An excellent thread at SEOChat is helping to uncover an uncomfortable phenomenon at Google - sites that rank well are very, very old. While this has been speculated about for many months, these are the first publications of any scale to be released.
Read the thread - Proof Of Search Position Based On Age Of Domain?
Then, check out the great tool for checking the age of up to 10 sites at a time - Find Age of Website Tool. Using this tool and a variety of other factors, I have generated some data about Google's neophobia. Don't miss - Age of Sites & Google's SERPs.

The author's views are entirely his or her own (excluding the unlikely event of hypnosis) and may not always reflect the views of Moz.
Google also looks at the registration length of the domain, figuring that fly-by-night operations only register it for 1 year, while legit companies that plan to be around for a while will register for longer, up to 10 years.
Also they look on the age since it is online, not since it was buyed.
Seems quite good diving into the past with Rand Fishkin and see what was going on with Rand Fishkin and what he was going through... and how he learned step by step and taught as well...
Yes! That's exactly what I am trying to do too. Very interesting stuff.
Great tool! I just checkt my domain age, but I think that my website: Prehek.nl is older that the tool views though.
Useful test, but it seems not trustworthy that we trust only one test, it would be much better if we could do 10 times.
I am not completely agree with your comment but I do agree with your topic & Google give such benefit to those websites which are so old.
I have personal experience & such website is not older than 2 or 3 years as compare to more than 10 years website is getting lower rank in Google USA.
So at the end I agree that its difficult to bit those website who is more older compare to new website.
As i said on another post, search engines trust older websites, and websites which have old links (the older the link on a specific URL, the more it is trusted)
It's like with poeple. You are afraid to trust poeple you just know for a few days, instead of some friends of relatives from your childhood.
