially the secret new features (that we won't be blogging about).
Sweet! I'm very interested in the analytics. Can't wait to see the details. That's a smart move on your part as it's underserved right now.
Looking forward to it
Seems like it's time to sign up!
