Without doubt, 2007 was our best year ever, and it's all your fault! Thanks so much to all our members, readers and contributors, and everyone in the Internet Marketing field. Without you, we'd be a sad, surly bunch.
Looking at the people who make up SEOmoz, I'm humbled and amazed at the company we've become. I hope that you can all be as lucky as I am to spend time with each of them. My personal thanks goes out to you, team - you've made even the hardest days ten times better. Thank you.
p.s. Yes, we're late in posting a holiday greeting, but we have a good excuse! With so many mozzers out of town in December, we decided to throw a late party this year, cleverly titled (by, who else, Rebecca), the "Because the Holidays Aren't Over Until We Say They Are, Dammit!" party.
p.p.s. Photo credit to Carlos Del Rio (thanks Carlos!)
Mel has an uncanny ability to appear calm in desperate and dangerous situations, most people do not not realize this but as this photo was being taken he was actually using his "magic saucer of justice" to deflect bullets.
Very James Bondy.
note: I am just making this up, because I have absolutely no idea why someone would carry a saucer the way he is. Perhaps he was signaling using some sort of saucer code?
Or is this an example of Seatlle gansta signing?
Please offer your own theories....
He is slyly disposing of crumbs form his Christmas cookie that was carefully nestled against his tea cup. But once the cookie was eaten, and the cup lifted, there had to be the plate cleaning lest he soil his coat with tea soaked cookie crumbs. Brilliance.
Magic saucer of justice: nice... :)
Mel looks like he's trying to appear especially polite and civilized to cover up for some other terrible mistake, like his jacket pocket is full of weed or he just deleted all of the Premium Member accounts.
No, he's just Austin-tacious. (Zing!)
No, thank you. Seriously. I have no doubt that you've done more for my business this past year than I've done for yours.
Exactly what I was thinking. Well said, Pete.
Thanks to all of you. Good work guys - here's to an even better 2008.
I agree with Pete, thanks to Seomoz for an excellent year of great content.
I told Scott that he looks like he saw a unicorn sliding down a rainbow in the background. :D
The photographer was waving a squeeky stuffed animal around to get my attention. It worked.
Great pic,
Is it me or does Mel look British?
Scott is really starting to disturb me the longer I look at his expression!
Until he had his hair cut, Mel looked (and sounded) just like Christian Slater.
Don't get me started on the Moz look-a-likes; Rebecca & Scott have probably only just forgiven me.
Don't forget our very own Hugh Jackman, second from the left. Not so obvious in this picture, but definitely true in real life!
Uggh. Everybody else looks daper and refined and I look like...well, I look like an idiot.
If you aren't careful some applicant is going to sue you for discrimination because you only hire pretty women.
Happy this year!
Great pic! Thanks for linking to the larger version... it is now set as my desktop wallpaper.
Oh. Dear. God.
Well the party was worth the wait. Congratulations to the whole team.
Nice work on the photo, Carlos. You're a man of many talents. I especially like how your camera fills in people's names :)
Yep, Rand pays me the big bucks solely to name our work parties. I'm working on our Valentine's party--how's "More Love Than a Cuttlet Convention"?
*shudder*
And the Aussie captures the essence of the group in one word...Cosmopolitan.
That would be super clever, since there are no Australians in this picture.
Note to self: Never rely on memory, since memory doesn't serve you correctly.
My sincerest aplogies for yet another gaffe'. Having friends from both New Zealand and Australia and understanding (at least to a certain extent), the pride and/or rivarly associated with each one's respective homeland, you would think I might check to make sure I have my facts straight before speaking. No, that would be too logical.
I would like to blame it on the time of day the comment was made, yet I know better.
Did I at least get the drink correct?
In any case, a very "cosmopolitan" looking team.
I honestly don't care where people think I'm from.
So you won't mind another year of non-stop Mordor jokes? Sweet!
I'm sure you've seen Flight of the Concords ... They're from New Zealand and yet ...
"I couldn't understand you because of your English accent."
You should have just explained that, in Texas, Aussie is used as an abbreviation for Australasian.
Or maybe not.
The only real difference is when they reply in the positive or ask for sea-food in batter & fried potatoes...
You looking for a thumbs down there, buddy?
:P
Sorry, I forgot. The affirmative statement at the end should have been posed as a question.
Keep it up!
I was always taught that Kiwi was just English, but with every vowel shifted two along.
A becomes i, e becomes o, i becomes u, etc.
Of course, how that translates for vernacular American accents I cannot imagine ;¬)
Sean; I wouldn't worry, Jane's very understanding of you Canadians by now
;)
Thanks Ciaran. Leave it to a Frenchman to come to my rescue. ;)
I was actually born in Toulouse so could have had a French passport - for some reason I never fancied the National Service.
Off-topic? me?
;)
Jane, FTW!
Yes - She shoots - she scores!
At least I graciously acknowledged my mistake. :)
How about "Searching (pun! pun! - I love bad puns!) for love?"
Congratulations SEOMOZ team: "You get what you deserve".
Congratulations, guys, you deserve all the success and kudos in the world. My business has grown enormously this past year, and much of that is due to what I've learned at SEOmoz. Best wishes for 2008!
congrats on the success /
I hope - this year is a year of growth in all areas.

SEOmoz, you truly are a wonderful, colorful bunch. I hope 2008 is even more profitable and successful for all of us. :)
Congrats on your success, guys, it is SO well-deserved!
Congrats to all of you on a great year! I wish you even more success in 2008 (as long as you don't steal my customers) :-)
Congrats on an inspirational year :)
Congratulation to SEOmoz Team.
Hope this year you will also get the more success. Carry on
Welcome to SEOMoz, Gunjan :)
Was Gillian a stilt-walker in a past-life?
This photo encapsulates so much of what Mel's personality is like.
Oooohhh Everyone Looks so Classy!
Well you're sure welcome because a sad and surly mozzer is certainly something we don't want see. Happy New Year to you all, may this trip around the sun be your best yet!
Hey! You guys all look too perfect. Mwahahaha, do I smell a photoshop competition?!
Jane will you be my valentine this year?!
First, thank you, like Dr. Pete, you are doing more for us than we do for you!
And what is Jane drinking? I like the color and the glass.
$50 says it's a cosmo...
Shut up. It wasn't nearly as good as Amber's.
Few things in life are as delicious as Amber, er, Amber's.
Edit: How come the strikethrough isn't working?
Freudian slip there David?!
;)
What a handsome group! You guys are the best!
