Topic Trends, the latest feature added to Moz Content, allows marketers to quickly access a snapshot of the most popular and the most relevant content in any vertical.
By accessing the content in the Content Search index, Topic Trends highlights the topics that were written about most frequently in the previous five days.
Since the presidential election is the hottest thing going at the moment, it's little surprise that election news is dominant:
This feature is based on the Sharing Trends Graph, which highlights the number of articles matching your search in the Moz Content index, in addition to factoring in the median number of shares per article.
By typing "Featured Snippets" into the search field, for example, you get a two-line graph that's rich in details that can instantly inform your content strategy:
- The grey line represents the number of articles published about the topic being searched for over the last five days.
- The green line depicts the median shares of those articles.
“We're using the graph as a rough indicator of audience interest in the topic,” says Jay Leary, Moz's senior product manager for Moz Content and one of the lead architects behind the product. “It’s sort of like a Google Trends, but instead of searches for a topic, we're looking at the sharing of articles about the topic."
Below the graph you'll find a list of results along with their content metrics, including Reach, Links, Discovery Date and a host of other metrics, including those associated with social shares:
Created by content marketers, for content marketers
Ever since Matthew J. Brown announced the Beta version of Moz Content at MozCon 2015, we've been focused on designing, creating and delivering a tool that will make it easier for marketers to create the types of content that'll resonate with their audiences.
The Tracked Audits feature is ideal for brands who already have an audience, but if you're just getting started, the focus is usually on research. That's where Content Search comes in.
The Tracked Audits feature, for example, provides marketers with all of the information a normal content audit would, but has the added dimension of an extended and customizable timeline.
Instead of spending hours manually (which I've done numerous times; it's no fun) you can simply have updates emailed to you detailing everything you need to know to track content performance.
Also, thanks to Content Search, you can find the most popular pieces of content from across the web via a simple topic search:
Not only will this allow you to be better informed about the content types and content topics you should create, but it also alerts you to who your main competitors are for content you desire to create, as well.

Since Moz Content is still the new kid on the block, I continue to find ways it can help in the ideation and creation process.
I'm eager to hear how others might be doing the same, whether with Moz Content or any other tool.
What are some tips you can share about developing content your audience will appreciate?

Hi Ronell,
As MOZ content and other tools doesn't support non-latin languages, what other tools can we look into when it comes to multilingual SEO .
Any ideas?
Regards,
Vijay
The Moz Content tool is an excellent and helpful tool, but I work in different languages and the results, especially in German, are quite poor. I hope they can improve it!
Hey Vincente,
Good point of clarification. The Content Search index is limited to English-language articles. You can, however, run an Content Audit on any site (or use a Tracked Audit to gather metrics over time). The topic extraction has shown some success with Spanish content. I'd be curious to know how it fairs with German!
Thanks Ronell
I have not managed to put Moz Content into the "routine" weekly work and get the most out of it (as it is the case with other tools like rankings, or keyord explorer). Your post is a reminder to have a good look at it and discover its full potential
Thank you, Luis. Let us know if you have any questions.

This Moz content tool is awesome!
Ronell! How can i find most searched topic in different countries and regions?
Nick,
Jay answered this above: "The Content Search index is limited to English-language articles. You can, however, run an Content Audit on any site (or use a Tracked Audit to gather metrics over time). The topic extraction has shown some success with Spanish content."

Indeed an great addition to Moz tools. Looking forward to try this out!
Hi Ronnell
We'll have to try this new tool because it looks good. It can also be very useful to know that you are talking about your client and adapt it to your product
Hi Luis,
Every little bit helps, right? The better informed you are about the content you need to create, the less time you waste and the more efficiently you can create optimal content in the future.

is their any possible alternative ways to zoom on the picture?
Hi, Tony! Try clicking on them now -- they are automatically compressed by the blog, but I've made it so a slightly bigger version will open in a new tab. :)
Mi pregunta es si funciona correctamente en todos los países.
Good question! And forgive me for responding in English :)
The Content Audit functionality is largely language-agnostic. The topic extraction works best with English-language sites, but we've seen some successes with Spanish.
In terms of Content Search - the index is exclusively English content at this point - so it's focused largely on US, UK, AU and CA.
Helpful to know there's interest though. Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks Ronell Smith,
To be frank I am still new to moz content, I just now tested this tool but only after reading your post, tried for my website(health category) which is fairly new (3 months old), did not show anything and then i tried for my parenting blog in same segment and i didn't see anything, just now i put a keyword (targeted on my website) and its showing results , great ! Only 10 times checking option is available for free version.
will try next 10 tomorrow as well..looked interesting tool to me, can be used to get content idea's .

Thanks, Pulkit, for taking the time to read the post. One thing to be aware of is when you a term is not showing much in the way of returned results, it could highlight an opportunity your brand can take advantage of, in large part because there is little in the way of competition.
