We've added a new feature for premium members: SEO Tips and Tricks. It's nothing earth-shatteringly huge, just a simple list of SEO tips, tricks, and bits of industry knowledge that we don't make publicly available. The list will be updated fairly regularly and when a new tip is published you'll notice a New SEO Tip link in the left-hand navigation underneath your account information
These tips are perfect for those busy days when you don't have the time to read a lengthy article but would still like to pick up a few gems of SEO knowledge. They're concise, useful and offer a great ROI in the 30 seconds it takes to read one.
There's several in there right now, including an interesting tactic for taking advantage of sites that scrape your content and advice on staying under the radar when purchasing links.

You all don't know what you're missing :) Come on, it's only $299 for a whole year, plus you get to support a website that you all know and love.
P.S.
Rand, just send me my commission payments through paypal, as usual ;)
SEOMoz is seriously becoming one of the best SEO marketing blogs out there both in the original content you guys and gals provide and the original implementation of the content. I really feel obligated to contribute to SEOMoz and I think that soon enough, I will! :)
SEO tips and tricks..... I like it! Agree it would be good to be able to comment though. And how about letting premium members add tips?
Adding tips - that could be really valuable. Good thinking. I'll second that idea.
I disagree, I think quality control is important here (people are paying to read these tips). If you have something highly valuable you want to share with the SEOmoz community, put it in youmoz
Years ago I paid to join a certain group for premium content and after happily shelling out the $$$s found nothing but bickering moderators and bull - I think quality of content is SO important.
I am wary of these premiums communities now - sad to say this is why I'm slow joining up here - besides the fact you don't accept Google Checkout ;)
Cheers
David
Now go add Google Checkout and make it easy on me to give you some of my ill gotten gains ;)
Yeah. Fair point actually. If they're going to appear in my sidebar, I do want them to be high quality. There is a little disconnect between short tips and stuff that is worthy of a youmoz post, but I'm sure as we all get more used to youmoz, it'll be more natural to contribute things there.
No way is work going to pay for this but can I afford not to...?
If only we could make the boss understand...
I'm very glad that I didn't comment when these first went live. When they did I was a bit underwhelmed - I couldn't see how they would add value to a premium membership.
Having gone back now that the list has bulked up a bit, I'm sold. The ones about launching large sites and licensing really tipped this into being a positive.
As a new premuim member and someone who spends endless amounts of time researching keywords, on and off page factors, directory listings and link partners as well as better ways to do his SEO, I can say without a doubt the $299 (well $370 something for me coz i'm an aussie!) was recovered in about 30 seconds once I realised how quickly I could get all the collaborated information that used to take me ages, all in a nice neatly presented report! Cheers guys!
I wish I'd spent some time researching SEOMoz before. I've been missing so much. I'm sure many of you are like me: anxious to avoid wasting time on sites that are just that--a waste of time.
But SEOMoz is different. As soon as I get a break in my schedule I'll upgrade. Scared to do it right now because I know I won't get any work done for a while once I do! :)
Thanks so much, SEOMoz team.
I'm in but I only use Google Checkout these days so how do I pay???
David
Must.get.premium.membership.
I got my first look at the new seo tips last night and I think they make a great addition. Matt your description is accurate. These may not be earth shatteringly huge, but they are good tips and I like how it's easy to tell which ones you have and haven't looked at.
I think you're right about maintaining the quality and keeping these as SEOmoz tips and tricks, though it would be interesting to see the discussions that some of them would develop.
suppose i make the 100 in one month...
do i have the membership for life? or the 100 points is a monthly target?
Simply getting 100 mozpoints won't instantly earn you a membership, it'll just put you into a group of people and from there we hand-pick several members who we thought were particularly valuable to the community.
Also, it gets you a month of premium membershp.
Also, keep in mind that you have to earn 100 mozpoints in a single month - you can't just have 100 mozpoints total
I'd 2nd that Matt - I think we've all seen some bloggers on YOUmoz (and many people may include me in that list) where you really wouldn't be happy paying for their advice - keep the paid for stuff under the SEOmoz quality control roof I say...
UPDATE - Hmmm, this ended up in the wrong place after Fierfox froze. It ought to be down there
I just looked at the mozpoints page.
Has anyone commented 150 times in a month, ever? That's like 3 comments a day with lots of thumbs up (okay, so Rand gets considered for a free subscription...) but that's a lot of posts even for a slow day!
Update: I'm going to put the 150+ mozpoints in a month to the test, starting tomorrrow; April 1st. :D I'll submit all my entries here aswell!
If I don't make 150+ mozpoints perhaps that bar can be lowered?
The transcript of this interview with Rand (I haven't actually listened, just read the transcript) implied that some people have got free memberships...
This is where youmoz posts really come in handy. Also, we actually lowered it to 100 mozpoints and five of our users received free premium memberships last month
That's all the persuassion I needed!
Actually, I'm probably not far off that...
Keep placing those shameless plugs and I guess you are... :P
Hows that for Irony.
and this.
*cough-twice-cough*
I really ought to do some work!
Sweet, more motivation for me to try for a free premium membership!
Could you maybe add a screenshot or quote snippet in the post for those of us that aren't yet premium status? Just a thought.
Wow...
that was the stuff I Was waiting for... I'm signing up
cheers,christoph
SEOMoz is such a great place! you guys have such original content! I look forward to what you guys have! and you can bet I will be up grading my membership. keep up the great work guys annd girls!
Gee...... I sure do wish I could sign up as a premium member, but I'm paying for my own blog at my company out of my own pocket......... picture a sad face.. Sure do wish I could qualify for one of those "you're awesome so we'll let you in" memberships... until then I just gotta work on bein' awesome-er.
You got screwed. :(
I'm going to pressure work into a subscription under my name, we'll see how it goes. A premium subscription is becoming a very appitising offer...
It's worth it. The tools, the guides, the feeling like a rockstar.... :)
Yep Thats all the persuasion I needed. I'm Down!............... By next week:)
Good work. Liking that - thanks Matt. They may be small tips, but they're juicy :)
Something for the future - it would be nice if we could discuss them (like these comments). I have some comments and questions about the SEO contracts tip in particular...
PS if you have a minute, get Rebecca to show you our new tool - we're really close to releasing it for general consumption.
Will - having a space where users can contribute comments probably isn't a bad diea.
A new seo tool? cool - I'll have rebecca show it to me on monday
Yeah. Kinda. Reputation monitoring. In fact, I'll email you a link.
Well 300$ is still a lot for a student - ex. me! Why isn't there an SEOmoz scholarship information program? :)
Hey, way to motivate us to join premium, actually, I am actually considering to join now.
But wouldn't it be great if it streams directly to my pda/mobile phone so that I get a daily update when I'm on the run (most of the time)
I sense a mashup coming your way soon...
